My mom got SO excited when we got our first dishwasher. Not because of the convenience, but because she could change the color panels. Ah the good ol’ days ❤

the '70's was my decade! And eating as a family was done almost every night unless dad was working late which wasn't too often. I remember our first microwave too, it was huge compared to today's version. Plenty of tupperware and harvest gold appliances which worked well! It was a great time to grow up.

I wish companies would bring back appliances with some color. They are so boring nowadays. Regarding the durability of things or appliances built in those days I agree with you. My GE hand mixer is 40 years old and still works perfectly. I love the ceramic containers of that era! Again, so colorful and whimsical. Thank you for another lovely video.

Another popular color for kitchen appliances was copper; I once gifted my parents with a swell copper-colored refrigerator in 1974. Back in the 70s, I rented a small Manhattan apartment which had linoleum flooring in the kitchen; it was a print with a rosy tone. But it was old and the edges curled up; it was a great day when I purchased that apartment and put in tile!

I remember the Woolworths counter with the diet special containing one canned cling peach half, a dollop of cottage cheese and a plain burger patty in a leaf of iceberg lettuce, also, dinners at my house we're in the living room in front of the TV with everyone having their own foldable tv tray with a frozen dinner..

I lived in a little city that still had a Woolworth with a lunch counter in the back. They didn't sell burgers, though, just pop, ice cream, hot dogs, and soft pretzels. I beat the crap of their old pinball machines lol

PSS I can say so much about this era lol. I still have one of my parents old Corning ware Pyrex bowls. It’s white with blue floral print. I had my parent’s original burnt orange crockpot for the longest time, but it eventually died 🙁 So I replaced it with a newer one. I am old school. I love the decor from the 1970’s! ❤ And truly loved watching this 😊

We had dinner all together every evening and we only had breakfast together on the weekends. Mom usually outdid herself on the weekends with a huge breakfast. During the summer we usually made our own breakfast of cereal. Sometimes a hot cereal was made. We didn’t have a microwave until the 80’s. We didn’t really use it. It was small and took up counter space. Our Mr. Coffee was one that hung on the underside of the top cabinets. We never had a dishwasher. No ice-maker either. We eventually got a popcorn maker but it was more trouble than it was worth. We either did popcorn on the stove or the microwave. Linoleum was very popular in kitchens and bathrooms. One of our homes in the 70’s did have a low pile carpet in the kitchen that we used a carpet sweeper on. Your videos always trigger so many memories!

We had an orange kitchen with gold appliances and wood cabinets. The floors were linoleum with a bold orange, brown and gold pattern. We ate meals together in the kitchen as a family. Everyone I knew did. Friends all had dinner times to be home or get in trouble! Mom cooked all the meals because my dad hated any convenience foods. As kids it was a treat to get a tv dinner when our parents when out on Saturday nights. We were blessed and I am glad I grew up when I did! My grandpa used slim fast however he put ice cream in it because he thought it tasted terrible. He called it slim slow and cuss about how it didn’t work!

When we redid our 1929 house we used black and white vinyl flooring in the kitchen. It looked great and added to the vintage feel of the house. The house had modern elements but we kept the essence of a vintage home. I'm sorry we sold it!

My grandparents built their dream retirement home in 1978, changed almost nothing, and we sold it in 2018 with the original kitchen, wall paper, carpet, avocado bathroom with green leaf wallpaper, and floral colour-themed bedrooms with coloured ceilings! Unfortunately the house didnt find a big fan of the 70s and it was gutted and rennovated.

Laura it is so wierd you posted this. This week I decided to turn my 1950’s aesthetic kitchen into a 1970’s aesthetic lol. I’ve been researching and digging through all my treasures on the attic. The color palette of the 70’s is very earthy and soothing to me.

18:42 My grandparents did. Meals were eaten together, at the dining table, over 95% of the time. At home breakfast and dinner was eaten at the table as well, usually only with my mom's boyfriend though for breakfast and all of us for dinner.

18:51 yep, that's a typical lunch at my grandparents. Open faced sandwich, Campbell's soup or leftover with a handful of potato chips/veggie sticks. They never bought TV dinners, dinner would be meat, potato/sometimes rice, a cooked vegetable and side salad. If there was dessert it would be a individual ramiken of pudding or a scoop of ice cream with a wafer cooky.

Vinyl floor very long lasting. But it scratches and the cute designs may fade with years of use specially on high traffic areas. Tile is the best.

Some of the flooring needed waxing. I can’t really remember. We had a house built in 1984 and it had the kind you just use hot water with a little soap to clean. Some floors needed stripping I think. I can’t remember the differences between floors that needed wax and those that didn’t.
