I bought myself the tea pot to match my wedding china on our 20th anniversary. I got it on ebay, it was the first item the seller had ever sold, she was all the way over in California, we enjoyed emailing each other to get that pot to the East coast! I love tea pots, have several family pots (alas, my sister got the one chocolate set!), & my grandmother’s percolator she got when she got married in 1936, beautiful art deco handle. Also a set of Kutani geisha ware with beautiful painting that was my great-grandmother’s. Love looking for pots when I’m thrifting.

These are all lovely, Lady Mary Beth, and thank you for sharing them with us. A friend has the Wedgwood Wild Strawberry pattern, which is always beautiful. I have Wedgwood Jade, including the teapot in the same shape as your W.S. teapot. Those oval teapots commemorating anniversaries of Queen Elizabeth II are adorable. That reminds me, I saw an online shop that had a cup & saucer to commemorate the coronation of King Edward VIII (the British king who abdicated), but when I went to "click", I was too late. Wares with his name and likeness on them are rare. Thanks again.

I found an Old Britain Castles teapot like you have at the charity store of the Salvation Army few weeks ago. I'm not too much into one color landscape patterns but have few ones like Sunday Morning by Grindley,Blue Willow by Churchill,Landscape blue by Arabia and this one is the latest. The pattern is pretty beautiful but the shape is something I've never come across before. So I had to have it in my large ok ok huge collection. I also brought home with me from Paris yesterday an Alt Amsterdam coffee pot(same shape as Amapola I saw in another video from you) by Villeroy & Boch that I found at the Marché aux puces de saint-oven market and it's so beautiful. Elegant,modern yet has a older vibe to it. This market is a must for serious collectors. I think I spent over 4 hours there and I was always seeing something I missed you really have to look in every corners and take your time.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful tea pot collection. My mother had a collection and I inherited it, I started adding some more pieces, but I definitely stopped because I only have two boys and only my single son likes old things. Also I live in the Phoenix area and there is too much dust and it gets everywhere, very difficult to handle the porcelain with fear of breaking it when you clean it. I have Meissen and Belleek, but I also have Lladro and Nao porcelain figures, carnival glass, uranium glass, murano glass and all works of art, so I only look for quality instead of quantity.

Hello. My husband and I enjoyed watching your video on teapots. However, I couldn’t help but notice that the stops on the lids are positioned in the front, not the back . I worked for Wedgwood, and I can assure you that they are designed to be in the back. That way, when you pour , the stop holds the lid on the teapot. If the stop is in front, the lid is able to just roll off the pot . Of course, gently placing your hand or fingers on the lid is still a good practice. Thank you for sharing your teapot collection with us. Yours, Jayne

Beautiful collection! The peacock and the blue and white VB Burganland are my favorites. I have a question, I've noticed in some of your videos you've used a tea warmer underneath a teapot... I recently found a metal one at a thrift store that uses a tealight. Can these be used with any teapot? Does it matter if it's bone china, porcelain, etc? I don't want to damage any of my older ones, but do enjoy using them. Thanks for all the great videos!
@LadyMaryBeth Жыл бұрын
A warmer can be used with any teapot, as long as it fits. Some are made to match a pattern and are not universal. Be sure to blow out the tea light if the pot is empty. It could leave a burn mark inside your teapot.

I have FINALLY discovered a person who loves teapots (also coffee pots, crystal & china) as much as I do!!!! What a LOVELY collection! I have a deep affection for Queen Elizabeth II, so I understand why that particular teapot is your current favorite. I have been an Anglophile all my life, maiden name Browning, though I have never been to Great Britain, or England in particular. As I live in a condo, I have to be extremely particular about what I have the space to own. Still, we’re I to find some of those beauties on eBay, I don’t think I could have resisted. For personal tea parties do you do any of the cooking or food prep yourself or do you cater always?
@LadyMaryBeth3 жыл бұрын
Great to hear from you! We are definitely kindred spirits. When hosting tea in my home, I prepare the food. If it's German coffee hour, I bake traditional cakes. For an English tea, I make scones and a mock Devonshire cream (recipes on my website). I am not great at tea sandwiches since I don't enjoy them (odd, I know). Today, I am preparing 100 chocolate dipped strawberries for a friend's event. Hope you get to England someday. I have not been in years. We spend summers in Germany, but it still seems so far away when we are on the Continent.

Do they contain lead, are they safe to use for tea?

Most of my teapots are bone china. They do not contain lead. It’s a type of porcelain created from bone ash, feldspathic material, and kaolin. The “faience” are transferware and not hand painted.

I have never heard of having more than one teapot on the table.

I often offer two types of tea, especially with younger guests. They might prefer a fruit tea over black tea. It's common to change teas with each course of an English afternoon tea.

Temper your teapots! Just fill with hot water while you boil the water. Then pour the water out from the spout before placing your teabags and boiled water. This reduces the shock to your pots.

What‘s the point of a „tea for one“? Since the tea pot is not actually used for brewing the tea as a dedicated vessel with a big mesh filter will make superior tea, the actual tea pot is only used for serving the finished tea. But if I‘m going to fill only one cup, why the tea pot for that one cup?
