Sun Dragon Tips & Tricks

4 жыл бұрын

Welcome to another of our abundant episodes of Tips & Tricks! Everybody makes mistakes, from the most advanced knitter to our newbies who just started today. Today we are processing the art of frogging: ribbit, ribbit, I mean rip it, rip it! Frogging is pulling out your stitches, and then the next step, if you don't frog the whole thing, is getting your stitches back on the needle correctly!
Hope you all are well and safe, and may your crafting journeys be full of joy and confidence.
Lots of love,
❤️ Rebecca

If you like my t-shirt and want one just like it (Sun Dragon Swag!) you can order it straight from us (don't worry that it says "on backorder," that's just a reminder we need to place an order with the company, we don't have them in stock at our shop): sun-dragon-art-fiber.shopligh...
or order it directly from Big Frog Asheville: lovelocalwnc.itemorder.com/pr...
They are $20 (a bit more for 2X and up), and we get $10 from each shirt! There are 5 colors available, fair warning they are lighter colors of shirt than the mock-ups, and the logo is printed into the fabric, so it won't peel off.
I also offer Zoom lessons for extra one-on-one help, $15 a session (usually we limit these to 2 hours), or consider the more formal classes for instruction and projects at $25.
Current lessons rates can be found here, and you can prepay on the site, later we can coordinate our schedules!

Join our virtual knit nights too! They are not necessarily a time for one on one help, but lots of camaraderie. Tuesday and Friday nights, 6-9 EDT, Zoom code 828-877-3550 :)

Really helped me to see what actually happens with the yarn when going through both the correct knitting steps and the wrong knitting steps. Thank you for the illustrations!

Great job! You are smart for using big yarn and needles so we can all see clearly. I really appreciated your color coded illustrations. BRAVO!

Wow, the illustrations were a huge help. I have often seen videos that try to explain this just by the use of yarn and needle. This was truly helpful. Thank you.

So glad I found your video - not only is this informative, but it's great that you are located near my home town of Arden, NC. I'm living in Canada now and any reminder of home is welcome! Thank you!

This was incredibly helpful! I've saved it so I can refer back whenever I need to frog.

I am attempting to lengthen a childs sweater. This was really helpful once I got to the point after I cut the piece apart and now to get stitches oriented on needles to start knitting the extra length. Thank you so much. I often pull my own stiches out with sweater sleeves catching end of DPNs 😌😌

Hi there. Do you have a video for when you're knitting along and the stitch drops off the needle and want to quickly put it back on?

Hiii! Do you have a video tutorial on how to frog like the cuff of a sock that was knitted cuff to toe? Like to add more rows between the rib and the leg of the sock… Like is it easy to undo the cast on and undo the rib going that way or is not possible Hope you understand me 😅

Hi- I don’t have a video on that- it’s a bit complicated because it’s the opposite direction of your knitting- you can cut it about a row down and try to find the stitches once you pull out the cut pieces, but there might be a bit of a jog because you are going the opposite way ❤️

Hi, your videos are great! However, I'm making a scarf, and on the purl side I made an SSP before I needed to. I totally messed it up. How do you correctly take out an SSP for future reference (it's a long scarf and I'm sure I'll have to go back and remove an SSP again!) thank you, maureen

Hi Maureen, twisted decreases are challenging to tink….. my best advice is get your needle into the space the yarn goes through for the stitch you want to tink (through the 2 stitches below that have been decreased) to hold them in place, and pull out the top stitch. Then you may need to flip the stitches around on your needle, or even let them gently off the needle to reorient them in the right way. Good luck! ❤️❤️❤️🫶

Hi Georgia, the same principles apply, except with circular needles- work a small piece at a time to assist. If you have specific questions about issues in the round that arise, let me know, I’ll see if I can address them :)
