I mean, why would you want LIVING populations? Now, to call them undead might not be 100% accurate, but come on.. they reanimate the dead and convert them into more of themselves, that's pretty metal!
Also, undead fish things best things.

@@somberflight The Europeans are definitely responsible for that situation because they decided local borders without any regard for the actual established borders and territories the people had before being taken over, which would lead to unrest that's still happening to this day. Over disputes the Europeans caused. If anything, Africans know how to govern Africa. Out of touch european imperialists however, significantly worse at governing Africa. Essentially all they did was show up, declare themselves authorities, and sap africa of it's resources while similtaneously making a huge mess then pulling out when they couldn't make a profit anymore, leaving the locals to pick up the pieces.

As I just replied to someone else (yay lazy copy and paste! ^^): " The jobs were reduced there (My fault for doing this in such a weird order!) but that was because I was messing around with their max levels over and over before that clip, even later in worlds with more pops and the same job the issue persisted. But yeah, forgot to reset for that clip making those tests pointless, derp on my part! But why would I lower or mess with entertain job numbers after building that building specifically outside of for testing? Double checked just now, had Sol with LOTS of available indentured servitude pops but non would take the job even when prioritized, leaving the jobs open, unlike in the clip." So yeah that clip was silly, but the issue does persist even when the job is truly available, indentured servitude pops just won't take it, even when they are unemployed and the job is prioritized. The clip was silly, but my point 100% does persist! ...I blame being so exhausted for something so silly on my part!

@@Lathland I believe that indentured servitude by design prevents pops from being entertainers, as in it's a set limitation of the slavery type. They also cannot be enforcers or duelists I think, so you still do want some battle thralls/domestic servants for that. It should be in the tooltip, unless I'm imagining things.

As the name suggest it adds completely new playstyles, like being able to breed space dragon to serve as your fleet, or beeing tiyanki herders it adds mainly civics and origins but i think you're going to love it.

25:00 yes. Yes, Authoritarian Necrophages are fantastic for aggressive warfare and production. And blowing through the tradition tree, even when not spiritualist is easy. I'm playing Fanatic Authoritarian/Militarist. My galaxy was *much* nastier than Lath's. (2 Purifiers and a Determined Exterminator, for starters). But it's still been fun. The only things to watch out for are Empire Sprawl and managing Consumer Good output as a Memorialist. Because both necrophytes and Chroniclers gorge on CGs. 38:00 Yes. How I MIGHT have done undead armies to make them better in their own right... is probably that as long as you win your engagement, you get back ALL your undead soldiers. Something along those lines... Something to make them worth that civic. Heck there are tons of ideas you can go with (for example maybe they are immune to the effect of bombardment, maybe they are free defensive armies you get for just having necro pops making your own planets difficult to defeat, Maybe the building you make them at gives far more amazing bonuses and can upgrade, maybe the civic ALSO unlocks a undead slave type race you can "clone"). . The issue is that there are just so many ways to get soldiers AS good (if not better) than the undead army that don't require you to use up a civic point... and it isn't like having an amazing army was something difficult to pull off (Honestly, you can do the entire game using just base soldiers). The only plus is that they laugh at psionic warriors, but then again I believe machine armies do too.

its not unique to purifiers, its just a unique purging type from the necrophage origin if your empire is allowed to perform purges (ex. xenophobe) you can necrophage them all via purging, and you also get the building just in case you want to keep "some" slaves around

as a necrophage i prefer to be 1 point less materialist as to be able to put 1 point in xenophobe so that i can quickly assimilate trougth the necroid purge (specialy at early on before etablishing contact with other empire so that they aren't aware of my infamy, usualy the 2 primitive world as garante habitable world + 1 civilisation i encounter, then after that as purging would have to negative impact on relation, you might try to shift you governement more toward autoritarian or materialist depending on preference As a slaver/memorialist: i make my necrophage race intelligent and charismatic (and unruly, sedentary, traditional) slavery type servant, living standard academic privilege, that way, as administrator they'll produce extra amenities, well be well suited to do research as specialist (and the memorialist), and can use a part of the enslaved one to supplies the the rest of the amenities without using the building slot, and not much housing either, + 20% happiness from double amenities is easily attained, which make it reasonable to attain 100 stability with the memorialist for the +30%. Also as you point out later, the necrophage -10% on worker which apply to enslaved necro from the slaver don't apply on amenities, (otherwise the -10% is still not much in comparaison to all the bonus slave have) for the prepatent, with some unruly, repugnant, rapid breeder, v.strong, communal, at the start as don't have enought of them vs the number of necros, specialy after purging the 2 primitives world + 1 civ, they mostly only do the primary ressources district job, so i use chattel slavery. But later as i get robot to do those job and as the portion of my population being pre patent increase, i switch them to indentured so that can super artisan/metalurgist/refiner with them. When turning them into indentured, i usualy switch them to social welfare to minimise impact on approval from a concentration of them into a artisan or a metalurgist eucomopolis from their 0,75 political power. To min-max it, you try to uplift and genemodifie a presapient specificly for your specialist ecumenopolis idealy as close as conservative v.strong, communal. The uplifting +10% happiness, and +5% for conservative, make it easier to keep approval high on a indentured heavy ecum, and if you a specific indentured for ecum you can put those on social welfare, and keep the other world indentured to a cheaper standart of living if needed. *** i tend to overthink thing ***

Going to say right now that I'd rather see the Necrophage done properly before the Death Cult. You're basically a society of vampires based on the origin blurb (without the usual "sustenance" issues of course). Based on the Necrophyte ascension mechanic, this would be an empire that really wants to colonize and load up worlds to fuel the conversion rate. The primary species would just explode once you started making habitats.

I feel like the undead armies civic should've been baked into both the Death Cult civic and Necrophage origin, you're spending an entire civic slot for just a barely stronger army. If they made it so that the Dread Encampment provided other effects, resources, or bonus' then sure, but as it currently stands I don't see a unique (only allowed 1 per planet) building that only provides about half the research as a tier 1 research building and some more defensive armies as being worth it. You'd have to pick it for Roleplay entirely IMO, it just does not impact gameplay enough to compare to other civic choices.

Oof... I saw it as a good stronghold replacement for like chokepoints... but if its really only 1/planet... that's kind of a waste of a civic

Undead Armies may suck but the Dread Encampments are pretty good. Research + Naval Capacity is nice.

I've enjoyed Necroid necrophage so far. With xenophobic ethic I was able to expand very fast although none of my neighbors liked me. This is both good and bad. The origin is very high maintenance and you sometimes have to make the call whether to use your fleets to attack during a war or abduct pops which can be a tricky balance. I found out the hard way that culture shock really a big pain in the rear. I figured..... Meh. The primitive planet only has three pops left. May as well take the planet now. Those stupid 3 pops were in culture shock forever and even caused a slave revolt. Nothing I couldn't handle militarily but it was an administrative pain in rear.

Every game I have started as Necroid, I would always end up surrounded by either advanced militaristic authoritarian empires that start to hate me and declare war or some other civic but still instant harm relations and war
