I had the 20RESC installed 4 years ago. I recommend checking the oil level once or twice a month and checking the battery water level regularly, at least every other month. The operating conditions are very hard on the battery. Keep an eye on the battery charging voltage on the display. 13.4v is about normal, over 14v is too much.

@@furbaez1809 The Generator, including the ATS (automatic transfer switch) and concrete pad was about 5000.00 and the installation was another 5000.00, including the gas line work, the wiring, etc. That seems to be about average; installation costs about the same as the equipment. So about 10K all in. Installation may be more or less depending on your situation. Easiest is if your Power lines and gas line all come into your house at the same location, and your electrical panel is nearby as well.

So it has to be the 1st appliance off the meter?
@5thGenNativeTexan3 жыл бұрын
Not sure what you mean by "first appliance off the meter". There's an automatic transfer switch that sits before the meter, and takes power in from both the grid, and from the generator. When it senses that grid power has been lost, it sends a signal to the generator to start, and when the generator is running it flips the input from grid to generator, thus completely replacing power from the grid. When it senses that stable grid power has been restored, it flips the transfer switch back to grid, and shuts down the generator.

For a whole-house generator like this, it all depends on what you need to carry. One, or sometimes two HVAC units, perhaps an electric water heater, etc.. and you're easily into needing 15kw or beyond.
@daddyfeed78263 жыл бұрын
You have to be able to easily start your largest electric load without creating undervoltage for what's already running, biggest starting currents are for reciprocation AC compressors, mine was 4 ton and pulled 100A starting. After I switched to a scroll type compressor, the starting current was only 20 amps. The next largest load is the electric heating coils. Also remember that if you have dual units of each of these, the dual heating or dual cooling units could theoretically go on simultaneously.

Two things mainly. Their v-twins are glorified lawnmower engines, and not very good ones at that. Don't count on them running for a week long outage. And the noise. Shrieking loud. OMG.
