This song is beautiful. I like all versions: Curtis Mayfield. Gladys Knight, Angie Stone and Lauren Hill. The words are poetry in love

She literally, and this is no exaggeration, sounds like an angel singing this song. Her voice has something truly special within it.

GOOD LAWD!!!!!! TALK ABOUT A JAW-DROPPING REMAKE!!!!!! Curtis is probably somewhere in Heaven smiling from ear to ear. That Lauryn Hill has always been an amazing vocalist.

She kept it as close to Curtis as possible while still being able to put her L boogie funk on it. Gladis night did to much to the song. It's so believable when L boogie sangs it.

Ok-everyone. Curtis Mayfield wrote this song for the Claudine soundtrack in 1974. Then it was sung by Gladys Knight. He has his own version of the song which is raw and real. Angie Stone, Aretha Franklin as well as Ms. Lauryn have all remade the song. Monica sampled the song basically. Curtis was a musical genius. RIP Mr. Mayfield.

When a poetess sings a poet's song it sounds like this. Thank you Lauryn for singing, and Curtis for writing! My second favorite version right behind Gladys, and that is saying a lot!

I had no idea Lauryn covered this song. This is absolutely beautiful. Beautiful and tender and so poetic.

Although Curtis Mayfield is the poet and Father of the original and best version, Ms Hill ROCKED her interpretation!

And she's doing this without the help of studio-level acoustics and mastering. Open-air mic and she still pushes her range to her limits. Powerful. --
