Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones, Breaking Bad) joins us this week to talk about finding the subtext in roles and how she feels the most ‘herself’ while on set - however, she opens up on how the pressure, publicity, and politics behind the scenes brings out her anxieties. Krysten talks about her enjoyment while filming Breaking Bad and what it was like to shoot one of the most gut wrenching scenes anyone has seen on TV. We also talk about how special of a show ‘Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23’ was, how she had to grow up quickly in the world of modeling, and where she thinks the future of Jessica Jones is heading.

Ritter was so damn good in her role. Her depiction was on the level of Trainspotting and even went a step further to show how two people in a relationship can unintentionally enable each other & lead to a downward spiral that either ends in inevitable tragedy or recovery.

@@Sharks256 Yeah I remember I used to like the movie Requiem for a Dream back when I was younger, but once I had my own run-ins with addiction later in life, you realize Trainspotting is incredibly accurate and Requiem is almost sheer hyberpole or at least just an unrealistic overexaggeration of addiction. Trainspotting specifically shows how addiction is a cycle of pleasure that leads to negatives in nearly every other aspect of life cause you simply just don't care about anything else anymore but it doesn't just omit the parts for why people do it in the first place. The intro monologue just says it all honestly: "Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suit on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourselves. Choose your future. Choose life… But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin’ else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you’ve got heroin?"

Which is why it's so sad that most production companies ditch shows after one season if it isn't an instant big-titted hit... and yet somehow hang onto stuff that is objectively bad. Like who's watching The Mandalorian? Seriously. I guess it's still on? All that budget and they couldn't hire a single decent writer? Imagine if BB were given the Firefly treatment. How much we would have missed out on. Even just in terms of Better Call Saul. No Kim? No Lalo? I don't want to live in that world. Props to AMC for sticking with it. Though they probably should have cut their losses with Walking Dead a long time ago.

@andy2172

She was an accident waiting to happen, would've died sooner or later, she was an addict. Technically, Walt shouldn't have been there in the first place, so she would have died anyway. Was part of Walt's descent into becoming Heisenberg, but at that point he didn't want to lose Jessie and watch him OD either. Morally it was wrong, but I can also see why he was trying to save Jessie from the same fate as Jane. Of course, as he became more psychopathic, he lost sight of his humanity, but even in the end, he went back for Jessie.

Yes...but he wrote the damn thing. It's like saying Joe Dante disnt direct Gremlins.. which also feels Spielbergy and most assume he directed it cause his name appears before the title and he help shape that script.
