Agree@kimr.5149. Always loved his transparency. Although not understood by some, transparency may be cathartic for some and has the power to help others who have gone through the same. Those who have followed Kirk /love his music from day one, knows he has often shared his abandonment issues and speaks of it in his music. Some may not understand him sharing this, but those who can are so very happy that he finally found his biological father. Kirk said "I heal as I reveal". May God continue to heal the wounds that he and others may still have.

I was flying in from LAX to Nashville because my mother was extremely sick(dying). However, there was a man/gentleman who just came and helped me load my luggage in my cousin's car. Didn't have to, but just did. We had masks on, but I knew the voice, the twinkle in the eyes, it was This gentleman here, Kirk Franklin. I never broke his identity. I just said, "I know you, God Bless you, and thank you!" I will never forget. This is a true, kind soul and gentleman. He walks with light. I pray he understands that "beings" are in the world to try and squash his light. I pray God will give him the strength to never let this happen 🙏🏽 🙏🏽🙏🏽❤

@@Amberxclusive you didn’t lose your faith, you were awakened to the reality that some church folk are not Christians just dressing up looking the part and going through the motions of religious traditions. Not the same as trying to live like Christ. His 33 years was the example for us to follow. So many church folk are caught up in needing to be seen and needing to be accepted by the small group of folk who run some churches that they forget all about praising and worshipping God, service which begins outside of church doors, and loving on and praying for all of humanity. I don’t know you but I can pray for your restoration back to God through developing a relationship with Jesus Christ. Girl, you are not alone. Kirk, thank you for sharing your story to the world! About 2 years ago, I discovered my Father’s biological family on Ancestry. My Father also lived his life thinking one man was his Father. My Grandmother passed away in 2005, so unfortunately my Father can’t get the truth from her. Neither gets the truth from his biological Father, since he passed in 2019. What pains me is that my Dad and myself is named after a man that we don’t share a bloodline with. It wasn’t easy revealing the truth to my Father. But as his eldest, I needed to tell him about our true identity. I finally met my biological family a year ago in SC. 3 hours away from where I live(Atlanta). My Father was skeptical meeting the family at first. He was in denial at first. But, he started to come around once he seen pictures of family members that resemble us! I was going to connect my Father with his biological Brother for the first time. My Father and Bonus Mother was going to fly in to Atlanta from Oklahoma and ride with me to SC to meet the family this year in July. Unfortunately, My Father passed away unexpectedly 2 days before Father’s Day at the age of 54. He NEVER got the chance to meet his biological family. We were so close! But God had other plans. I’m still dealing with my Father’s passing. He was my best friend. I’m grateful that my Father got a chance to know the truth about his paternity before he left this world.

This is bursting our front door down!!!! My Mom was adopted and was told her biological father was a married preacher by her Mom. I had a son by a married man in 2001. My Mom passed the same year before my son was born. But I refused to lie to my oldest son! I told him the truth from an early age because I saw how much my Mother cried before her death! I hurt when my Mom's heart was broken!! But the Lord Jesus did give my Mom love and mercy that her biological sister came before her death! The Lord gave my Mom closure! The rest of my Mom's story of who her biological father is has not been revealed! Thanks Kirk Franklin for walking this journey out publicly! Speaking of Kerry Washington, she recently said on her Breakfast Club interview that we as adults need to take responsibility for the gap between what we were given (by our parents and guardians) and what we need. I’ll add that we have to go to our Father who art in Heaven to fill that void. Put it in God’s hands and allow the Lord to be your parent, your brother, your husband, your best friend before you look for other people to complete the puzzle.

I warned my daughter about everything she was 18 and wanted to know. I can't stop crying since the documentary. Every time I watch Kirk's story, I cry because I went through one of my worst moments 15 years ago and the situations were so tough that I had to make the most difficult decision in my life. After counseling from a very good friend of mine, I chose to give my second daughter for an open adoption. I was blamed and judged by some people, and a few were kind to me. I have not received therapy for this decision since the only one I had from the adoption agency. I have been suffering inside but still praise God that I get to talk to my daughter, I will be visiting her next summer break. This will be my second visit since she was 2 years old. I don’t know the right words to use because I don't want to leave her with sadness and confusion because she has 2 loving parents that have been there for her since day one and I don't want them to feel some kind of way when I tell her what ever God will allow me to say. I have so much love for her, and I don’t know how to express it because I want her to keep being happy with the family she has. I just don't want her to worry about not being with me. She is only 14 years old and she is sensitive like me. I pray for Kirk and his children and everyone that is going through similar situations.

You can submit a DNA sample to Ancestry. That will give you a huge head start. I guarantee you will instantly find either your father, a sibling, or cousins in their database. Ancestry will even show you which cousins are related on your mother's side and which on your father's side. With technology and science being so accessible there's no such thing as anonymity anymore. I absolutely love meeting new cousins on Ancestry. Many of them were just trying to find their dad's identity and between Ancestry and Facebook we could figure it out. Out it we became friends. Don't cheat yourself of family that wants a connection with you. Good luck in your journey.

And the gentleman from his old neighborhood calling in with those memories that had Kirk in tears? Have mercy. God bless you, Kirk. We're here with you and for you man.

I am so proud of Brother Kirk for allowing God to use his story to help heal so many of us! 42:00 spoke to the teacher side of me! Lord have mercy on inner city educators who are involved in the lives of so many hurting children and youth! We have to pour into these kids! By any means necessary! He is making me think of those students that we have, that like he said, "always getting in trouble." Please use us all Lord... to show someone the way... and enable us to say... I'm available to you! Mercy. Mercy. Mercy.

Telling your story is powerful for healing. My heart goes out to you. I found out two and a half years ago at age 58. It’s a rough ride. It is a tearing down of your identity. But rebuilding is powerful too. Because you get to chose the person you grow into. Bless you for telling your story so we know that we are not alone. ❤

I just can't wait to see you in the concert in Fort Worth. Four years ago, I found out that my biological father was not the man who raised me and loved me but a man who had passed when I was 22 years old. He knew, and my mom and dad knew. At 54 years old, I'm still walking this life driven to help others in my career, but I'm broken and still standing with all the others. Keep the faith everyone. See you on the 24th, Kirk!

There seems to be trauma involved, especially with his Mother. Forgiveness is KEY! At 70 I've learned our parents had a life filled with mistakes, just as we have. However when faced with these challenges God said for us to HONOR our mother and father....there was no if they were good or bad. FORGIVENESS IS KEY.

When kids don’t know the truth they try to fill in the blanks and often think there is something wrong with them. I believe and actively practice telling kids the truth giving them age appropriate information. Kids are strong and often the adults have to cope with their own shame, regrets, and doubts…kids deserve their truth. ❤

Hear me when I say, "The tears are flowing"! I started watching this @ work. I should've waited til I got hm bc it was all I could do 2 keep myself from crying. As soon as I left the building my eyes filled w/ tears. I drive him like this. Kirk, ur story touched me in so many ways, on so many levels. I wanna say THANK U 4 being open & honest & educating us (bc there's a lesson in the entire documentary). I also wanna say THANK U 4 showing big love 2 my daughter. I surprised her w/ tickets 2 see u, Ledisi & PJ Morton in Milwaukee, November 2017. The concert was 🔥🔥🔥 from beginning 2 end! B4 it ended, u came in the audience. I motioned 2 ur security 2 ask if u could say hi 2 my daughter. They pointed her out & u gave her the biggest hug & some suga on her forehead! To this day, that has been 1 of the highlights of our lives! U didn't have 2 acknowledge her, but u did. Trust & believe IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS THAT MEAN THE MOST! I pray ur continued journey brings u love, peace, happiness, prosperity & as much closure as u can get. I'm a fan 4 life. I love u w/ the love of the Lord. Blessings... 💜 Big ups Sway, Heather B & crew!

Kirk Franklin story is one I can relate to I was put in foster care at 2 because of neglect the social worker gave my mother chance to get it together she never did all 5 of my siblings were taken. She later signed over her rights. I went to a orphanage at 3 stayed there until almost 4. Went with another family me and my younger sister but we had to end of leaving that family due to personal reasons they were having. My sister and oldest sister was adopted and I went to stay with a Pastor. Being in foster care was traumatizing. Especially when my mom would come to meeting and I would always cry and wonder why wasn't I good enough to go with her.
