The second our pets are old enough or weight enough they go to the vet to make sure that there will be no little ones of them. Heck we even get strays and ferals fixed. Which is how in many ways the street cats become house cats and never leave, One got fixed and while he comes in here and there is more of an outside cat, He only comes in or more like we force him to come in even though we have cat shelters for him and the other cats that hang around our house is when it is either a massive blizzard, freezing rain or way to damn hot.

My cat at a string from a turkey once. Don't know how that string didn't end up wrapped around his intestines but with a lot of kitty laxative and some luck the string was able to be pulled out with my mom also needing a shower and throwing away the clothes she was wearing as not only was she able to pull the string out but as she was pulling out the string well you get what else came out of the cat on her as well as that cat was using the litter box doing #2 for the next 2 days.

If your cat ever eats a string again please do not pull it out. String can actually slice through the intestines when you pull it out. It is almost impossible to save an animal's life if it's had its intestine cut in a bunch of places by a string. The intestines are about as stiff as soft butter; imagine the string cutting through butter--that is what can happen to your cat if you pull on the string. You really need a vet to ensure that you can save your cat's life. I don't have very much money so I do not let my cats play with string. I keep them in the house for the same reason. I tried to paste the link here turn article written by a veterinary company, hills. KZfaq will not let me paste a link. You can easily Google the words, DVM string cat, and obtain the same information.

@@Madronaxyz Oh that event happened over 30 years ago and the cat eating the string was a pure mishap but we kept an eye on the cat the entire time. My mom would have never pulled the string out if she wasn't sure it was safe. My mom knew the size of the string so when she pulled all she was pulling out was about an half and inch as it was the end with knot. The vet was closed at the time of the mishap and we didn't have the money for the ER vets but again kept an eye on the cat and then when the vet open went to get the cat checked out which the vet made a guess about what happened. the cat was only 6 months old and with the kitty laxatives may have prevented the string from taking hold anywhere as well as mom not pulling the string out until it was mostly passed through the cat so that it avoided any injuries.

but do they not wait until the cat or dogs are at least 6months old before neutere them?in my Country they have to be at least 6months old.
@shepherdbrooks7609
@shepherdbrooks7609 11 ай бұрын
6 months old is honestly way too late for cats, cats reach sexual maturity and can get pregnant as early as 4 months old. Dogs have some more time at 6 months for sexual maturity. Puppies and kittens can be safely spayed/neutered as early as 8 weeks old. There's medically not much to suggest that you should wait, animals should be sterilized as early as safely possible to prevent any oopsie litters. There are already too many cats and dogs and not enough homes for them.

Jeg håper katten ikke fikk en infeksjon. Det så ikke ut som de tok smittevern så alvorlig. Katten var ikke under monitorering heller. Hjertet kunne ha gitt opp midt i operasjonen og de ville ikke visst noe.

@@shepherdbrooks7609I think you are right. About three decades ago the progressive animal welfare alliance(PAWS) started pushing for a spay neuter law. The log was requiring pets be neutered and the fee for licensing your pet was about 70% lower if your pet was fixed. The reason they charge 70% less for a license for neutered animal is because that's about how much is save the county and costs running animal control when a pet can't have babies. I wrote an article about it for the local newspaper. I spoke with the director of the animal control agency. He told me that in the six months after the law went into a fact they had to kill half as many dogs if they had to kill in the six months before the law went into effect. Spaying dogs and cats early prevents so much suffering. 8:41

@@ellystjerneI practiced medicine with humans for over 30 years. I was surprised at how much looser infection control was in the veterinarian's operating room than in the human operating room. I have personally fostered over 50 dogs and a couple of cats. I would Foster more cats except that I am allergic to cats. This is giving me a lot of experience with veterinary medicine. The way dr. Jeff is running his operating room is what I see all veterinarians doing I want to mention this to my veterinarian and he said that dogs and cats don't seem to be as susceptible to infections as humans are.
