In this chilling rare interview from 1999, Lance Armstrong talks about beating cancer, winning his first Tour and those early drug rumors. Armstrong had just won his first Tour de France which, along with his 6 other race victories, were stripped away from him in 2012.

The funny thing is, he's not a very good liar. He never was. He is utterly unconvincing at the end of this video. People believed what they wanted to believe, even though his performances AND his behaviour indicated that he was lying. The story was too good.

In another interview he said, that the doping agency and the law is dangerous for a doping cyclist in france. And here he says that he doesnt want to be their story... If you put both things together you know exactly what he thought when telling them about his house in france.

He failed 4 drug tests in 1999 and the Tour and UCI looked the other way. Why is this not investigated? Cheers

Because some people agree with you, doping will probably be a part of sports for a while still. He did get to Paris in the shortest time, but he can't say he did it as a professional cyclist, because he didn't follow the rules, he might as well have used a motorcycle.

Why would he be worried about the french cracking down on drug cheats if he was clean? Oh... Because he wasn't.

Considering what he went through with his illness and the fact that doping was rife when he came to Europe, he is for me the greatest rider ever and deserves all of his tdf wins back just like all the others who doped and won. His crime seems to be he won it too often for some peoples liking. What did he do wrong that others weren’t doing then?

@@manusiaganteng2753 For which he has been rightly vilified and he himself has admitted he was totally out of line for what he did to some people, but that was all off the bike. I'm trying to separate what he did on it and off it.

4:50 Think about it: he admits he loves France, bought a house there, etc. But may leave because Le Monde prints "lies" about him? This is an obvious giveaway that they aren't lies. Otherwise why would he even think about running from the charges?

I say he still a seven time champion. he just beat them at their own game. How many can say they finished first doping or not.
