So if both are conducting, then how can there be a current in the D1 branch? Vb = 0 volts and the other end of D1 is connected to ground, so how is there a potential for the current to flow?

+JuGGerJuGGs We are using an ideal model - ie. the diode acts as an ideal switch with no voltage drop across it. Because the lower side of the 5 K ohm resistor is tied to -10 volts, there is a 10 volt drop across the 5 k ohm resistor which draws 10 mA. But only 1 mA comes through the 10 k Ohm resistor. The other 1 mA comes through D1 from ground. In reality, there is approximately a .7 V drop across the diode needed to overcome the junction potential Vo

if we assume D1 is on and D2 is off, how would we know if the voltage drop across 10 k-ohm resistor doesn't exceed 10 volts, making the node voltage less than 0 at the node right above D2? Wouldn't that then mean D2 is off?

if we change the resistors, it means 5 K to 10 and 10 K to 5 K,what will happen? can u explain?

can we use piecewise linear model as assumption which Vgamma =0.7v? hence give Vb =0.7v.I need your replyy
