These 6 core exercises for swimmers will work on every part of your core: From upper and lower abs to obliques, back, lats and hips.
The only equipment you need is a band to get a great core workout! Not a swimmer? This is still a good one to target those core muscles we all need to work on:)

Don’t know how old you are, Doc, but you are a shinning example of what regular exercise can do to keep a person fit. As an old swimmer, i really appreciated this vid. More swimming exercises would be great. Was gonna say “take good care,” but there is no doubt that you are doing just that. Peace, love and harmony. ~ Mark

Great video! I’m actually going to start swimming again and would love to see what stretches you recommend to prevent injury. I have chronic neck and back pain and I think swimming could help me

@@drkristieennis Curious doc, did you have a lower back injury at one point? I herniated my disc a few years ago so the swimming is great. Just noticing people's posture now is habit.

I do that bird dog from a plank (forearms instead of hands). I think that would make it the toughest in the set.

2 months port direct inguinal hernia repair and ready to get back into the pool. Would these all be safe post hernia repair? Any modifications recommended? Really great channel! Thanks for all that you share!

Thank you! I would definitely check with your surgeon as different procedures can have different precautions.

@@drkristieennis Really appreciate the feedback. Sadly the surgeon's advice was don't do anything too strenuous for a few weeks. No real after care plan. Again thanks for the feedback and great video.

Don't swim but you got me thinking. Can you give a group of exercises for baseball or golf? I swing from the right and, after an hour in a batting cage or on a driving range, the right side of my back (middle back, around the shoulder blade) is in agony.

As a multi-sport athlete and competitive (amateur) triathlete, I find a good swim workout (especially open water) is the most satisfying and beneficial form of exercise. Along with x-c skiing in winter, swimming gives me that awesome whole body engagement and helps keep me in peak fitness with minimal impact. What do ya say we go for a swim sometime Doc?

I swim like an anvil, so no useful comments from me but…. You gotta love all the dogs. You’re in-laws should do a bed and breakfast. I could sit on the dock in the morning and pet dogs while drinking coffee. Then in the evening I could sit on the dock and pet dogs while drinking wine. My blood pressure is going down just imagining it.
