The Ki-87 is a nasty mammajamma that was meant to intercept B-29s. Only one was built, so its mission never happened, but we have the ability to wipe people off the face of the earth with its massive armament of 2x 30mm cannons and 2x 20mm cannons, of which will absolutely wreck any plane that gets hit by them. Let's see how well we do!

Turbo-supercharger is just an old way of saying turbocharger. Forced induction will mean an engine can operate at higher altitudes by pushing more air into the engine. A turbocharger is generally preferable among high rpm aero engines, as it is known re efficient than a supercharger at high speeds, however on small planes like the spitfire or p-51 a (centrifugal) supercharger is all that the engine manufacturer can put into the engine. Quite a few fighters had forced induction in ww2, so i don’t think you’ll have a particular advantage in the ki87

You should check out the Ki-94 II. It’s very similar to this plane but.. arguably worse But to answer the turbocharging question… that basically makes it easier for the engine to use more air to ignite the fuel as it gets higher. The p38 has a similar set up with the exposed turbo, and the p47 is so fat because of its massive turbo

Got that plane and regretted it. Thing flies like and has the nose authority of a Greyhound bus. And those guns....between the low fire rate and the constant sparks, even when you finally get the guns on target they just "nope" you constantly. I still fly it....cuz why not? lol

Sparks? 1 shell from 30mm tracer and they are done. Either no pilot, no wing, or kaboom. 20mm tho are utteriously dogshit, pew pew, no damage. Hitto

It'd be interesting to see you fly the Ki-61-II Kai. It's pretty much a stinker, but it'd be nice to have someone actually fly the thing, lol.

Regarding turbochargers, at the time of WWII they were rare in general because of their size. Almost all US bombers had them because they had the space for them, as did the P-47, and the P-38 is twin-boom to make space for them. Other fighters weren’t large enough and had superchargers. As far as two-stage supercharging goes, it was most common on US aircraft. It does get used in some cars, primarily high-performance supercars like some Ferraris.

You really should shine a light on the Rank 3 Japanese Ki-43iii otsu. That plane is very fun, very capable, and kinda ridiculous. It takes some skill to master due to low ammo and a strict redline, but it’s so amazing.

Can you review the Ki-84's please? I love those planes, not too fast, not too maneuverable, good firepower and a bit of a underdog. (Also try the J2M2 if you haven't yet its stupidly good)

30mm Japanese fighters are best tier 4 fighters in hands of players who aims very well. They are maneuverable not for turnfights, but for great target leadings. Only tier 1-3 fighters and zeros are good for turnfight.

I can give a quick review in writing now. Strengths: Powerful armament Good top speed/dive rate Decent maneuverability Can take a hit better than most Japanese planes Good at higher altitude Weaknesses: Fairly large for a single engine fighter Mediocre rate of climb for its BR Roll rate is mediocre 20mm cannons have somewhat poor muzzle velocity Thoughts: The Ki-87 is a beast of a plane and, short of the J6K1, is probably the best overall Japanese premium prop plane. While it doesn't have the maneuverability of a Zero or any of its variants, or even a Raiden, the Ki-87 has a ridiculously powerful armament and good top speed that, in the hands of someone that prefers that over world class maneuverability, will dominate. I personally love the Ki-87, and fully recommend it.

@@molanlabexm15Climb rate isn't the best so you want to go to the side and slowly get up to 5k. Try to head in the direction of your closest base to the enemy and intercept bombers (its irl role). Then dive on people with its incredible speed. Gun range 600 meters.

Compared to Hayate, Ki-87 have better armament with infinite 30mm rounds, better high alt performance and much better dive performance. Like J7W and Ki-83, this plane is only good for very skilled aimers who can use the advantage of deadly Japanese 30mm

@@anthonymoe5280 they're really really damn annoying and they feel faster than the normal A6Ms I have almost all of them and I specially use the A6M5 Otsu but always the Kos seem to be faster and so more damage even if they have weaker armament

J2M5 if you can afford it In rank III, the Fw190, P-51C, Ki96 are good In rank 2 the bf109 E7 and F4U -1A are great

Turbosupercharged engines are more common in aircraft, even by the start of WWII. More a US thing, like P47 and P38. Greg's airplanes is a great channel for WWII aircraft stuff, especially if you want a deep dive into aeronautics and engines.

So it has both a turbo and a supercharger? Turbocharger is driven by exhaust a supercharger is driven by the crankshaft. Several different kinds of superchargers as well.

This thing is like a Japanese 152, in between the C and H in terms of performance. It is fantastic at high altitude and has very good energy retention. If you are proficient in stall fights and energy management, this thing is deadly.

A turbo-supercharger is the long way to say “turbocharger”. The ki87 is only turbocharged. This, the p47, p38 are some examples of turbocharged aircraft. There are cars that have both superchargers and turbochargers, but it’s extremely rare and was occasionally done for rally cars in the 80s and 90s.
