Happy New Year! I brought you an update on LaGuardia Airport's Terminal C construction in October but since then an exciting change occurred with the opening of new gates that are actually old gates in a unique type of refurbishment! This video focuses on this "refurbished" and not "brand new" area.

I can't get over how super niche your content is and how excited I get about every post! I'm impressed that they're going to keep that old C concourse! I was frustrated during the renovations because as lovely as the new construction is, I felt that building was modern enough and it would be a waste to demolish it. The whole new airport all follows one look on the exterior (at least B+C) so Im curious how that structure will look once they demolish the old C house.

Thanks for the updates at LGA Terminal C. I agree with you that it is nice to be reminded of the past by the areas that were left intact.

@@PeterMasella i took a delta flight from providence to laGuardia last year and i got to experience the new and old sections of the terminal, my return flight was parked at the old gates and i did feel a little disappointed that i didn't get to board from the new gates. but i did get to see the video art at the TSA area which was amazing. I understand that although some parts of the terminal are not finished, i can't wait to use this terminal for my leisure relaxation flights. excellent video by the way

Nice update. Always looking forward to your next. Thanks for the great work you do. Would love for you to give an update of bigger airports like LAX now that they’ve opened up all the terminals behind security and JFK to talk about what the plans are and how they’ll implement the new replacements terminals. Like Old and new especially JFK before demolition.

It is nice they kept that one concourse and refurbished it. I always liked all the natural light from the big windows. And being that it opened in 1992, still relatively younger than most of the other parts of the airport that were recently replaced.

Hi Pete nice to see your videos again. I'm wondering if you can help me out here ss I'm a bit confused. It is said that LaGuardia has been completed but it doesn't appear like it does in the concept. What ever happened to the plan to connect the 2 terminals? It doesn't seem like their ever going to do that. Also is terminal c actually fully complete?

Thanks for watching! The C terminal is not complete yet and I have no idea if the 2 terminals will ever be connected.

I've been visiting NYC each year since 2019 and they are continuously working on this airport. The Empire State bldg was built & completed in 1 year 45 days.

Building around an active airport that’s much more complex than a skyscraper is no small feat. People bring up empire state without the insane amount of workforce allocated for that project along with the outdated standards that would not be acceptable today.

You should do a before and after renovation terminal tour of MSP when it is completed. That delta hub needed a renovation in the concourses and gates years ago and it is finally in progress.

I flew through the old gates in December (first week). The head unit was blocked off and you had to walk down a long walkway from the 90 gates. The wall was there on the right but the old gates on the left were open. Left through one of those gates and came back through gate 92. So it appears they did half the concourse first and now are doing the other half. The food court in the front is obviously staying because when I went to the airport last month it was closed off for minor renovation which is now completed. So I suspect the food court will stay as it is back from the 1990s with slight updates by Delta for the 60 gates.

I’m all for modernization of airports in this country. Here in the USA, we’re lacking far behind in airport beauty and passenger friendly confidence unlike airports in Europe, the middle east and Asia. Ur the best. Keep up the great work.

Not too long ago, I flew into LGA on JetBlue or American and it was early in the am. I departed on Delta but it was so early there were no terminal busses running, it was snowing, and I was yelled at while I attempted walking. Are we able to walk from JetBlue/American to Delta without taking a cab?

With all of the construction, I don't know if you can walk it, but they probably have a shuttle bus connecting the terminals.

Well Peter what your telling me on KZfaq with the construction with LGA at Terminal C it reminds me of the same way as Plastic Surgery. Peter how much longer is the construction going to be done?

I don’t know. During the pandemic everything was sped up and I do not know the final completion date.

Thanks again Peter! Those gates are still relegated to the DL “commuter” operations, the Embraer’s and the CJ’s. And still a long walk with no moving sidewalks. For the older folks a bit of a walk. 😂 ✈️

@@PeterMasella If there is no moving sidewalk to the food court you showed in the video, there won't be one. It is obvious now for the original part of the airport remaining they are using the existing footprint so unless they widen the walkway to the food court from the front of the terminal, there won't be room for a moving walkway. We will have to see if they gut the interior to the food court from the front of the airport, widen it, and add a walkway when they are done. I don't fly out of LGA as much as I do out of Terminal 4 in JFK because I travel internationally much more than domestically, so I rarely use LGA these days.

@@Buc_Stops_Here I'm thinking, however that they will add a moving walkway in the area where the long temporary connecting tunnel is once they complete the final tunnel.

@@PeterMasella We will see - I have my doubts about that as that is a very round about way to get to gate 60-69 rather than turning left in the head unit, going through security and to the food court to those gates. Guess we find out in about a year or so.

Thanks for the update! Do you think they will also refurbish the outside/exterior of the 60's gates? I personally think it would look bad if the rest of the airport's exterior was futuristic and modern, while this section remained dated looking on the outside...

@@PeterMasellaAmerican corporations generally put profits ahead of those concerns. If it doesn't improve revenue, there is no need to spend that money.

oh interesting - i flew out of gate 68 yesterday and couldn't figure out how this all fit into the plan. If you're in the 60s, be aware it's a schlep from security!

Do you know if they're gonna refurbish the exterior of the concourse that they're keeping? I'm pretty sure they will, but don't know for sure. It would look super awkward if they didn't, because then there would be a really old exterior next to a brand-new one.

The gates in the old terminal D are technically part of terminal C now. I do not have any idea when all of the construction in that area will be completed.

I really hope they eventually build a connection between terminal a and terminal c so if i go there i can walk through both terminals

That won't happen. Terminal A is on the other side of runway 4-22.

Delta customer. Beautiful terminal at LGA but do prefer the old Terminals C and D. At least the Sky Club and gates were not far from each other. Now you have long walks with only one people mover. I don’t find the new Terminal C practical at all.
