With the release of The Jinx Part 2 let's take a look back to the Robert Durst trial. Robert Durst stands trial for the 2000 murder of friend Susan Berman. The trial began just before the pandemic in early 2020 and was halted two weeks in. The restart happened May 17, 2021, with the same jury panel.
The defendant’s wife Kathleen McCormack Durst went missing in 1982. Evidence and testimony would show that Robert Durst killed her, the prosecutor said. The defendant allegedly told Berman it was an accident and asked her for help. She served as his alibi.
Berman, 55, was shot execution-style at her Beverly Hills home in 2000, and the prosecution suggested that it was because of what she knew about Kathleen’s death and disappearance. As defense lawyer Dick DeGuerin would have it, however, Durst is innocent. His client only came across the body, panicked, and fled, he maintained.

This lawyer asks questions and does not seem to hear the answers. He keeps asking questions that have already been answered.

For all the bs this young woman had to go through growing up she’s so easy to listen to. I’ve met so many adults who grew up like this who do not turn out this well adjusted. It sounds like her life, while not perfect (who’s is!?) is manageable. Never underestimate the power of the actions of a parent. Neglect at such a young age by both mom and dad lasts a lifetime. And I can still see that sadness in her eyes. I just wished Mella had reconciled with Susan before Susan was killed. I can tell Mella is still heartbroken over that.

At long last Susan gets some respect and depth, instead of being referred to as "a failed mobster's daughter, murdered by a rich psychopath".

I am sure that Jury will translate in-depth this testimony. All my respect for this witness full of calm and dignity faced with defendant and his attorneys. She is right in her judgment and she done a clear description of Susan. We meet this kind of women in our lives, as Susan and we understand her actions

in your opinion and to help me understand, why do people, especially mella, not want to help solve the murder(go to court) to find the killer of a loved one or friend? pls/ty

Well, being that manipulative would be normal for a drug addict. I think DA showed how angry someone like that could make someone; if that someone was a dangerous person; angry enough to kill her.

Susan likely had a narcissistic personality order: She ended the relationship because she can’t allow her “daughter” to share love with anyone else. That’s master manipulation to the core.

Susan called to the School by helping her idol, Mr. Durst 👌. After, she begin to think at all! And in her practical mind she turned out to be a solution for solving her problem with money. She forgot the main thing! Mr. Durst didn't ever spend too much money and he became aggressive under pressure. Or Susan pressed him. From a love affair, so strange for me, maybe a marriage a troix, he was able to escape of Susan as well.

@@maryb6672 It was an 8 yr sentence so it will be over soon. But not over now for Durst. He'll be back to finish it (or CA will do a deal with Tx to take that sentence over I guess...) and soon after that he will be dead of despair. - now about to be sentenced to Life without parole (he will die during the legal challenges for sure - they will dragon for years). Meantime he will sit in jail, or die. How appropriate.
