Was raised in the lds church and went inactive in college. I have had this hole in my life but refused to return to church bc of pride anti Mormon literature and other things. Your videos and experiences trying these churches and feeling the unique spirit of the lds church as an outsider flooded me with happy memories I had in it growing up. A quote came to my mind that I haven’t been able to shake since then. “By their fruits ye shall know them.” At that moment I knew the lds church was a true church of God and I dedicated myself to return and ever since I have never felt closer to God and happier. Thank you for sharing your journey bc you are also guiding others on theirs in a powerful way

My wife and I had the privilege of visiting the Temple Lot in October 2010 and meeting an Elder Sheldon who was wheelchair bound and recently widowed. He preached a sermon to us while we respectfully listened. We exchanged emails and upon returning to Utah discovered he was a distant cousin. Strange world! I feel it is time for the Restoration family to come back together and help prepare for the Saviors return. We are stronger together than being divided. David Boice and Steven Pynaker are helping show the way.

Loved this one so much! Some Evangelical Christians call Latter Day Saints cousins, and we as Latter Day Saints have cousin churches, and certainly Catholics and Protestants have cousins, but we are ALL one body in Christ when born again. Today in the LDS ward I was visiting, as we started to sing the opening hymn based on the restoration,, I had a profound vision of Jesus as the Good Sheppard. I was seeing him face His flock of sheep from the top of a small hill. I could see the tops of sheep as if I was at the level of the sheep and we were making our way up the hill. I knew the Sheppard was Jesus and He wanted me to “Follow Him” and all of us sheep wanted to be with Him. I had some very deep connections with the hymn lyrics today that I haven’t had in years. The Lord is reawakening me and I am grateful to learn how He works among many who call on His holy name to do His mighty work in preparation of His return.

I feel like one day, all restored church will join together. For sure, not only us, but all followers of Christ, so we all become one church, with one Lord, and one baptism again.

I appreciate this podcast so much. My great, great grandfather- Adna Coleman Haldeman was the second apostle at the creation of the Hedrakites . It took place in Adna’s barn. Later he moved his family and business to Independence, Mo. A member of his wife’s family was sent on a mission to the Mormons of Salt Lake City to try to straighten them out. Funny thing, though, he ended up staying in Utah and converting to the LDS Church and became a devout member for the rest of his life. He is buried in Provo, Utah with his family.

Thank you so much. You are able to do the travelling I will never do but it is good to learn. I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all my life but also had a point where I was converted. You are very honest and that is very much appreciated.

As a somewhat Recent Convert myself..I would probably feel Way to Uncomfortable goung to any other church except The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I respect them and there beliefs, we are all Christians..the differences are just to great for me to overlook

I have yet to watch the vid but I will. I do know God loves all his children and I know His will and plan is to restore all that is lost. That will definitely include the separated and various restoration branches that know the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. You David can be a servant that helps to unite all those God loves dearly under the one true God of heaven.

Thank you, was so happy for you when you chose to be baptized and include your membership in the Lord's Church. You have mentioned dress code as you have visited various churches. When I was a boy in the late 1930s, we lived in a log house as my father was building a new home. We lived on a homestead as did many of early saints in Utah. I had one pair of overalls that were washed once a week over a fire and in a washtub. Sometimes they had to be mended and that was what I wore to Sunday School and Sacrament Meeting, Mother said, we were to wear the best we had for the Lord. And so we did, if the clothes were clean and mended. As with the Temples of our Lord nothing is to good and only the best is used in construction of God's Holly House, the Temple. As you have observed I believe. The Prophet, Apostles', Bishops and all General authorities of the church weare Suits, white shirts and ties when ever they are are associated with duty and their callings. They are our examples before the Lord. I wish that all our priesthood brethren would follow their examples, I know it would please the Lord. Keep smiling,

22:41 It sounds like you have talked to your bishop of your ward about priesthood blessings. When i was on my mission typical timeline was getting the Aaronic priesthood in a week or two after being baptized and confirmed and then in a few months get the Melchizedek priesthood and you can consecrate olive oil and give blessings as well.

17:35 to my understanding, the Book of Mormon was initially published more like a novel (no verses). When The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints embarked on separating it out into verses it was also decided to add more chapter devisions. So it is all the same text but the smaller restoration branches versions chapters are more consistent (in general) with the original printing.

I am what you may call " country Locked" basically I don't have a passport and due to economics probably won't end up with one any time soon. I appreciate beyond words for your commitment to view and share church history sites especially and the insights into many other faiths. Today's video reminds me of some " second coming" literature that states that there will be people of many faiths still on the earth when Christ comes again because they are those who are living a terrestrial standard of life. There's a channel called Christian Homestead that does a really good dive into this and other doctrinal topics that I quite enjoy if you have the time you might find it interesting.

My wife and I went to Independence about 10 years ago. W did visit the visitors center and saw the Church of Christ's "temple" but I don't remember visiting the Temple lot. We will do that the next time we are there.

I grew up RLDS (CoC), but I am no longer affiliated. I have always been curious about the Temple Lot, yet I have never visited despite living nearby for over a year now. In the past couple years I have felt led to rediscover the Restoration on my own, and I truly thought that this prompting would eventually lead me to one of the churches. But lately I’ve concluded that I cannot join any of them until there is unity among the factions. That would be quite a task - one only Christ could bring about. Each one holds so tightly to their differences, and I suppose so do I. Would sure love to speak with you one day about your experiences… you are right that there is something special about all the restoration churches.

I visited temple lot and a few other historical sites last year on my way to The Parliament of World Religions in Chicago. I might be able to swing through again in a few weeks and will have to check out the Church of Christ. I found the energy at Far West particularly interesting, more so than at the corner stone in Zion.

I've read that the great temple of the New Jerusalem will be circular in shape and arched over the middle.

So a quick thing about the chapter and versification differences between the LDS edition and the Midwestern editions of the Book of Mormon: E. G Grandin printed the first edition of the Book of Mormon for Joseph Smith Jr in 1830. While doing so he broke the book into chapters and gave it punctuation. Joseph revised the punctuation a few times in his lifetime but kept the chapter breaks. After his martyrdom in 1844 the great schism occurred and the church splintered. The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the largest church in the Midwest began printing their own version of the Book of Mormon and kept E. B Grandin's versifcation, however when the LDS church began printing their version in Utah, Orson Pratt altered the chapter breaks at the turn of the last century.

I visited the Community of Christ Temple and the LDS visitor center today. I wanted to visit the Church of Christ Temple Lot visitor center. I went up to the door but they were closed and the number online is disconnected. When I’m down visiting family again from NY I might try to attend a service.

This is a great video and I appreciate your kindness toward these other groups. I just wish the protestants etc and world leaders improve upon the in incorporation of the book of mormon. there is more goodness to be had by combining with the restoration at least with the book of Mormon. They might be able to produce the good fruit that the Bible claims if they would read and apply the principles in the book of Mormon.

That was so interesting, thank you. That's cool that you've decided to do another round again, don't feel like you have to cram it in for the sake of the channel, yes take your time! You can always talk about what's like for every member to be a minister and to have a calling. The reason the people in Jackson County were no longer a threat was because that area had been cleared out during the civil war--Independence had a battle take place there, and Jackson County had so many confederate sympathizers that the Union cleaned out the county as well (as you can imagine for us latter-day saints we saw it as a justice/mercy from God). To be honest, as someone from the largest latter-day saint denomination, we were extremely poor when that court case between the hendrickites and the RLDS was going on, especially with all the migrations west we were trying to help fund. So I don't think we were involved in the court case just to "be nice" or purely out of sympathy (although the RLDS did win the Kirtland Temple because they were considered Joseph Smith's true descendents by the government--I don't think we hated them). I think we felt at that we had a duty to sacrifice for obtaining the land. So this is where the whole polygamy thing came in. In the case I believe we were able to convince the government that Joseph Smith practiced it because witnesses came forward saying that he did--and that completely reversed the court's decision--splitting the land in Independence between the churches. Joseph Smith was willing to be sealed (connected to) people--but a sealing isn't necessarily a intimate thing (people can be sealed to parents, children, and back then friends--but no one then or today believed it was supposed to lead to anything unless a marriage also took place)--so people saying oh he was gay or a pedo or had a harem aren't being honest if they think about it. He had the option to take on other wives, maybe because his wife kept having babies die in birth (a belief began to develop that it was okay for some reasons after Joseph Smith translated scriptures in Genesis--but boundaries began to develop to prevent lusty stuff that happened in the Book of Mormon, lots of rules began to develop including the curious phrasing "plural marriage" to distinguish it--it was more like a natural fertility program), but he and Emma declined. However our denomination maintains that he was commanded to at least marry a few adult women he was sealed to and spend at least one night with each of them individually and didn't know why (no babies ever came from them), and divorced at Emma's request--some denominations say it never happened due to Emma's insistence that nothing took place, we say she was too traumatized to talk about it and it was more comforting to deny it especially since she had been through a ton. Everything began to make sense once this court case happened, and of course the splits in general happened over polygamy preventing any denomination from monopolizing things in the short term, then of course there's Otto Fetting's breakoff, and the Elijah Message church is now even bigger than the Church of Christ--without that the Hendrickites would be a much more powerful group. The Lord works in REALLY mysterious ways.

I’m enjoying the history you are diving into. These are things I’ve wanted to learn, so much church history we don’t read. I’ve been away brothers and sisters yet the talk of Alma reminds me always of the sons of Mosiah. (And they were the vilest of sinnners). I can’t help to think that I’m beyond forgiveness. When you are in Independence, please visit one of the traditional Community of Christ congregations such as the New Hope Congregation or the Parkview Congregation in Blue Springs. Some continue to use the traditional and legal name, the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They offer a more historical view of the church's teaching. This exemplifies the church's principles of faithful disagreement, which can be found on the denominational website. There is also a First People Native American ministry that has an active online presence, as well as an in-person group that meets in Independence. I'm sure that your viewers would appreciate a diverse report on the various traditional congregations and groups of Community of Christ.

Very interesting! Is this the same Church of Christ all over the US? My Grandmothers family went to the Church of Christ in Granbury, Texas and I never considered any connection to splinter groups of the LDS church. This was very interesting! Thank you!

This area is where I grew up and now live. I have a lot of great contacts regarding church history sites (including some that are not yet marked) and church history. If you are interested in restoration churches in Missouri (regardless of their sect), then you should reach out to the Missouri Mormon Frontier Foundation. P.S. What's the difference between the gold and blue videos? I thought that blue was going to deal with the church you were baptised in and gold the ones you were not--or is it just a new color for the new 52 churches set, or any that were latter-day saint affiliated from now on? As for the slightly different Books of Mormons... To see the original you'll need to view the printer's manuscript copy--I believe they may publish it through the Joseph Smith papers project however we just purchased it from the RLDS (there is a website). There might be a side by side explaination in an online encyclopedia. Basically Joseph Smith realized either before or after printing it that he needed to change some grammatical errors. He also altered a few scriptures for clarity in another edition, I think white and delightsome became pure and delightsome, and a few mentions of Christ distinguished him from the Father--but it wasn't so thorough or dramatic that the old scriptures are pure trinity and the new ones pure godhead as some people claim--or there would have been a lot more edits. Outside of the introductory pages, I don't think any more edits have been made after he died (that's probably the biggest difference between denominations, and probably why the Strangites didn't care about which one you used--but the Hendrickites did because they didn't believe Joseph Smith was in the right up to his death), although you can find translations, including illustrated scriptures for children that simplifies it. The mainstream latter-day saint ones are useful because of all of the footnotes to other scriptures. Interesting fact: the Joseph Smith Translation used in our (brighamite/latter-day saints) Bible is only select passages, whereas the RLDS had the whole translation (not sure why we didn't use it, perhaps to deflect people saying hey you have a different Bible, or because we didn't have the whole thing in our copyright until the Kirtland Temple sale package). You can find the entire thing either on scriptures.byu.edu (just click on JST version) or if you want it in book form, the RLDS has the "inspired version" they print and the Joseph Smith Papers books at Deseret Bookstore has the complete JST in one of their books. You can find out why Joseph Smith did this in the Doctrine and Covenants (the book of Commandments is the first several dozen books--the current D&C is almost the complete thing collected during Joseph Smith's time, plus a few 19th and 20th century revelations--but it's too overwhelming to publish every new revelation like the RLDS do--an online encyclopedia can give you a side by side comparison of that). Change of subject...I have mentioned doing a video on this sect of Catholicism before, I saw someone do a video on them since then and it was pretty disrespectful and he wouldn't let them talk; I was thinking David could do a much better job of this group the video is titled: "The Fast Growing Religion Is WITCHCRAFT?! I visited the Santa Muerte Temple"--okay so it looks like they are a cult (in the old traditional sense) of Catholicism--BUT I HAVE MORE INFORMATION in case you ever do decide to feature churches led by other races, which it sounds like you are considering doing. They spoke English and there were no cartel members and no threats to the interviewer, even though they said that people come in all the time to tell them off (interestingly not the Catholic church itself--research papers I saw online said that American clergymen are sympathetic, but they are ostracised in Mexico and the Vatican is not very happy either). This particular one had a store in the front and an altar in the back. They do try and put Christ first and do things through him, but they weren't very familiar with the scriptures and didn't believe it when the interviewer told them about the turning of the cheek scriptures (they seemed to find hope in revenge). It definitely is heavily Mexican-pagan influenced, but I wouldn't have mentioned them if they didn't have 3 million members 10 years ago and are believed to have grown exponentially far past any other Christian sect--they might make up 1/10 of all Hispanic Catholics). I'm not sure you'd be able to just open the church part of the directory, you may have to go to one of their stores to get information (they'll have what looks like skeletal virgin Marys--that's their saint--death herself which they had an interesting interpretation of as to why death was so holy in the video), or just visit a store in the southwest instead of a church building--since it seems those stores are hubs for their culture from what I researched. There's so little information on them, and it's crazy because there needs to be more understanding.

They probably have the original chapters. I forgot which year it was but the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints divided up the chapters more and added verses to make it easier to study alongside the Bible.

I was just there, but decided to attend a Community of Christ church several blocks away. This church differs in that they will bring up the Holy Bible. They are also nice to Jesus and me.

Fun fact about their BOM. It has 2 Esdres cross referenced with 1st Nephi.

I think they might use the 1830 chapters of the Book of Mormon. I think the modern chapters in LDS are from 1933 or so.

David, I’m sure you’ve noticed by now that the white shirt, short sleeve or long sleeve, dark colored slacks and option to wear necktie or not. It’s just a simple uniform if you will of presenting yourself to Jesus Christ and heavenly father. In our meeting houses we believe we know we realize that heavenly father and his son Jesus Christ are in our presence, we dress accordingly as to how we would in their presence. And I think that’s a wonderful thing so many people think we’re stuffy because we wear a white shirt and dark slacks and try to look nice in the presence of heavenly father and his son Jesus Christ. One KZfaq content creator, made some weird comments about it and how he didn’t feel like he needed to dress up to go to church and I suggested to him that he go to a Goodwill store And buy a four dollar white shirt and a seven dollar pair of dark slacks and it’s a really inexpensive outfit to put together. I mean some people want to wear dockers and Van Husen shirts and that’s OK too. I like dressing up to go before God and his son Jesus Christ. It’s not an inconvenience to me. It’s an honor to be able to do so.

David, have you checked Family Search to see if any of your ancestors were members of the LDS church? I have a feeling your family comes from England and you are probably a pure Ephramite.

I'm curious to know, and hopefully you will see this and be able to respond. Has God told you that you need to attend the LDS sacrament meeting as frequently as possible, or are you simply going by the tradition of the leaders of the church that tell you to attend sacrament meeting as frequently as possible? I'm not saying what's right or wrong, I'm just curious to know if you feel led by God to do that or if you are being led by men. You're going to be on double duty, which isn't bad, but I'm just curious. I know you talk about being converted to the church, but I am just curious to know what your relationship is like with God. I myself have found my relationship to be very different between God and the church. Most of that stems from the way that other people treat me, and I know all of us have different experiences. The Mormon church is not of God because they deny the divinity of Christ. If God the Father is a Father, then He would be an eternal Father. always has been, always will be a Father.. eternally. So who is He eternally Fathering??? Not human beings because we didnt always exist. Well, He is eternally Fathering The Son...The Eternal Son. only God is eternal, so the Son is God as well.🤷 pretty simple math
