Hey that's my great grandpa's pharmacy at 2:35 His name was Abdulilah Al-Qenai. He started his training at the British Clinic in 1909 and a few years later became the first pharmacist/doctor to practice modern medicine and surgery in Kuwait. He worked in that office in Mubarakiya up until the late 1930's. By then the government had officially established the Department of Health and he had to close down his practice for health reasons. I never met him but my grandma used to talk about him a lot. As a little kid she worked with him as a sort of pseudo-assistant preparing patients and whatnot.

Mandy and Lee, thank you for another great and fun video. The Damma game looks intimidating, but it looks like Lee got the hang of it. The tea made from dried limes sounds wonderful. I think Dates from this part of the world are the best! 😋 Khaled is awesome who described different type of dates and sweets well. It looks like Khaled knows everybody in the market. I wonder what the juicy dates cost per kilo?

There is good and bad people all around the world. My brother used to live in Kuwait and he told me Kuwaits are very nice and hospitable people. I have not been to many gulf countries other than Saudi Arabia and UAE.God bless you guys

We're more market people than mall people ourselves, but The Avenues Mall was truly an awesome experience 😁 I'm so pleased you enjoyed our interactions with the locals. Kuwaiti people are so kind and their hospitality is incredible, which is something we really wanted to share with our viewers. We spent 6 days there, and saw so much thanks to Khaled's wonderful enthusiasm that there are at least 3 more videos to come. Kuwait was so much more amazing than we could ever have imagined, and I really hope we can return in summer to experience those 50C days! Salem dears, I'd like to share a tip. When preparing tomato sauce put a spoon of dates molasses it cuts the acidity and gives a sweet note to the sauce. It is healthy and nutritious. Love and blessings from Algeria.

What an incredible place! Never had a sweet based in rose water before. Would love to try it. A date souk! Who knew? 🤷 M&L-Looks like you were struggling to try all those dates you were offered. 😅 Other than the texture, did you find the sweetness also varied among the different types? Curious as my taste for sweets appears to be diminishing with age. Thanks for another great video. Cheers. 🥂

We had such an amazing time at this souk... there was so much more to show but I had to be ruthless with my editing otherwise the video would have been twice as long 😜🤣 I must confess that I didn't actually like dates at the time... my love for dates started in Saudi Arabia. Lee loves dates though and was very pleased to take any that I couldn't eat 😊😁 I've asked him and yes, the different types of dates varied in terms of texture and sweetness, and he preferred the ones oozing with date syrup. I work here as an overseas contractor (more than 2 years living here) and I am here to personally say they are definitely rude and entitled. They will be nice to you where they know they have to see tourists… . Even then it’s iffy

I worked in Kuwait as a teacher at the ministry of education for 24 years . At my voluntary resignation I got shocked when the ministry took almost half of my pension 4256 KD ( 14000 $) under the name of indebtness which I knew nothing about . And when I made a written complaint they refused it verbally on the telephone .

This is not the place where you try to tarnish the reputation of a country, there are work agreements for those who come from abroad. If you are honest, you'd go to court, not KZfaq comments. But some people ungrateful.
