In this jazz drum lesson, I break down a challenging exercise for improving jazz comping. You will improve your ability to comp at a fast tempo by working on this great exercise which is designed to help you hear and play all of the different 8th note partials in your snare and bass drum. The coordination required to keep your ride cymbal unaffected from your comping requires diligent and consistent practice from slow to fast. Be patient and have fun!
