Modern DLC's nowadays are just killing games in general. Good games like Payday 2 suffer from this with all of the stupid weapon and character packs that outclass all of the base guns and rendering them useless. Well, we can play every MGS (saved only by 4) on PC even at 8k if we want to, using emulators and etc.. So I think most MGS fans are "covered" on this aspect. Of course the fox engine is awesome, but that will required a whole rework regarding game design and shit. MGS3 was super slow paced and etc, the fox engine just speed the game in a significant way, it's impossible to reproduce the same levels. For me, I think it's better to just replay MGS3 on a buffed emulator or for console players, just play it again on those HD editions and etc.. The series died, we have to accept this. And the story was finished at least, that's the positive.

They're dying as a gaming company. As an organisation as a whole, you'd have to be a fool to think that Konami aren't raking it in. But as a gaming company, they're certainly becoming less relevant, as their reputation and products are beginning to be seen as a joke. I'm not gonna say "oh, they'll be gone soon", because looking at EA, it just goes to show that some idiotic gamers will put up with any amount of extortion. But their horizons aren't looking bright, that's for sure.

The thing is, they might get more money than they had before, but they will lose the respect of their true fans, and that's something they will never get back. Not saying that they care or that they will ever regret losing it, but they will still lose it. You can't have your pie and eat it too. Can't shit where you eat.

They're the people willing to put up with overpriced extortion and company abuse, where no other consumer will stay. They're also the people that keep money flowing in during dry tides, such as the January period & during economic difficulties. And not in the least, such people are unsurprisingly free and effective advertising, both by word-of-mouth and by customer reviews. If you alienate your customers, and you have no backup plan, you can usually expect to see devastating profit losses. To say a company doesn't need 'true fans' is almost as laughable as saying Konami respects its workers.

Rich (ReviewTechUSA) returned his copy of this game since he can't handle the microtransactions. It's that bad.

I looked at the preview at the demo to this and knew it was crap just from comparing it to Phantom Soldier. You started by not even giving your best deceptively, no way anyone would touch this with the Metal Gear name for 40 friggin bucks. I thought it was gonna be a little free to play with like char unlocks, and its a $40 game made to pretty much say "screw Kojima." The worst part is my friend who played metal gear since the what, 64? Claims this was somewhat a fun experience for him. I'm legit worried for the franchise seeing as i never actually played a metal gear game, but never heard bad criticism until today.

All gamers should do what happend to batman. Buy it, then return it. Make em go nuts.

It isn't because 1. You're using your own storage to install the game you paid for- for years, how is this any different? 2. They're not gating your storage, they're gating a feature within the software (which they're entitled to do, it's their software). The storage medium is irrelevant. If installing the game denied you access to your computer that would be ransomware- which is far closer to what your implication is. All in all, it's just a dick move. In reality it's just a free to play model that they've incorporated into a not free to play title. In Souls vernacular: they got greedy. We all know what happens when you get greedy in Souls, you get punished for it.

Save files are data generated by a program and stored on your machine or on a server somewhere. Imagine if you will that MS Word allowed you to save up to 10 files on your PC and charged you for each additional file you create, no it isn't technically gating your HDD but your literally paying for "privilage" or storing more data on a disk that you own.

At least it should be mentioned on the box. (Only 1 save game allowed extra save games 9,99 a piece)

In the case of Konami, they can only try to milk old franchises with MTX or sell pachinko machines and make apps. Any game they release gets no respect from real gamers

let me tell you the tale Konami appointed a new CEO who knew nothing about games, this new CEO proclaimed "Our future is in microtranactions" it didn't sit well with Kojima so protested about it, this is when bullshit started getting really petty, the cancelation of Silent Hills, the disassembling of Team Kojima, Kojima going uncredited in MGS5, and finally Kojima decided to leave Konami for greener pastures, where his talents would be more appreciated and his experience would be more respected
