Days of the Dead Louisville 2016 hosted a great Ladies of Nightmare on Elm Street Panel featuring Lisa Wilcox, Brooke Theiss, Amanda Wyss, and Heather Langenkamp. Please excuse any audio issues (we know..it’s crap), there were problems with the house audio. We’ve also included some photos from the panel in our site post which we've linked to below.

Patricia Arquette had a miserable experience making Elm Street 3. Director Chuck Russell would often berate, humiliate and scream at her in front of everyone during long, exhaustive shooting days, causing Heather Langenkamp to step in and complain to producers at how she was being treated. They talk about it on the Never Sleep Again documentary. THAT'S why she refuses to talk about Elm Street and turned down part 4.

Alice and Nancy were two of my first crushes. And yes, I mean the characters. They're probably why I'm attracted to strong but gentle women. Ironically, 80's movies were some of the most feminist mainstream movies, and there was a variety of strong woman types in them. You had the more masculine women like Ellen from the Alien movies and Sarah from the Terminator movies. Then you also had heroes like Nancy who were still quite feminine, but powerful.

And then now, u have feminists heroes as characters and it just doesn’t work. These characters were heros... who happened to be female. But now hollywood has “female heroes” and it doesnt stick the landing

I agree with you both. Slashers were essentialy real feminist movies cause they were heroines that survived the monsters. A lot of times with their smarts. They were charming smiling beautiful girls who didn't need to be manly for it. And even Ripley, the fact that she was a female was never brought up, she was just a good character period.

Thanks for posting. I was fascinated with the Nightmare movies as a teenager and loved listening to these ladies. So gracious of them to participate in these panels. I enjoyed the characters of Nancy and Alice the most. I enjoyed hearing that they seem friendly with eachother and still honor these movies as part of their past. I also watched Just the Ten of Us. It's funny they mention how Freddy had a sexy way that he moved and portrayed himself. I always thought that about the character and it felt nice to hear them confirm that it was intentional. Never saw the remake because I love the originals so much!

@@kailewis6520 Freddy actually had a story to tell in the sequels. Jason literally was the same every movie with no story. Michael was a continuous story that got stale quick after about the 5th film.

Wow asll these ladies still look great Heather is obviously the queen of the series because she was the first to play that strong lead female character in a NOES series and survivor (up till part 4 ) and has been in 3 NOES films (part 1, 3 and Wes Craven's New Nightmare . Lisa Wilcox is beautiful so are Amanda Wyss and Brook Theisse Not surpises Patricia Arquette isn't there because she's too good for this series now *roles eyes* . Tuesday Night was unfortunately (and always will be) the unwanted one in the series because she had to replace Arquette. Not her fault though. Arquette did such a great job in A NOES: Part 3, she was un replace able

Geeked-OutTurtlesFan37 I’ll never understand the hate for Tuesday Knight. She killed her role in part 4, and even sang the intro song. Patricia Arquette doesn’t care about her fans so why show her loyalty. Tuesday Knight should’ve been the original Kristen

Roy W I prefer Patricia Arquette but I think because she defined the role anyone else playing her was gonna fail. Plus Arquette and the other cast members had chemistry already. With that being said I think Knight gets unnecessary slack. It wasnt her fault Arquette had chemistry already with the other cast members. To blame her like others have is ridiculous. Shes still part of the NOES legacy.

@@alecboyce1998 She enjoyed doing the Dream Warriors and stated she would love to do these, but has never been asked or even given an invitation. She didn't do the Dream Master because the character of Kristen completely changed from the wholesome innocent shy girl to a rebellious chain smoking tough teen. She didn't like the new Kristen and that she was killed later, so she passed.

@ 2:00 mark I can imagine Freddy's hand coming through the top of the microphone and slashing her face leaving four bloody scratches with her then screaming her lungs out then passing out falling onto the floor and then just laying there bleeding to death while everybody else is screaming and running for their lives. I think maybe I've watched one too many Nightmare on Elm Street movies too many times...

Do any of these conventions ever do mic checks prior to the panels? I've been to several and it always seems like there is some problem with the mics. Either that or the acoustics are so bad that you can't hear them anyway. I just went to a con in Charlotte last weekend and it was the same deal. Couldn't hear half of what they were saying even though there was zero crowd noise.

Most panels that we have been to have some sort of audio problem, or too few microphones, or something that causes issues.

There wasn’t any way for us to plug into their audio system directly, so we just had to use the shotgun mics on the cameras we used to capture sound, and the set up they used obviously had some issues regardless.

Too bad they couldn't get Patricia Arquette. She did a great job in IV, but declined to do V due to the character change and then her getting killed off in the movie. So, she declined after reading the script for DREAM CHILD. Amanda, first saw her in Fast Times at Ridgemont High as Brad's girlfriend. Heather, was NOES, then ZZ TOP's music video Sleeping Bag, and of course NOES 3.

This was good cuz sometimes I feel as dedicated as Brooke Theiss is to these conventions I mean she never misses one which is great, sometimes the fans and hosts tend to ignore her too much as opposed to others with her. I get it, Heather and Lisa are centers of attention. Amanda will always have a lot to say cuz of her famous scene. But Brookes scene though not as famous, still she should be given some attention. Might I say as fine as these 4 are already, I think Brooke aged just as well as the others too.

a microphonaguest is messing with the sound there call someone to excessive I mean get rid of the ghost and for some reason I'm thinking of Thirteen Ghosts one of my favorite movies I would like the horror legacy of Wes Kraven to keep going I've got the complete Nightmare on Elm Street collection and my favorites are Dream Warriors Freddy versus Jason and the first Nightmare movie there was a aeries called Post Mortem which has interviews with horror directors and actors it's great well in addition to the Nightmare movies I enjoyed the series Nightmare Cafe which I wanted any network to bring back it was excellent so if anyone knows where I can get that series on a blue Rays set let me know I miss that television show also wanna see another Freddy versus Jason movie there was a hint of it happening again even though Freddy's head got chopped off at the end by the way Jason Voorhees can run he doesn't walk slow all the time and does not kill animals he just doesn't Michale Myers walks slow all the time and kills animals both are not related to each other even though ya know the similarities each have there was this series I think it was called scream queen where females competed to prove they could do horror scenes for the chance at a movie contract as I watched it some were alright others not doing well in the acting out scenes there are directors that don't put up with nonsence from the actors thinking they know everything one last thing is I enjoy movie horror trivial it's fun learning the history of it all everything so you fans check that out test others and if you end up in JigSaws traps work together and help each other to make it out alive ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
