I recently purchased the Laney LX65R and I am a very pleased customer. This episode is long but more detailed than any other demo of this amp on KZfaq.

I just did a follow up on this unboxing vid, including a clean and distortion demo. I feel it is a better demo since I am more familiar with the amp now. Thanks for watching!

oh damn that glassy trebley sound you get is so good. maybe more on the "Solid state" side(though a lot of single ended & Class A tube amps sound that way too) but I love that, great for shoegaze , alt/goth rock

Holy shit that thing is loud and clean! Man I shouldn't have sold my old LG35R back then. I loved that amp.

I go out to a lot of shows in Slovenia and I RARELY see halfstack amps anymore. I miss my Marshall but Laney gives a lot of bang for the buck and the line out makes it VERY gig worthy. I would never sell it!

Was surprised at the tone coming from this? A Good budget Doom amp maybe? Some classic Doom tones were done on SS anyway(RGs, Sunn Beta Lead), plus the added Laney Sabbath flair.

Good video - would you say this amp would easily be loud enough for bar/club, small room gigs, without being mic’d up ? Cheers from Birmingham U.K

Absolutely, this amp does its job very well on stage. At 65 watts it does hold its own. I however recommend that you also run the speaker output if you have ANY kind of cab available. I run mine with a 2x10 cab and I have been too loud at times according to the drummer. Hope this info helps.

Hey Guys, hope this was helpful. I've experimented a lot with this amp since I have bought it and it is extremely versatile!

Laney solid state amps are underrated, my friend.

What cable should i use to connect to a PA system? Trs to xlr cable?
@Aaronek52 жыл бұрын
That's an interesting question. You will have to use a "speaker" grade cable so you don't damage any equipment. I'm going to caution you on trying this. I'm still using this amp religiously and I use either a 4x10 Peavy cab or a 2x10 Ampeg cab. If you try to run the speaker out into an uncontrolled load input you can cause major damage to both devices. Your alternative is to just run a speaker cable direct into the PA speaker and avoid the mixer all together, but I'm assuming you want to run the Laney into the entire PA system. My advice is just mic the Laney into the PA, this is your safest option. Thanks for the comment!

It's loud enough to use in small places with a drum?

Check out my latest video from a concert I played. I used the Laney with no effects and no extension cab. The sound tech put a mic in front of all of our amps but you can hear the Laney no problem.

Good comment my friend. I still use this amp years after making this video. I've made other comments already about using it with a 4x10 bass cab and it puts the 7 string in a better baritone range rather than using only the combo with a 1x12 by itself. I played a show last weekend with only the laney and my pedal board. I use a darkglass preamp and I was miced to FOH but there were too many mids, no matter how much I tried to fix it live on stage. My favorite speaker set up that I've used is the laney 1x12 with a 2x10 and mic both the 10" and 12" Then you can mix the 12" for trebble/high mids and the 10" for low mids/bass. To sum this up: For a low priced amp, it is plenty loud enough and reliable to use on stage if you mic it up to FOH.
