Bobby and Joseph never get enough time to show how they're "best friends". Yeah they do stuff together and have a few episodes where the story involves them, but we never see what they have in common.

well mostly its because they are neighbours, same with bobby and conny, while they dont seem to have any similarities interestwise, they still were in a relationship together. Its mostly convenience I assume. More often then not u see them interact on a casual basis, just chilling, that said its enough to consider someone as ´´best friend´´ during that age.

This show took place in the 90's early 2k's. Back then finding friends was still difficult outside your home town. You either hung out witha neighbor who was nothing like you or just didn't have friends. These days it really easy to find friends online and eventually meet them when you are at a relative age. The world offers a host of possibilities to those who have internet access. However it's way more dangerous.

The virgin Bobby vs. the chad Joseph
@crypastesomemore8348

Bobby is a virggin, but Joseph is not a chad (he’s probably a virggin as well, actually). Joseph is more of an awkward pubescent with chad-potential, assuming he keeps his hair and squares up his jawline.
@shadywiskerz

Bobby has potential Chad mentality Joseph looks like a potential Chad. Bobby has rarely cared what people think about him and he has had alot of attractive people interested in him and go out with him. He’s never really been a simp. When Bobby REALLY doesn’t want to do something he won’t do it and when he does do stuff for a girl he gets somewhat of an interest in it himself and when it didn’t interest him anymore he dropped it and even when heartbroken he’s bounced back and went after other females instead of being stuck on Connie (except that one episode) Joseph Is awkward and creepy. At best he’s a step above an incel but the path isn’t far behind him either. He probably got better as he got older and I’m sure Bobby continued to thrive and be his own man. Not necessarily a ladies man but a guy who moves to his own trumpet.

Bobby and Joseph's problems are they're a couple of awkward teens. As I guy who was once an awkward teen himself, this is something you can grow out of. With that said, Joseph's advice is right.

So much going on in that scene. Joseph correctly identifying the girl as a high maintenance mess that's not compatible with Bobby, in a way that, on the surface, seems shallow and churlish, but also subtly conveys that it's exactly that kind of thinking, and expectation, that will only heighten this incompatibility. But of course, even then, there _is_ a degree of merit to Joseph's way of thinking, because if Bobby and that girl had a similar level of intimacy as Joseph and his girlfriend, or if Bobby didn't sound so desperate in his response, it might indicate that their relationship was functional, and that the girl's more abrasive qualities weren't a problem for Bobby. It is telling that Joseph's girlfriend does not object, or even seem phased, by his terse suggestion to end their relationship. That she reads the situation the same way Joseph does not only indicates the soundness of the advice, but also reinforces that Joseph and his girlfriend _are_ a functioning couple, contrasting Bobby and his girlfriend.

I can say from experience, NEVER GET INVOLVED WITH POLITICS OR ACTIVISM UNLESS YOU'RE ACTUALLY INVESTED IN THE CAUSE. I've gone in to these sorts of groups and events to meet people and make friends, even get a girlfriend like Bobby is, and I've lived to regret it. It was really a waste of time. The people involved are only there for the cause and are not interested in friendships or relationships. Plus, they usually don't have the time anyway. Course, this was during Covid. It was an excuse to get out of the house. So, I was desperate. But I still regret doing it. Also, I've learned that there are activist types who are either fanatics or are manipulating their own causes for personal gain. You don't want to get mixed up with them.
@KingOfElectricNinjas
@KingOfElectricNinjas Жыл бұрын
That's the thing, isn't it? You don't have to understand absolutely every detail about a situation to identify a problem and try to fix it, but unless you're at least genuinely feeling involved and invested in it, and giving effort proportionate to your investment, it's gonna be the most tedious thing in the world and a huge waste of time in the end.
@azazelgrigori9244
@azazelgrigori9244 Жыл бұрын
@@KingOfElectricNinjas Even so, I've noticed a certain mentality within these groups. Identity = Virtue. You really need to avoid people like that. No matter what good you do individually, all that matters to them is the group you're a part of. So, not only will they be ungrateful, but they'll also continue to blame, guilt, and preach at you. Activist groups are not places I wanna be anymore.

I used to get involved because I truly had passion for these causes. I had a temper so a lot of shit going on in this world pissed me off. I didn't get involved to get a girlfriend. I kind of just mellowed down a bit throughout the years. Yeah I still do my part every now and then but I try not to get too political about it anymore.

In I'm highology, she says 1 and 1 because she has two points and not three. If she stated 1 and 2 then that adds up to 3 giving you presumptions to make. She probably just wanted to be quick, blunt and polite but with no unnecessary conversation.
