Hello My Friends! 👋🏽🌹 This is a New Series in which I just Relax and have fun flameworking. There are a lot of pieces that I make in between the 101 and 102 ‘Learning Demos’ and I thought it would be fun to start sharing them with you all! 🤗
Patrick and I just got back from a trip to Colorado to visit my parents and before we left I made this Worry Stone Pendant as a gift for my Mom. She loves to celebrate all of the holidays and one of her favorites is the 4th of July, our Independence Day. 🎊🎉🎊
This is one of those rare and special moments that I will use red, white and blue together in the glass.😅
Hope you are all doing well out there!
Cheers - Robin 👋🏽🌈

@@scottwoodresearch it’s it random how some people absolutely love holidays the some people hate them the others choose just one for example my favourite is All Hallows Eve also know as News Years Eve in the Pagan/Wiccan faith. I can understand why you mom would want to celebrate 4th July the most with it being Independence Day so that being one of her favourite holidays. Say Hi to Patrick for me please and I hope you are doing ok my friend and enjoying your time on the torch. I’m here if you ever need me ❤️ 🌹

Hi Dan! 😃✨ Thanks so much!! 🙏🏽 I’ve been anxious to share some of the things I make in between the learning demos. Usually for each 101 or 102 demo I have made at least 5 to 10 beads just to get the best one for each video. It’s nice to be able to just chill out and enjoy the process without putting pressure on myself (which is very counterproductive for me) 😅 …Glad you are excited about this new series! 🤗🌹✨ Hope you are doing well my friend!🌈✨✨Cheers- Robin👋🏽🌹

Hi Robin, it's nice to hear you're making 5-10 beads for a demo. I make 2 or 3 and wonder how you make it look so easy! Next time remember your 5-10 beads, and put that on the menu for learning a technique 😊@@scottwoodresearch

@offtheplinth Hey Dan! 👋🏽🌹 lol! I love repetition…and you know how important that is when learning anything…especially the molten glass. And ever since we started this channel, my practice time is very limited. Trying to get a demo done weekly has been challenging at times…and it has started to make me cranky 😂 But honestly…I’m just happy to know that you are all enjoying, learning and sharing how amazing and magical the glass can be….and frustrating!😂🙏🏽 🌈 Cheers - Robin ✨✨

@@scottwoodresearch Hi Robin, it’s easy to imagine how much pressure maintaining a weekly video must be. Keep it fun for you, that’s the important part. You’ve created loads of back catalogue for anyone who’s got to see something new. I’ve got to admit as much as I love seeing your weekly updates, there’s plenty of times when I haven’t practiced the technique, so there’s really loads to keep your fans happy 😊 Another idea is if you get onto a good flow one week, you could keep going and try filming a few, then you’ve only got the joy of editing them rather than filming every time. Another tip would be simple stuff. It’s actually great to see you working with the basics, and doing straight forward things, for example I’ve watched your ‘putting bead release on mandrels’ a few times!?! Anyway I’m sure you’ve thought of these things before. Have a great week. Dan 😁

@offtheplinth Hi Dan! 👋🏽🌹 I’m so thankful for your kind words of encouragement and support! It means a lot to me!🤗. There have been times where I’ve struggled to come up with something new and achievable with the glass every week for these demos. But now, I feel like there are so many demos here that I can finally focus just on what makes me happy in the moment…. And usually, that is when I have the most fun and make the best work no matter how simple or complex it may be. 😅✨ Also , I have some super exciting news to share with you all soon!! Have a wonderful week ahead! Thanks again, Dan! Cheers - Robin 🌹🌈

Wowzer again- great to watch. How special it is to make for your mom. Amazed at a 24 hour drive - what state do you and your husband live ? I live in Florida, born raised here most of my whole life. Thank you again and yes hope you just make what ever you want to create. No fun to feel pressure to come up with big ideas. Anything glass melting is a bonus - enjoy the weekend 🇺🇸

Hi Maria! 👋🏽🌹 Thanks so much! I was a tad nervous about this new series because I have already shared the basic technique in the 101/2 playlists… so I am glad that you and Vicky appreciate and approve!😂✨✨ We drove from Toledo, Ohio to the Black Hills just a bit north of Colorado Springs. It was a great time and we are hoping to make it a yearly trip! (I am originally from Texas and my parents moved to Colorado about 25+ years ago) I love Ohio…It is beautiful and has all of the Seasons!! I did visit Florida years ago for a glass conference…went to the Salvador Dali museum! Amazing!!! 🌈🌹 Great to hear from you! Cheers - Robin👋🏽✨✨

Oh the Dali museum is in St. Petersburg Fl. I used to live there from 1982-93. During those years I was very much a potter, throwing on the wheel. Over 10 years. I just loved clay, I painted on the glazes and enjoyed selling as well. What a great town. It has grown so with glass artists. Really many forms of art. I live just one hour south now in Venice ( 5 minutes from the Gulf. Ocean being my first love) thank you for sharing places you have lived , do live and places traveled to - I so so enjoy watching your videos- to many more ❤

@mariacohen5179 That’s so awesome! ✨🌹 I love hearing that you made pottery….i love clay!! 🤗 I am glad there is a good community of artists there! Florida is beautiful! Omg- You are close to the Big Water!! …That’s so cool! The weather must get pretty intense though! I have only visited Florida that one time….but I’m curious about the alligators…do they like unexpectedly show up in the neighborhoods all the time? 😂 that would freak me out!! 😅 UOr is it like… When I was a kid living in Texas (27 years there), my cousins that lived in Colorado thought we road our horses to school! 😆😂 I think they were let down when we told them we drove cars like everyone else! 👋🏽✨✨🌹 It is fascinating how people have these preconceived notions about certain States. lol!! -R🌹

Hi Robin, the last time you made your ‘off-mandrel’ worry stones it inspired me to make some too! I make them on the mandrel so I can thread cord through the middle. I’ve also been using a ridged marver for the other side as these are useful for the ‘ serious’ fiddlers. I can’t make them quick enough for the shows I’m going to. Many thanks for the inspiration ❤

So happy you enjoyed and are inspired!! …that just makes my day! 🌈🌹🌹 Thanks so much for sharing!!! ✨🌹✨ Hugs and Cheers my friend - Robin 👋🏽🌹

I’ve been talking to a lot of carers who work with neuro-divergent people and also people who care for patients with dementia. The pendants are great for general anxiety (with the spoon print) but to add an extra texture on the other side helps to centre them to nudge them out of a spiral. I’ve also been putting them as keyrings as having something around their neck is too much of the wrong sensory stimulation. It’s such a lovely feeling being able to make something that seems to help so much. Thanks again for the wonderful inspiration xx

Hi Robin! Quick question. I have my torch in the garage and want to move it inside the house. Do you vent your torch and if so, how? Thank you!
@scottwoodresearch
@scottwoodresearch 2 ай бұрын
Hi Precious! 👋🏽🌹 Ventilation is important! …but…I must say that our house was built in 1907 and it is drafty! In the basement there are windows all around. I sit about 4 feet from a window that I open and have a fan blowing out. It is not high-tech, but it works fine for a me. However…If I had no windows or more torches I would definitely have to have a ventilation system installed. ✨✨ I feel like this was not very helpful information 🙁 …. But I’m sure most flameworkers have some kind of ventilation system. And there is good information out there about it.., perhaps google lampworking easy ventilation system? I hope that helps!🌹✨✨Cheers- Robin 🌈👋🏽

@@scottwoodresearch Actually, that was incredably helpful. I have a window in that room, and I found a Vornado Transom fan that will pull more cubic feet of air per minute out of the room on "low" than there is cubic feet of air in the room. (at least that is what it claims) Regardless, it should pull enough air out the window to keep me safe. Thank you for getting back with me and letting me know that doing that works for you and my idea for the fan in the window was a good idea!! PS. I LOVE your Victorian Icicles and I purchased the exact same glass to try my own. I am not very good yet and want to be much better before I use that expensive glass, but it is there just waiting for my skill level to reach a point that I am willing to try them. If mine come out half as beautiful as yours I would be so pleased. Thank you for that tutorial. I will let you know how it goes if I ever get up the nerve to try them. 😁

@winterwhitechocolate Hi Precious! ✨🌹 I’m sooo glad that was helpful! The fan you chose sounds like the perfect fit for your studio. I’m so happy you have been enjoying the demos….and that you have the scalloped tubing for icicles! The hardest part for me is getting the first points pulled from the center of the tube. I wish I had longer arms! 😂✨ When you decide to practice with it, know that you will go through a lot of glass! But that is what we do….I never consider it wasted glass as we have to practice with something! Patrick uses my scrap pieces to make his icicles (he did put out a demo on it). …they look pretty great for someone who doesn’t practice glass often!🌹✨ So excited for you!! Thanks for sharing!!🌹✨😃 Cheers- Robin 👋🏽✨
