The 2019 Tata Steel Masters is a 14-player single round-robin taking place from 12-27 January. For its 81st edition the tournament boasts six Top 10 players including World Champion Magnus Carlsen and former champions Vladimir Kramnik and Vishy Anand. As well as the traditional venue in Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands, rounds will be played in Alkmaar (16 January) and in Leiden (23 January).
The time control is 100 minutes for 40 moves followed by 50 minutes for 20 moves, then 15 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment per move from move 1. If two or more players tie for first place then a 2-game blitz (5+3) playoff and, if still tied, an Armageddon game will be held 15 minutes after all the games in the Masters and Challengers have finished, though the monetary prizes will be shared evenly. Hello Agagdmator! KZfaq proposed me to watch your chess videos a month ago but why? I didn’t play chess. I was curious so I watched one ... and now I’m playing Chess. And when I’m falling asleep I can hear: “hello everyone”, “sorry about that”, “castles castles”, “capture,capture”,“and now it’s a complete new game”. Thanks a lot for your videos!!! (I like your dog also) 😂

I am new to the chess world, so I always wonder where the players are from and what their rating was at the time of the game. Would you consider adding those things to the player profiles in your interface? I don't know how much more work it is to get and implement that data!

Ding was 2813 and Shankland is 2724 I believe. Ding is Chinese and Shankland is American. Here is a good site for information on rankings of the top 100. www.2700chess.com
@NowhereMan7
@NowhereMan7 5 жыл бұрын
Why do you wonder and not just look it up? You are on the internet already. Just copy and paste their name into the search bar and it will tell you those things and more. Also he did include the ratings for a time but decided not to continue for various reasons.
@kyoopihd
@kyoopihd 5 жыл бұрын
@@NowhereMan7 Well I could also look up their pictures, so why include those? I could look up the series of moves myself, too; why bother putting that information in the description? Of *course* what I do is look it up myself. That's exactly my point, though! I'm already getting a wealth of information from the video - that's why I watch it. This would simply be one more bit of key demographic data about the players, and there is ample room in the presentation to show it.

(At 6:00 minutes) You've missed that it's actually a triple attack as the pawn was already attacked by black's dark square bishop. Sorry for being a smart alec/stuck up but, I think it's at least somewhat important when it comes to decision making and reasoning.

From what I've heard, Einstein did not care for chess, and the quote is not complimentary toward the game. Some GM way back once called it a "meaningless frivolity" or some such. I think it's magic, some kind of gift from the Gods, but Albert may have a point. :D

Why not just take the pawn on b4 with the rook? It also prevents the bishop to A4. And even if you don't want to capture the bishop on A4, you're not wasting any turns (as the other rook will have to move anyway). So you might as well get a piece for it.
