If obtaining a certification to land a job is the ONLY reason to pass, probably not the best intentions of doing the job to the best of your abilities.

Agree that for the 1-st job it is not mandatory. But I think here the employers should change the way they treat the certs. In my opinion, the certs are just showing that the person has a THEORETICAL ability to understand what is going on in the Salesforce platform for each cert. Not sure who should take this responsibility to teach employers about it (probably the Vendor at some marketing strategies), but after the majority of them understand that = then more real-world experience individuals will have the luck to find a new (first) job ;) Just my 2 cents.

Question- working on my Admin Cert on the side (full-time prospect researcher) there's no room for advancement in my company and I'm intensely interested in Salesforce! Do you think being about 55% through the trailhead training for Admin Certification is enough to START with a different company in an entry level Admin position and finish my certification with them?
@SalesforceForEveryone
@SalesforceForEveryone 3 жыл бұрын
I would say that's definitely jumping the gun, you really don't want to be applying for jobs until you are a certified as you don't want potential employers immediately discrediting you because of a lack of having shown that dedication by getting one certification. You also want to make sure that your LinkedIn profile is on point and showcasing your value or recruiters and hiring managers may never give you a second glance. Certifications have to be up kept, each year you will have to take an upkeep exam to maintain a certification. If you were working at an employer a few years ago and got certified but have not maintained it it would have expired by now anyway. A lot has changed from the last few years also though, so it's really in your best interest to get up to date on the most current functionality.

Just look around, revenue growth through the roof. Constant acquisitions and new revenue lines. Massive opportunity for careers with 100s of thousands of new jobs every year. Honestly I've seen no correlation between success in a SF career and a college degree at all. Maybe an MBA in computer science. HR could help if you want a future in HR but that's not really SF.
