Just to set the records straight, It's called 'Rice & Peas' and the peas are actually Red Kidney Beans along with coconut milk, escallions, thyme, green scotch bonnet peppers, black pepper, salt, pimento, ... Beef Patties are made with seasoned ground fatty beef coupled with lard inside the flaky wrap aka patty (also made from flour and lard).... The cabbage is 'steamed cabbage' usually with green or red bell peppers, some pimento or all-spice, black pepper and salt. Some Jamaicans like their cabbage separate while some like carrots combined... And finally there are a few variations to jerk chicken... It can be done in the oven (with Jerk Sauce), but traditionally its done on an open charcoal flame with the meat place on Pimento Wood or Sweet Wood which gives its unique flavour... The meat is marinated at least a day before hand and usually includes again the seasonings pimento, scotch bonnet or bird peppers, onions, escallion, tomatoes, garlic, ginger, thyme, salt and black pepper. The best Jerk Chicken can be found in Portland, because they stick to the traditional recipe that was brought all the way from West Africa. Oh BTW the soda you drank is D&G Kola Champagne and its actually made by the same company that makes our famous Red Stripe Beer.

The beef patties are amazing in Jamaica 🇯🇲. Overseas most places make a mess of the patties. As a matter of fact, if you try all that you had there in Jamaica you will see the great difference in flavour.

Idk how this video got into my feed but I’m glad to see someone tasting food from my country 🇯🇲 especially oxtails. Most people go after jerk chicken or beef patty but I’m glad to see they added some variation to it. Just like with each ethnicity not all can cook the same. Sometimes it takes a while before you find that right cook/chief. Respect and love. Be safe, happy holidays and new year to all.

Jerk chicken can taste different where you get It but it shouldn’t be significantly different. Some taste better than others though

The jerk chicken taste depends on where you go cause some people use some of the same seasonings but then they might use 2-3 other seasonings that other people don’t use.

No Jerk chicken is Originated from Jamaica ... Jamaican have their own jerk chicken sauce I love spicy but not everybody from Jamaica love it
