Lana the Lancer has been a trusty companion for the last 3 years, but it's time for her to let her hair down. In this first episode of our new build series, Ben gets to wrenching on the Evo and begins to ready her for the track.

I like a tuner that is more concerned with how it runs more than hitting a specific number.

maxxjett films fucking truth. And drivability, you don't want a car that makes 1000hp but stalls out at anything under 2k rpm.

Unco Casey yes, the tuner who tuned my car was all about driveabilty and running well in all circumstances. He has told others in the past to get someone else to tune if they only wanted a high number. That's why i chose him over others.

Exactly. It's so easy to just achieve a number for bragging purposes, but usability was my main concern. Jermaine nailed it.

Howard is a legitimate fan, Jermaine a legitimate tuner. Your calipers look great too. I luckily had mine re-done due to the crappy faded red lol This was such an awesome video. If you guys ever travel to Virginia beach, it would be an honor to meet you guys! Cheers!

Now you're seriously having me look into protuning my WRX and taking it to the next level. I really want to see just how smooth a protuned car feels vs an OTS map. This 21 minute video felt like it went by in 5. That's how zoned in I was to this awesome content you guys consistently put out. Felt like I was working on the build right along side you. Can't wait for the next part of this series.

Definitely research your tuner options before you jump into anything, but I'm a huge fan of protunes. If you're in the NOVA area, can't recommend Jermaine and TurboXS enough.

Good stuff. Fellow evo 9 owner here. You look like a tallish guy, I recommend getting the binary seat brackets. They are a cheap and easy mod that will make a world of difference for the driving position. 👍🏻 Also grimspeed has a brake cylinder brace that will help the natural squish in the pedal. It makes a bigger difference than stainless lines or pads...highly recommend it as the feel of the brembos from factory leaves more to be desired, especially when you compare them to a European Car. Keep the videos coming!

I just installed the binary seat brackets as well. I'm 6'3" so having a lower seat position made a world of difference The driving experience totally changed.

Congrats on the great tune:) The EVO9 MR looks amazing with the blue Brembo brakes and JDM rear bumper !!! Currently I have 2017 Frozen White Focus RS and I agree the blue brakes contrast great on white car and rear valance makes rear end look more aggressive.

I'm amazed.. I love race cars myself but I salute you for fixing some parts all by yourself.. I've always wanted an EVO and I think I'll buy one rather than the new Honda civic Type R.. It's nice for you knowing someone like Howard who has almost everything for EVOs. And of course a great tuner like Jermaine.. Great video!

I just recently stumbled into your channel within the last 2 months and I love the quality of your videos and that you have a very humble approach. We all want to make progress, so I'm happy for you! Keep pumping out really cool content. I have an idea for a video➡ why is there so much hate in the car scene and yet so much love between bikers? My brother asked me once and I had no real answer. Seems like most bikers give each other the peace sign and lots of car enthusiasts are not so nice 😂

Had a 2006 Evo IX MR, also in Wicked White. Really loved that car, and sometimes regret that I sold her. Had her for 6 years though, and only had a little over 13 thousand miles on her, so I really wasn't driving her much. Still get the itch to drive her again from time to time though. 🙂 By the way, I believe it was found that the Evo IXs were underrated from the factory, so I'm not really surprised you made the power you did right from the get go.
