Band Maid are their own category honestly. No comparison or hate to other groups, but this just an absolute showcase of musical talent. Top to bottom insanity. I'd love to see them get the recognition they deserve, but I'll settle for another person nerding out.

One of the reasons I keep coming back to Band-Maid is that each person -- including Saiki -- has an independent line that fits tightly into a larger catchy narrative. I can't think of a single Band-Maid song that we label as "chaotic" that I can't also instantly sing back at least the central verse & chorus elements. Sometimes it defeats my brain as to how they do this.

I always get a little teary eyed at the bass breakdown in "From now on". This whole EP is a battering ram of awesome rock music.

MISA's bass in "from now on" is a similar style to that "Dawn Winery Theme" they did for Genshin Impact. It's interesting, normally MISA does not do this type of meditative solos.

the band has developed there own sound from the rest of bands from japan and the world due to the funky brakes in the songs .....they are charting there own course in music

@@L33ReactsAs far as screamo thankfully we have Hanabie for that. But yes through Band-Maid's crazy genre blending they are creating and bringing forth their own unique new color to music, one might even describe it as 'Cool Blue"

Also, listening to you at the end of the video now, how they just help you feel better. That is a fact and you'll see so many testimonials as to how this band helped folks through rough times. I'm one of many. Their music has this magical ability to leave you feeling better every time. Even after years - it doesn't weaken their power to give happiness. They are a miracle band, flat out.

The song Sense the orchestral opening was composed by Kanami Tono lead guitar , the song was for an anime Platinum End , during their Oct 2022 tour Sense was the opening song , that was a great line you said , like a futuristic Vampire techno bar , Cool Blue , MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! the Barefoot Bass Assassin.

@@L33Reacts She does, right? But she's also really meticulous and a hard worker. She charts out and studies all of her drum parts. And Kanami is always egging her on.

In Unleash!!!!!, you are hearing Kanami's Eventide H8 Harmonizer pedal. And Cool Blue? Is this a Hollywood production? And Akane throws in the double pedal in places where it shouldn't work, but in the overall way Band-Maid's music is, it DOES fit. And once Kanami asked on Twitter if she should stop putting in solo's believe it or not. The overwhelming response was to keep the solo's. All the Ladies need was 1 more song and this would have been considered a full album. Which makes me wonder why they didn't go ahead. Unless it was an issue with their label. And Saiki's vocal range is between 2.4 and 2.75 octaves, while Miku's is just over 3 octaves. The problem is Miku doesn't have the same vocal power that Saiki does. I would love if they would rerecord Hate? with the dueling solos in the bridge and release it. And the Ladies have other instrumentals that I think you would enjoy. Some are intended ONLY as instrumentals, but some are instrumental versions of their other songs, that without the vocals you hear all of the undertones that you miss, and they are even more impressive. Wall of Chaos? Many of us say the Ladies have a new and improved version of the "Wall of Sound" Not like Phil Spector's wall of sound but their own version that is much better. Especially since Phil Spector's wall of sound was mono only, and the Ladies use stereo sound to it's maximum effect. And "Different"? That is another Band-Maid song you should check out. Look for their double feature of "Dice-Different" from one of their online concerts. I think you will appreciate it. Especially as you heard Dice with Hate?.

I know the old saying is true that musical taste is subjective but IMO there’s also objective standards that have to come into play. There are tons of people that don’t like the best, most popular, bands of the past but they would not be taken seriously by anyone if they would say “The Beatles are terrible” for instance. People can acknowledge musical greatness when they hear it, even if they aren’t personally drawn to it. I really, truly, honestly, believe Band Maid is in that kind of “objectively great” category. They excel at everything that can be measured objectively, or fairly assessed in a detached manner. And it does seem to be true that the more people who hear them the more people will like them… despite the language barrier.

I can find little to now flaws in the stuff I've been hearing from them. Not only that, but they do things WAY better then their contemporaries. And they work so well as a unit and as individuals. Just stellar work all around.

Unleash EP was pretty maniacal even compared to Unseen World. Vocal melody is poppier, catchier than UW imo but Balance and Corallium especially sound almost schizophrenic to me. They've performed quite a few new songs during the 10th anniversary tour in Japan, and have some mid-tempo songs. I love their slower songs too. Can't wait to get their new album or EP when it comes out perhaps sometime next year. 😊 Oh and thanks for the nice comment about Saiki. Not many reactors go into that much details about her vocal ability. Saiki's range used to be more limited and Miku used to sing the super low and super high part. Now Saiki has developed nearly as wide range as Miku (yes, Miku still has a slightly wider range) Honestly, her vocal line is super hard to sing. Her breath control, fast and/or rhythmic singing that dance with other crazy instruments are hard to match. She's way under-appreciated. She's the least talked about in any reactions I've seen.

I think people talk less about Saiki because she is a frontwoman, and it kind of goes without saying for many that she is the center of the band. Also, vocals is the most common thing in music, each one of us can sing to a certain degree. And Saiki's vocals are not crazy or extraordinary, she's not Peter Hammill or Barbra Streisand. So, people kind of put the checkmark there, "good vocalist - check," and proceed to comment on instruments, which are truly extraordinary in BAND-MAID. I should say, it's like this for me as well. Saiki is very good, her voice is magical, but in the context of BAND-MAID, she is like the air we breathe: vitally important, but not immediately noticed.

@@VladimirChupin Vlad, sure, we can sing. I have wider range than both Miku and Saiki, I can hold a note a lot longer but I'm not a good singer😁. There are many vocalist who has great voice, amazing range, but they don't do what she does. She is actually more extraordinary than most people would think, but unfortunately not in obvious way. For example, you won't go, "what a voice she has!" by hearing her sing, but she's got the great voice with strong rock energy on stage, and god, you'd think you can sing and you can't really sing in a way she does and I doubt that many so called extraordinary singers can either. She's a vocalist and part of rhythm section at the same time in my opinion, and that's exactly what Band-Maid needs and that's why no other extraordinary vocalist can replace her. But I would've agreed with you about Saiki 4 or 5 years ago.

@@lurkmerchant What I wanted to say is that Saiki's vocals for many reactors are not shocking, and thus they don't speak about them. You have to be a professional vocalist yourself to truly understand how great she is. She never hits a wrong note, and her breath control is perfect. But it's the absence of mistakes, you see. Just nothing scratches you when you listen to BAND-MAID live. Her level of greatness suddenly becomes obvious when you try to listen to other bands live. For me, it's almost each time, "Damn, this singer is not that good..." Of course, there are real pros, who don't make mistakes, but then again, if nothing scratches you, you do not consider it an achievement 🤷‍♂ I remember I listened to a stream where the second band was ASTERISM (when they were still instrumental-only). The first band, the one which played before them, had a female singer, and damn, she was REALLY awful. She sounded like a person in headphones who tries to sing along-if you have ever witnessed it, you know that it's usually a terrible howling, really painful to hear. Maybe her in-ear monitors were not working or something, I don't know. Then ASTERISM played their part, and suddenly Maki Oyama went on stage! And man oh man, was she singing! I was sitting there almost crying, so perfect she was, especially after that first girl from an earlier band. We appreciate greatness by comparison...

Agree with Vlad, here. Saiki's range, which I think is about three octaves, isn't remarkable by pro standards. It's good but it's not shockingly wide, so the vocal nerds aren't as likely to go nuts over her. But she has some other really important qualities and skills. She's got a great timbre/tone and power. They make her voice really fitting and appealing in B-M. Her tuning (and Miku's, too) is also great. Her voice is usually really stable except for when she's a bit fatigued and pushing to the edge of her belting range. But that's something every singer deals with. Her breath control is absolutely remarkable, especially given the density and amount of lyrics. And, IMO, she makes really compelling choices with vocal techniques and effects (vibrato, fry, head voice, aggression, etc.). I've noticed her really mature and get better and better with each release/tour. Some singers have great range but don't always sound great or make great musical choices.

Oh, and you're absolutely right about "Balance" and "Corallium." They are somewhat schizophrenic by design. "Balance" is heavily referencing 1940s-50s swing music and a Caribbean feel in the bridge. I think the unusual syncopation, particularly in the second half of the verses, is a meshing of the two. It's a little hard for some people to get their heads wrapped around but, as a drummer, I dig it. That song has grown on me quite a bit. "Corallium," as I'm sure most people here know already, is a blend of "city pop" and something like punk-ish groove rock and beyond. It's not one of my favorite tracks yet, every time I hear it I think, "Geez, that's really cool."

Literally just finished watching/listening your last video/reaction of the 2nd disc of Unseen World an hour ago as I was doing work. I was planning to go to bed. But No, you just had to upload a full listen of the Unleash!!!!! EP. I'm getting no sleep. (Miku said "work harder") This EP is Kanami basically saying she needs to get out. She was stuck indoors for almost 2 years, she was frustrated, she missed her bandmates, and she wrote lots of heavy, angry music. LOL. And considering everyone else felt the same way, as soon as they could, the maids released Unleash!!!!! Band-Maid came out of the pandemic swinging and on full throttle. Add in the 2022 and 23 US tours, multiple festivals, their 10th year anniversary tour in Japan and a huge surge in new fans and they are now "cool blue"! (I found a way.) WORLD DOMINATION 世界征服! ....ぽ

This band always ceases to amaze me. They are very talented, to say the least. I'm not the biggest heavy metal listener, but after joining this channel Lee and all of you have had me change my mind a little about this kind of music. Why not open my mind to more of this music. They have 4 purpose written instrumentals. BUT, many instrumental versions of their regular songs, usually on a bonus CD/DVD combo with a regular release. The Unseen World was also put out as all instrumentals! Many of these videos are floating around the web.

@@L33Reacts No, "THRILL" is on their second one, "New Beginning." Although it was initially released on a single called "Matador of Love and Passion" (which they translated officially as "Love, Passion, Matador" which is pretty strange). By the way, the song itself, "Matador of Love and Passion" (愛と情熱のマタドール) is really good. It has a Santana vibe because Santana is Kanami's favourite musician. I hope they will play it live at one of the OKYUJIs, they did not do it for ages.
