Much appreciated!! Very helpful. We put a man on the moon 50 freaking years ago and we can’t figure out an easier way to re-string a weed eater?
@thresaleecerda7526 Жыл бұрын
Can you also thread the new replacement string through, once it comes out the other side, pull through until half of the entire length, then twist the knob until the string has appx 3 inches on both sides. ? Anyone try this yet?

Look at the center ring on the hub, you’ll notice there are two notches on opposite sides. That’s where you place the strings so that they’re held in place while you reinstall on the trimmer without having to juggle the hub and cover while trying to feed the string through the cover. First you place the hub on the trimmer, then you pop the cover on and when you do that the strings are released from the notches and you’re ready to go.

Can you link me to the right string for this? I purchased the wrong string at lowes apparently but still works
@garnetfowler44864 жыл бұрын
Thank you...now if I can get the hub off...I push the buttons on the side but the head doesn't come off. It's new so perhaps it will get easier with use. Otherwise I'm going to take it back where I bought it and have them remove it. I'll try walking it as you said and hope that works.
@lifehacksbylw4 жыл бұрын
It may be that it is new, but it may help to try one button at a time to see if it loosens up a little as the first button is released.
@lynnwhal61904 жыл бұрын
they can be a pain, make sure u push the tab in good(i s/t have to tap on it , with something to get it loose), & yes 1 at a time can be better; also use a screw driver edge to pry up as ur thumb presses in on tab

Mine is just slightly different, but enough so that this method just doesn't work. *Why* do they have to change small details on tools? They run out of certain materials? & I don't wanna hear "they made improvements" because it's definitely not that...

Having a problem keeping string at a workable length. Bump stop is very stiff and requires a lot of pressure to depress. When depressed it seems to let out a LOT of string which the cutter takes care of but means I go through the string very quickly and require reload. Must be doing something wrong but I cannot sort out what that might be. Can you help??? Thanks
@lifehacksbylw3 жыл бұрын
2 things to check: what is the string size you are using (.065). If it's smaller than that, it may let out more than usual. Regarding bump stop, I usually clean it and spray WD40 around it so it's easier to operate.
@MrWhitelightning734 жыл бұрын

Before adding it to the stringer spool, we cut about 6 feet worth.

Thanks. How about a video for us ladies whose hands aren't large enough to push in the tabs of the hub at the same time? My daughter and I cannot remove the hub to replace the string, even both pushing and pulling at the same time. We have the battery operated 80 volt Kobalt, the 60 volt Greenworks and the 24 volt Scotts
@pearlhall37874 жыл бұрын
oops! It sent before I was ready. Anyhow, we have 3 weedwackers and we can't open the hub on any of them. Please help. What a struggle. Why don't the put the hub on with screws so us with small hands can just unscrew them to get the hub off. My goodness, not everyone has large hands. I am going to write them all a letter with that request for us small people who use weed wackers. Thanks for your time. I hope you can give me some pointers.
@lifehacksbylw4 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty removing the hub. Sometimes dirt and grass can build up and make pushing the buttons difficult. I would suggest spraying a cleaner on both buttons and then try to release 1 button at a time, the wiggle the hub off gently. There's enough play to work on the separate buttons - I've done this myself with success. Good luck!
