It's a sight that's becoming all too familiar - homeless people sleeping in Hawaii State Library with their belongings around them.

Kat Chup homelessness is a disgrace in Hawaii. They should take out all whites who are homeless there which makes up 90% of the homeless population. I mean they took their land and now most are without a home. I want all white homeless there to be brought back to the mainland to be homeless there and not in Hawaii. Hawaii is too beautiful to be trashed by lazy people who can’t get on their feet there.

@@nsr5961 that's laughable. I was homeless in Honolulu December 2013 until May 2014. I'm pretty White. I was 1 of less then a dozen. Mostly native Hawaiian and other Pollenisian pacific islands race people. And like 3 black people. So you make it sound like you have a bunch of homeless White people. You don't. People ask ( ware is white boy?) Well pretty sure they mean me. Like I said less then a dozen of us were white I was the minority in the crowd I socialized with

@@nsr5961 Yes❗ Thank you. This really makes me feel terrible. I'm so ashamed at these low lifes, drug addicts from the mainland. I worked hard to live in Hawaii as everyone else does. And respect the local people and Aloha. I came in 1968 to go to UH and worked. I lived there many years. It was the best experience of my life and the values I learned have stayed with me. Hawaii no ka oi and Mahalo nui loa 🤙

It’s dangerous. Won’t stop until a kid gets attacked in the bathroom.

They should ask for their ID card's and social security number and the first three digits will say what state they are from and they should be sent back to that state where they should receive medical, housing, food stamps and benefits covered by that state Medicare and or medicaid...that's how to resolve the homeless and landless...WAIPA

Aren't there DAY CENTERS for the homeless so that they can rest, shower, do laundry?

No keep in mind Hawaii is warm enough all year round to even consider that.

Nothing new. It's all over the country. Libraries are one big homeless shelter

I took my kids there to check out books and the Hawaiian section, when we got there my youngest one had to use the bathroom, this homeless guy started sprinting towards the stall and yelling at us that the stall belonged to him. I was shocked and angry all at the same time. The library which had always been a cool place to visit when I was younger had now devolved to homeless guys coveting and staking out the restroom facilities as well as the open courtyards and the certain sections inside. They need to remove these guys from there, they are treating the library like it's their own personal residence.

It's a disgrace. There's no excuse. Go to Social Services, work or go back where you came from. Hawaii deserves better. People unwilling to work know they can do this. It's out, everybody knows.😔🤙

Mental hospitals closed in 1970s. They're on street now. Stop big retirements of gvt officials, chiefsof police & fire dept for extra $.
@carolferguson192 жыл бұрын
Watch out. No room in Mental Hospital on St. Thomas Island resulted in 3 people being decapitated in daylight at the Harbor. Not a pretty picture.

Open a shelter for the homeless and give them a place to do their laundry. The community should take care of their poor. We need to have a heart for the poor and homeless and find ways to help them improve their lives.

Stop crying about the homeless. The same ones complaining are one struggle away from being homeless themselves. Plenty of sarcasm in Honolulu.
