I have to agree. The "lack" of diversity with the color scheme in this particular serie really highlights your work with lights and shadows. And the subtle use of nuances. You keep on improving, which is quite unexpected considering your skills.

This was amazing. I have been looking at my own screaming antelope for several months waiting to be inspired, and I am! The way you did the glowing cracking on the body draws so much attention to a model that normally isn’t that eye catching. ( Unless someone looks at the under belly lol!) i don't have enough adjectives to describe how beautiful this thing is. I thought the cracks were part of the model's texture until you got started, and then even after i watched you paint them, they still looked like they were always there. Also, before you added the cracks, i though the whole thing looked light, and then as you kept brightening the cracks, the whole thing got darker. I'm always amazed watching your videos and i learn something new from every one. On a side not, if you ever get bored doing painting videos, you should try your hand at some behind the scenes cinematography tutorials. it doesn't matter how long your video is, it is so pleasant to watch i'm always disappointed when it ends. You don't talk unnecessarily, you focus on the model and paint and not yourself talking, the camera is always in focus, your cuts are seamless and not jarring, the music you use adds tension and mood. Your art is more than just the painting, it's the whole experience of watching you create it. I don't know anything about art, but this is absolutely what i think art should be. Thank you.

We went there at night with a friend when we were about 20, it was a bit scary to go through the dark forest without lite (we were sneaking into secured location of unfinished building) and to suddenly hear breaking brunches right next to us. Good memories))) A lot of people visit us now, while our money is cheap, although i see much more older people. Just today I saw a huge group of French folks. I've seen many Germans, some American and Chinese folks almost every day)))

I'm thoroughly impressed by the video production quality as well as your painting style. I recently grabbed a copy of KD:M, and the thought of having to play the game with unpainted miniatures just feels wrong, so I decided to get back into the hobby for the first time in decades. Inspiring stuff here. I have a question though: do you somewhere have something of an inventory list of things you would recommend as great to own and use when it comes to assembly and painting of your minis? Choosing between brands can be daunting and I'd love to know if there are specific tools that you think are essential for qol. Thanks!
@Sorastro
@Sorastro 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Regarding a "getting started" list, I'm actually thinking of creating an absolute-beginner's guide to painting in the not-too-distant future; until then the only thing I'd suggest now is to simply buy whatever individual colours you need for a specific project and build your paint collection up gradually (and don't be afraid to mix paint brands - each range has certain strengths and you'll probably also discover a personal preference for particular colours etc over time through experience) :)

Fantastic. Your figure painting videos have inspired me to branch out from vehicle models. Do you use the Rosemary & Co brushes because you think they are superior to series 7, because they are better for certain aspects of painting, or because they offer better value?
@Sorastro
@Sorastro 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Matt! I certainly think the R&Co brushes offer better value compared to the W&N but I'm not sure if they're necessarily superior. I personally like them because they have a rather long and slender belly/bristles which suits my personal painting style. But I will often favour the slightly firmer W&N brushes for when I'm wet blending. :)

Gorgeous as usual... quick question... I suppose the top fur was a good candidate for some drybrushing... and I suppose you didnt do it because you like to have more control... Right?
@Sorastro
@Sorastro 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! I did actually provide a dry brush of pure white in the "Prep 'n' Spray" stage to help sharpen the texture: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qNukZLaby7rYqWg.html Because of how thinly I applied the base colours I didn't feel it needed any further dry brushing after that but you sure could do if you want a little extra "pop" in the fur. I also wanted to maintain a slightly muted tone to allow the glowing cracks to better stand out :)

I've seen this figure painted on several KZfaq videos and it has always ended up as a clichéd lump of horror from a teenager (lack of) imagination (and some of them are fairly good painters.) So thanks for showing what thought and good taste can being to a figure I had previously discounted as tacky and very unappealing. The figure is still not my thing but at least it's now down to personal taste ;)

I wonder if there is a way to paint miniatures so that they reflect light from whatever light source you put them by.
@Xlaminator
@Xlaminator 5 жыл бұрын
that´s exactly what all these miniatures do, they just reflect incoming light...

How does one get their hands on these figures? all the KDM miniatures I've found available online look like a 13 year old boy's vision of anime-bdsm... but these figures are really beautiful...

How do you work with the retardant ? I tríes it once and madre a mess cause it wouldnt dry. Do you dry it with hairdryer?
@Sorastro
@Sorastro 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Juan! I think it helps if you don't use too much of the retarder - and mix some water in too. But yes - I usually have a hairdryer handy (whether I'm using retarder or not!) :)

Hello! А что вы добавили сверху на краску на 2:02? Полупрозрачная жидкость, как называется она и для чего нужна? What did you put on top of the paint at 2:02? Translucent liquid, what is it called and what is it for?
@Sorastro
@Sorastro 4 жыл бұрын
Hi! That's just some retarder which slows the drying time so I have longer to work with the paint on the model :)

This might be a really stupid question but, could one use black ink intended for a fountain pen? I have a few FW inks, but I don't have a black ink, however my girlfriend does calligraphy and has black ink for that. But I don't really have any models to test it on
@Sorastro
@Sorastro 5 жыл бұрын
Hi James! I really see no reason as to why it wouldn't be OK to use ink from a fountain pen. I would just thin it with a little water and have a go at applying it to the cracks to see how it looks :)

Kingdom Death game miniatures are not resin but High Impact Polystyrene HIP plastic. GW makes their plastic miniatures from the same material.Most board game miniatures like CMON and Star Wars are made from different plastic.

Wildboy789789 the base game and expansions are plastic miniatures. The resin miniatures found on the website are “extras” in that they aren’t required to play, are for collectors of minis, etc.

@Sorastro
@Sorastro 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jones! I'm not sure if you're asking about the lore of the game in general or the antelope specifically, but there's a wiki page with some basic info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_Death:_Monster :)

...and here's the bit of lore for the Screaming Antelope: "There was once a fearsome monster that was trained by the Hand to be a steed for the Goblin. However, upon smelling its new master, the monster's mind shattered and it ran into the unknown, foaming at the mouth and biting the noses off the stone faced floor."[
