It does seem to be a recurring theme of these videos that its all about growth and size before they are ready. Nothing wrong with getting good and profitable at a couple things and growing slowly. Or not growing at all in size. I know many small outfits in our area that make a great living by just being efficient.

indeed, its too easy to do as well because you make more and more money so you want to keep reinvesting all of it to keep the same pace of growth without ever building any capital for inevitable downturns. its very common.

I saw them leaving in a over priced 4Runner and something else. What about buying crew cab trucks and making them work trucks and daily drivers? Less overall personal cost, more right offs and 2/3 the brand awareness in the community. P4P- what about a salary based off of P4P that allows them to make a little less weekly but pays them year round. Aka spread that same earned 10 months of P4P out to 12 months.

I always wondered what it would be like to have brothers work with me and my lawn care business, but i also realise having employees instead of family working helps me focus on profit and being able to pay employees where family would let it slide. Its a double edge sword not having someone willing to give a hand on a sunday without getting paid for the time but also blessed that i never grow faster than what my business provides financially because IOUs dont exist with employees

Hey Mike. I did a podcast with you a while back and have been consuming every piece of your content since. My question is about post card marketing. We do mowing and landscaping. Would it be better to make specific post cards for each service or just a couple cards that generalize the 5 services we offer? For example, to attract more mowing customers. Is a card specifically designed for targeting mowing clients better than a post card that has all of our services listed?

Not necessarily true. I charge less than a lot of businesses in my area, but I’m not cheap either and I am booked out most years 2 to 3 months. And those people actually wait for me to get to their jobs.

@@nathanjamesDeweymaybe your areas better then most , but in the majority of places especially my area there’s 50 companies in a 10 mile radius, not including the other 200 crack heads with a pickup truck and a couple of tools doing it for next to nothing to get there next high . Plus you got tons of people all over face book that aren’t actually established companies doing the jobs for next to nothing . I can’t tell you how many times I’ve set up jobs with customers, confirmed price ,day to do the job which is usually about a week after estimate and they end up canceling due to a lower price or someone who’s going to do it same day . The only way to prevent this is to collect a proper deposit and collect a signed document, not worth the hassle. Also a no refund on deposit after contract is signed

@@dylanstevely1443 in my area there’s a lot of businesses too. And all the good businesses are literally months out already like you said if they’re literally a week out or can do it the same day they’re probably doing it for no money or not even a legitimate business it’s only February and I’m already booked out a complete month.
