This was a concern of mine. In a way, I kind of hate that theaters show trailers for films before the feature film because I feel like I can't help but see trailers when I'm there. They played the trailer for Lamb when I went to see The Green Knight and I had a feeling it gave a lot away.

I always see these artsy movies in a mainstream leaning movie theater. After it finished, someone said “That wasn’t even SCARY.” Despite that I really enjoyed it. It was a quiet parable about how to treat living things. Sometimes movies are just about telling stories.

People often ask "does the dog die?". I also want to know if a baby or young child dies. I really hate that, I think it's a cheap horror movie trick. I want to be thrilled, scared, excited and entertained. Not sick, heartbroken, angry and depressed. There's enough of that in real life, I want to escape and have the fear without the sadness. Rollercoater vs train crash

This one looked SUPER strange from the get-go. Animals being anthropomorphized by humans, and humans turning animalistic in the pursuit of their own fulfillment. Looks like it wants to say something important (Animal Farm-esque) but it might be a bit too ridiculous for it’s own good in some regards. But that’s just guesses based on the trailer. I went into this film completely blind, sold on the fact that "Iceland"... unbelievable Cinema. Firstly, I really really appreciate how you manage to talk about films, especially films as minimal (in a narrative sense) as this one, without giving anything away... Spoilers in the rest of my comment. The fact that the director got such an incredible performance not just from the animals, but even from the stoic elements of nature, the meadows, the lakes, and most of all the topography of the ridge of the glacier, and that one especially jagged rock feature that had a stupa-esque look to it. When Maria lifted Ada from her mother and you first see Ada's human body... it took my breath completely away.

I just saw this this morning. It was either this or "Titane." I liked this movie but it would've worked better as a physiological thriller. I will say initially it creeped me out and that is more effective than your average film with jumpscares. I thought the use of atmosphere and the Icelandic landscape helped build a mood of grief and a foreboding. When it finally settles it forgoes its initial tone but doesn't regain it until the final shot. It was good but I wish there was more of a play on the supernatural elements built on in the beginning. I didn't go WTF afterwards unfortunately. I wish I did.

And it was basically just a man abducting a poor girl and just raising her in some weird cabin justifying it because he's being a weirdo teaching her to like live like its 1700 and her parents dont have time for her because they are busy working instead of being weirdos.

Apparently it's some real film with the same name. It was hard to tell because it was beautifully shot. I was thinking this doesn't look like Iceland. I was thinking after the child was kidnapped the parents would move to Iceland and the mother would start to treat a lamb like her daughter to cope and the husband would be all "this lamb ain't our real daughter. She was kidnapped your crazy". Then hed try to kidnap the lamb. Then the mom would kill the dad. Tldr it was a movie beautifully shot about a weirdo kidnapper who justified himself by giving her things and treating her like his daughter. But he isn't her dad so just no. After an hour I couldn't finish it.

Well i think this movie really workss.... , My theory is, ingvar and maria once lost their child. We didn't know the child was dead or just lost. But if. If the child was just "lost". Well maybe somehow their child grew up in wilderness and having some intercourse with "lamb" and then giving birth to what we saw at the end of the movie, the real father of ada. So it does make sense tho. Why there are lamb - human hybrid.
@RavenHouseMystery
@RavenHouseMystery 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the review, Emma. It sounds like Lamb might be part of the folk horror genre, maybe? Anyway, I'll probably check it out when it hits rental. On a side note, I did see "There's Someone Inside Your House" last night on Netflix and I'd give it a 5/10 score. The slasher premise is good, but like many Netflix films, it seemed more interested in giving a political opinion then telling a good story. It's also pretty easy to guess who the culprit is.

I'm not at all proud to say that I did start nodding off in the theater during Lamb. I had alot of excitement and positive anticipation going in to this one, I usually love and prefer the slow burn drama. But did get the heavy eye lids throughout this movie and unfortunately I finally came to at the absolute worst moment, the climax or reveal I believe. I don't want to completely attribute this to the film, possibly should've had an extra cup of coffee or perhaps already had too many early in the day.

Great movie. Beautiful place to film. Lamb told a story. If your not paying attention you'll get lost. It was showing how you wish for something so bad and get it. And the harsh way you decide to keep it. But karma is a revengeful girl. Just to turn around and get Served what you Deserved. The climax was the twist. Everyone meet Karma. 10/10

Wouldn't say it's a bad movie, but the trailers really mislead people in a certain direction to believe it's a certain type of horror genre film, and it really wasn't. My advice is to avoid the trailer beforehand, and maybe forget any prejudices you may have if you did before going in. It'll just digest better that way.

You love horror (scary bad things happening to human beings?) but animal deaths take you to your limits? I'm not sure that is empath problems, maybe just psychopath problems? P.S. not judging, I think it takes one to know one.

Great thumbnail , couldn’t wait to see what caused that reaction . I love lamb and don’t find it hard to swallow 🤪 . Now this movie , haven’t seen it but your review has me curious .

Just got back from a matinee for this. It was not what I expected, I found it surprisingly sad and heartbreaking. I really loved it though. Glad I took a chance and checked it out!

I liked it….it felt organic…my question is, why wasn’t the parents shocked when they got the lamb? Did they expect it? So many questions

anybody else finds really weird to add a shot about them entering the car? I mean to me its obvious you would have to set the camera and then pretend to enter the car for the first time and have a fake first react, I just don't get why youtubers add those kind of scenes

Saw Lamb and enjoyed it. Very original like you said and it takes big risks. Not my favorite A24 movie and will probably not rewatch anytime soon for a multitude of reasons. One thing anyone can say about the film is that it left an impact. The impact felt will be different for everyone but ultimately that is all you can ask for with a film nowadays

do you know the name of that movie where the man/devil kills ppl and his protege buries them in the lake by cementing their feet in concrete? if you know about the mythical man/animal creature then this movie makes sense. the creature i grew up with is cow foot lady.

I wouldn't call Lamb "scary." The term I would use is "cute."

My cat died this week. I had planned on seeing this movie, but now I’m wondering... would this be bad to see for someone who’s grieving? I don’t fully understand what it’s even about, but the trailer captivated my interest.

Thanks for the video #spookyastronauts, always a pleasure seeing your POV'S. Intrigued from the moment the trailer was out. I was lucky to catch a screener with my sister and did not disappoint. 4/5 for Noomi, the setting and this unusual slow burn yet clever idea that I think A24 could only deliver.
