Yeah, enthusiasm is fine, I guess. But I far prefer knowledge, skill, tasty preparation, clear presentation, and well organized cooking instruction. Enthusiasm is also on the list, but way down towards the end. There are lots of "enthusiastic" people on youtube, and unfortunately, that's about it. Maangchi has got it ALL, IMHO.

The enthusiasm I believe is translated to her passion about Korean culture which has a strong value of the act of sharing. Have you noticed how many subtitles our community shares with her? I'm one of them, I have around 4 videos subtitles over my translation. I wish it was more but I work as a coroner and sometimes I have 36 hours shifts inside a morgue ): But as I like to say: selfless generosity doesn't hurt.

I don‘t know if this is interesting for you, but somewhere in the Rhineland there‘s a Korean-roots famous chef called Sarah Henke (not very Korean name any more), who was found in the middle of Seoul as a baby and the adopted by a German couple. She did this tour back to Korea, too, and she wrote a book about it (and she also integrated the culinary experiences into her cooking). But I fear the book is only available in German, neither in English nor in Korean (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hKdpnduDnNbGeWg.html ). I wish you a lot of positive experiences in Korea.

I made this today and it was great! So many different flavors. I really like the green onion salad. I didn't want to throw away the rest of the dressing, so I put in the remaining chilies and garlic and added sliced radishes to eat later.

Wonderful! I usually stir fry the leftover green onion salad, chopped kimchi, and rice and eat. The stir-fried rice is very delicious. You can add a little gochujang and extra toasted sesame oil, too!

Isn't it awesome! My daughter gave me Maangchi's cookbook for my Mother's Day present! She sees me cooking all of Maangchi's recipes from her video's! Best gift ever, I absolutely love it!! It is so well written and illustrated and has tons of useful info about cooking utensils, cookware, pantry staples and frequently used food ingredients! Everything detail you need to stock a full Korean cooking pantry! (To those asking, you can purchase it on Amazon, that's where my daughter bought mine!)

I live in Manhattan near an H-Mart (Korean/Asian market chain) and you're helping me survive the lockdown. So I have access not only to the ingredients but the proper cookware! SOOOOO much cheaper than eating out! My grandmother was Chinese and a great cook. Maybe I will be able to remake her old recipes. My one change is to avoid adding sugar.

I went to South Korea twice in 2019 last time was in December. This was the first thing I ate when I landed in South Korea 🤤🙌🏽 I prefer beef bbq over pork bbq imo. The spring onion salad is amaZing! The sesame leaf is amazing also! I think it’s pickled onions with soy sauce? Whatever it was it was amazing also!

늘 잘보고 있습니다 평소에 양념 안하고 로스구이처럼 해 먹었는데 망치님 동영상대로 해먹어 봐야겠어요 그리고 늘 느끼는건데 그곳 고추가 연하고 맛있어 보이네요 요즘 한국 고추는 껍질 연한것 찾기 넘 힘들어요 오~~오이소박이 넘 맛있겠네요^^

고기는 사랑이에요😍소고기 구이는 정말 맛있죠ㅎㅎ 저도 집에서 고기를 구울때 파무침도 같이 만들어서 먹는데 역시 고기먹을땐 파무침이 잘 어울리는거 같아요😄 파무침도 아주 맛깔스럽게 보여요 약주도 곁들이시는 ㅎㅎ 아침인데도 고기가 급 땡기네요^^ 좋은 영상 잘 보고 갑니다😊
