Avenues mall is so massive where u can find everything and definitely not recommended for someone to walk in heels. Dec, Jan and Feb is a really good weather but be ready during summer season because the scorching heat is unbelievable. Its like the planet mars is only a mile away.

We're currently traveling in India and Pakistan, and have had some scorching hot days... in Delhi the forecast was 42C, feels like 50C, because of the haze. I am so pleased we went to Kuwait in January... the perfect time to go 😁🤗

Yet another excellent view on a part of the world some of us have not seen. I did notice that applying the word frugal would require redefining it though. I know everything is relative but it certainly should stop some of us whining, me included, about how much it all costs in (fill in the part of the world you live in).

Yes, it would be nigh on impossible to travel in Kuwait on our standard US$25 per person per day budget, but that's why it's an average, as all those months housesitting in Portugal meant we in theory have more to spend elsewhere. That's if you can get past the incredible generosity of the Kuwaiti people... and our host, Khaled was absolutely amazing! I really didn't know what to expect from Kuwait, but we had an excellent time there and I would love to return, as there's still so much more to see! ~ Mandy 😀😁

WOW! The mall is beautiful and it is huge. It is an expensive country, 1 Dinar equals to $3.26. I am glad to view the world through Mandy’s and Lee’s lense. I noticed Mandy wears a scarf over her head, I wonder if it is a custom there. Another fun and informative video. I am behind and I am catching with your videos. I hope you know how much your lovely comments mean to us 🙏🤗 The Kuwaiti Dinar is very strong but it is still possible to find some great bargains there, especially when it comes to food and public transport. I didn't have to wear a scarf but as most Kuwaitis, male and female, wear traditional dress, including head coverings, I decided to wear a headscarf when we were around others. We love our frugal travellers community, and are so happy that you are such a strong part of it, Sue! 😀😁 ~ Mandy

@@inkeffect5235 A great question! I wore a headscarf when we were with Khaled, our Couchsurfing host, as he always wore traditional clothes and I wanted to be similarly dressed. Hi Mandy / Lee, Thanks for that Kuwait video as so little is known about that country. These type of mall are insane, they are so massive & luxurious. Everything is made for people to stay & spend their money. That said, I've no idea how shops make any money to pay the rent. We barely see anyone & the minimum wage being 75 Kuwaiti dinars (KWD) 90% of the local working population is employed by the government, this means that the private sector is mostly composed of foreign individuals. Looking forward for part 2, You guys have a lovely Sunday down under, take care 😊 PS: 1st time I see a curved stair-elevator!

It's a lovely sunny Sunday morning here in Auckland - quite a contrast from that cold and wet day in Kuwait! We had such a brilliant time in Kuwait, and I really hope I can share just how amazing the country and its people are! We definitely aren't mall people but had so much fun at The Avenues! That computer screen floor was amazing, as was the curved escalator... I'm so pleased it was new for you as well, as afterwards I was thinking that maybe it is a common thing 🤣😁 We went in the morning on a Tuesday (if I remember rightly) which is normally a quiet time for malls all around the world 😁😀 I had originally planned to make one video on our First Day in Kuwait, but there were so many wonderful things to share that I decided to break it into 2 blogs. I really hope you enjoy Part 2 next week, and that the upcoming videos show viewers exactly why I love Kuwait! ~ Mandy 😀😁

Hello Vlad! Thank you for the great question. I wasn't required to cover my hair but as our host and so many other Kuwaitis wear traditional clothes, I decided to cover my hair. I also wore a fleece to cover my arms, which was actually very practical as it was so cold in Kuwait in January! ~ Mandy 😁😀

@@julieeggleton9743We received a few offers from Kuwaiti hosts on Couchsurfing, and I think we were incredibly lucky to have been hosted by Khaled 😊 You will see him a lot more in upcoming videos. We are still in regular contact with him as he's become a very good friend. I'm sure I would have mentioned our channel when requesting a Couchsurf in Kuwait ... Khaled has been waiting patiently since the beginning of January for us to get to the Kuwait videos 😁😊 ~ Mandy

I think you do not know a lot about charitable organizations in Kuwait and their assistance around the world for Muslims and Non-Muslims, not to mention government aid. You have to read before judging.

We don’t expect anyone to carry any burden, but just for your information, in the Gulf War, Jordan, Yemen, Sudan, Algeria, Libya, and of course Iraq all were against Kuwait, mostly because of jealousy of the oil and prosperity Kuwait has; so we don’t exactly have the best relationship with the governments of those countries, and as always, politics is much more complicated than “oh this refugee is an Arab why don’t you take them in”, that would be like saying Indians should take in Pakistani refugees if hypothetically there was a war in Pakistan just because they all look the same to some ignorant person like you who has no idea about the history and politics of the people and region
