I'll never forget when you said, years ago, that what most people have is "a lot of garbage." I'm always reminded of this when I see a hundred pounds of cheap plastic items filling up people's lives. No heirlooms, no quality, no expertise. Just cheap garbage.

Peace and blessings to you all from Ireland. Sometimes what a person wants may not be good for them. What we need is warmth, shelter, food, water, love, access to education to be nurtured and held. To be involved in our community as the saying goes "it takes a village to raise a child". Being humble, vulnerable and most of all being compassionate towards ourselves and those around us. Love doesn't see colour, ethnicity, religion. Through the eyes of love and compassion we see who we really are beautiful souls all of us. In my sociology theory class we learned about how structural theorists believe there is a disconnect in modern society between real needs and false needs and that false needs are often 'disguised' as real needs in capitalist society so the lower classes keep consuming in order to fuel wealth for the ruling class. Your discussion reminded me to continue to go against that current, and really focus on my true needs as a person in order to realize my wants! and to prioritize them! I been having a hard time in school this year because I keep wanting to escape the work, but the work gives me the education I need to keep living! especially through pandemic times. I need food, shelter, water, love, knowledge, connection with other people, and purpose! There's probably a few i forget but those should predicate my wants! I want to be compassionate, I want to spend time with family, I want to cook, I want to learn!
