I want a 3rd rock reunion. I remember watching it as a family when I was 9 or 10. I didn't know her work before on SNL but I loved the chemistry between Jane and John on camera. Next year is the 25th anniversary of the debut and most of the cast is still around.

@Winfield Scott I've actually seen "World according to Garp" when I was eventually mature enough for the content and really liked it. Pre-youtube old SNL were very hard to find unless you caught them on a rerun which they would not typically show a 25 year old episode. The under 35 people likely knows Jane from 3rd Rock if they watched the show.

I can still remember seeing SNL when it premiered. Michael Donahue (sp?) was teaching foreign man John Belushi to speak English. "The wolverines...." "De wolferiins...", "Are eating....", "Ah eati'n'", "My finertips....." etc. Until the heart attack. That still has to be the oddest cold open ever. Completely unexpected because we'd no idea what to expect. I mean a late show on Saturday nite? Who's insane idea was this???

No. On the original SNL lineup the only Canadian was Dan Ackroyd. Gilda Radner lived in Canada a lot, even some of the time she was growing up (in Fort Erie, Ontario), and she broke into show business in Toronto in a legendary production of Godspell that also featured Eugene Levy, Victor Garber, Dave Thomas, Andrea Martin, Jayne Eastwood, and Martin Short, with music director Paul Schaefer (who ran the SNL band, too). Gilda and Dan were in the Toronto Second City Company before they joined the Not Ready For Prime Time Players.

@@makiburgess5733 That was very nice and informative Maki. Thanks for taking the time. I just think Canadians are a very friendly group of folks and that the world would be a better place if we followed their example. I know they are people just like the rest of us with problems and faults, but they seem, as a society, to be more advanced in that way. So, after your pleasant post, I have to ask: Are you Canadian? Take care and be safe.

G Man Yes. I live in Guelph, but I grew up in Toronto. I enthusiastically watched the early seasons of SNL and was also a huge SCTV fan. In my role as former president and sometime m.c. at the Guelph Jazz Festival, I had the pleasure of welcoming many Americans to our city, both musicians and audience members, and found them to be every bit as nice as my neighbours. I mentioned this to Rob Mazurek from the Chicago Underground Duo (partly in amazement at the tenor of U.S. public discourse) and he thought that by coming to our festival, those visitors were self-selecting, and may misrepresent the average American. I wish all of you the best as you deal with coronavirus and Trumpism.

@@makiburgess5733 Hi Maki, I might have guessed, and I did! We must be around the same age because I also loved SLN from the beginning. I remember how weird and new and magnetic that show was. Still good after all these years. I have an uncle who has been in Kingston Ontario since the Vietnam War (Yep) and my wife and I had a long visit a few years ago on an extended road trip across the continent we share. Kingston was perhaps the most scenic town we saw on that three month trip, and we loved the folks we met up your way. One nice fellow even offered to open up his restaurant on an off day to serve us his version of Poutine, which he claimed was the best you could get west of Montreal. Anyway, nice chatting with you and I hope you and the world realize that the majority of Americans think trump is a clown and a disgrace. I hope this last four years gets the most lazy among us out in November to throw him and his type out of office. Meanwhile, you all should really be working on a wall. Smiles, G Man

I think they could potentially have a small comeback like Will and Grace. Joseph (Tommy) has a production company. Kristen ( Sally) is on the MOM and so is French Stewart (Harry). John ( Dick) is in broadway/ movies/ publishing books. I like the idea. I think they would need to get paid enough.

So that’s how pre-presidential Tantrump used to do it. Eric would scout young ‘chicks’ and ask them if they’d like to see an orangutan. He’d open the van, suddenly, a hand comes out of the darkness, vagina-bound, as a voice calls out, “I’m gonna make you great again!”
