Pro tip: if u manage to put wild lox into a pit with greydwarfs, lox will farm them. 0 maintenance setup :) lox is also very powerful with decent regen it never dies. Collecting gets bit dangerous though, need good armor.

Briefly here I'll just say that tutorial vids should be no longer than is necessary, should contain all relevant info and explain why everything is needed to be the way you're showing it / explaining it. Tried this with zero star wolves and they got slaughtered, most damage was poison from the dwarf shamans, but looking at the valheimwiki fandom page out of curiosity after reading your comment the two star wolves have triple the health of the zero star ones. I ended up giving up on wolves and went with the hearths instead. They're actually surprisingly low maintenance i found. But now seeing their increased health online, i see now where i might have gone wrong. I have been lucky enough to tame 1 star wolves for breeding which made for a tough few in-game days (and nights!). I think i'll stick with the hearths for now, although it was cooler to see the carnage taking place in 'the pit'. lol in my early attempts I also walled off the spawner and just loaded campfires inside it about 3-4 deep from the centre but that's seriously high maintenance, not an afk style method. Always on lookout for that two star though! 🐺⭐⭐ peace😉

@@audunms4780 yep, and 1 star also. If you manage to bag one, don't leave it's side till tame - and successfully reproduced with another wolf, it will despawn, found that the hard way. best of luck

You have to sit and babysit this to work for the spawn point to spawn greydwarves or whatever spawn point your using so afk at the site is your best option, and won't work if your not there.

The trench needs to be pretty far out, because the trolls have quite a reach with those throws or swings of the club.

@@atlantic_love I agree, I usually go 3 to 4 floor boards wide with the trench. But yea wider is better.

Build a moat

You can either heavily protect yourself with a moat or high terrain walls or you can just keep one eye on the screen and come fight the raid if it happens

without mods no but theres a mod so campfires and hearts dont take damage from the greydwarfs or any other mobs :D goodluck

This video appears to have been made after the patch that made it so that campfires and hearths take damage. And the guy says some things in the video that make me believe that he ALREADY KNOWS THIS. He says that you'll need to repair the hearths occasionally. And you should easily be able to do that by dropping down and running around on the two-stone-floors-stacked rim that he's placed around the hearths. The mobs might throw rocks at you but I doubt they'll be able to hit you.
