I've spent most of my adult life living with chronic back pain. Listening to how the musician described her body, her home as a prison is exactly how I've described it for myself. You want so much but your body chains you and forces you to be still. It's unbearable after a point and I found myself entertaining a lot of dark thoughts for a long time. I consider myself fortunate, I was able to have a surgery that should remove most if not all of the pain. But I'm still in recovery, I'm still trying to regain strength to live my life freely and outside of my home. Her story speaks to me, and for anyone reading this who suffer from chronic pain or illness, know that you're incredible. You're strong, even if it means just making it another day. You still got there, and that is a strength that a lot of people don't understand. Keep being amazing, I believe in you.

Most old paints were made with stuff like cyanide or arsenic as well and some artists died/got super sick after painting with them. Most mummies got eaten too 😁

Long live the rat queen. Also, the first "Layers of Fear" and its DLC & at least part of Layers of Fear 2 always felt like they were journeying through mental disorders and problems for me at first. Things like Schizophrenia & psychotic breakdowns, PTSD & pressures of success & pressures of expectations. But then the Rat Queen appeared, and I got confused. What exactly was this series trying to tell us? Without the Rat Queen, the stories sound a lot like they are showing experiences of people with different mental health problems and how they can be hereditary in some cases. But with the Rat Queen, it feels like madness induced by a supernatural being that makes them go insane and cause pain and suffering to either sustain herself or to increase her power. It feels like the actual message was buried underneath a new storyline that shouldn't be there. As if the Rat Queen should not have been there in the story. Butt as there were more games released, they wanted to connect the games to each other and fully created the Rat Queen and added her later on in the development of Layers of Fear 2.

Unfortunately I gave the complete edition of this game a try after seeing so many good reviews and articles about this game series on Steam and whatnot. Here is a case where I can say this is modern bullshit gaming, and current audiences don't know what in the fuck is good anymore. They rave about this game series being good. After finishing the entire first part (The Painter) and continuing through two parts of the Writer's segment, I realized this is nothing more than a walking sim "horror" game with absolutely zero scares and zero gameplay. What a shame this trend of games is, where basically nothing actually happens. No real enemies (a wraith like ex-wife walks after you slowly, and you just hold up a lantern and chase her away), no real gameplay (no weapons, no survival items, nothing), and a boring, lackluster story in ALL of the parts of these games from what I saw here. What a travesty. I am glad I grew up in the real era of gaming, the 90s and 2000s. This kind of SHIT would not pass for games then. Imagine horror games like Resident Evil didn't have tight ammo and item usage so it's difficult to survive. And didn't have enemies that scare you (the alien-like creature in the sewers in RE4, or Mr X in RE2 stalking and cornering you). The you would have a game like this. Where there is zero scares. Zero survival. Zero game. That's my youtube comment review of this whole shit ass series and I'm uninstalling now. What a waste of time this was. I can't even trust in people's reviews on Steam anymore for games, as they've seem to have lost any idea of what a good game is anymore.

@@journeytosilius1 I feel like this could’ve (or rather should’ve) been it’s own comment as opposed to a reply to mine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Albeit I never actually played the games myself (I neither have the time or the right setup of that) and have only ever watched others play it. Maybe if I was the one playing it my opinion may change or maybe it wouldn’t who knows. There’s nothing wrong with preferring survival horror games such as RE but this is more a psychological thriller and is more about the characters descent into madness. It’s not meant to jump out and scare you or attack you but rather make you feel uncomfortable and question everything you think you know about the game and the characters. Although this is just my personal opinion in the perspective of a WATCHER not a PLAYER so take what you will from this or even ignore it, it’s not my problem. Just simply replying to a very passionate (to put it politely) comment that I felt shouldn’t be under my own as a response to a simple applaud to this person’s video which likely took a VERY long time to make

Long live the rat queen I must say BRAVO! BRAVO! both for the devs to make such an art and for you for editing and the covering this game, It is an art in it self. But I must admit I couldn't finished it in one sitting not because it's boring or too long, I mean I had the entire weekend. But it is because the game is very thought provoking and I really appreciate you made this video because I probably will be too scared and too absorbed by the story... I might never finish it. So as a viewer I must say thank you.

Long live the Rat Queen! As an artist who has lost the capability to further her career, this whole story is authentic and moving to me. From the age of 4, I was dancing, winning competitions, shows and expressing myself through dance. At the age of 12, I began to have problems with my joints and fell into depression. Despite immense pain and constant visits to the doctor, I continued to dance. For the next six years, I was addicted to pain medication and at the age of 18, I was done with dancing. Only now, as a 21-year-old woman, I am slowly starting to live without passion. Even though I still have many talents like photography, sculpting, singing, and maral, I am unable to fill the void in my soul. When I saw the very beginning of this video, I couldn't help myself and breathlessly ogled the story that was so tragic and yet so similar to mine. Thank you for the hard work and long hours you put in making this video !

‼️I cant be the only one who was so so disappointed that for the writer in the lighthouse we didn't get a full game and just got a couple extra scenes. I was expecting a full game that was about a writer driven mad. Like the shining crossed with that real life mystery about the lighthouse keepers who disappeared. It was really disappointing we got two scenes and then it was same games! They advertising as layers of fear 3. It was just a remaster. And they had already done like two other remasters. Felt like the devs just got lazy and didnt want to make a full story. But wanted that full game money. We didnt need another remaster of the same games. Also why do the devs keep forcing the stories to connect. The games would be so much better if they were about separate stories. They need to just stop making the games. Their heart isn't in it anymore pretty obviously. And it's just about a cash grab now. That game went viral. They didn't need to sell out play could have kept their artistic integrity instead. Just really sad about how far downhill a series that i originally LOVED that was so unique it had so much potential went. I KNOW im not the only one who feels like this.

Serious question... was the script for the video AI generated? Because it just sounds like a mush of meandering sentences. For example, art/ family-marriage analogy BS. That was seriously weird. The 3 hour length seems impressive but not when you realize 90% of the runtime is just cutscenes/dialogue directly from the game and only 10% of the runtime is ACTUAL commentary. And pretty slow/meandering commentary at that. Edit: all of this is my opinion though, no offense to others if they actually liked this.

Hey there, no the script wasn't AI generated. When I created this video I wanted to try a slightly different style than my normal, trying to incorporate the soundtrack and atmosphere of the game more since I believe it to be the best qualities of the series. And doing my normal commentary, I felt lost a lot of what I thought is special about the series. The commentary style was more trying to push the particular protagonists perspective (writer/artist/actor) rather than an unbiased outside perspective to play into the tone. Simply an experiment for something I thought would be interesting and creative at the time. It's not the style that I have chosen to continue beyond this video, since I have adapted and learnt new things since. But like most things, some people enjoyed it and others didn't which is all part of the process. I appreciate the constructive perspective and completely understand where you are coming from and if you enjoy pure commentary, all of my videos except this particular one is in that style if you would give them a chance to see if you prefer those types. 💚

You failed to EXPLAIN a lot of the hidden details. How to unfinished paintings resembled different things like a cave, or a fish swimming, and the actor you didn't point out ALL the movie references!!! From Metropolis in the engine room, to the secret crack in the wall showing the hallway scene with the twins from the Shining, to the death scenes from Se7en, and the random reference to Rubber Johnny with the man with the giant tumor brain in the wheelchair. You missed all of that. What's the relation of the kids and the actor? How the kids DIDNT watch the same movie over and over, they watched these various different movies. Wizard of Oz, Treasure Island..... and they played games where they were in the movies. How did the writer lose her son? The part with the treasure how you have to walk on the backs of random people to get to the top. The rat queen being symbolic for the creative muse of these artists. What did the mystery employers do to get the writer so mad? How you can choose different paths in the games with different endings. How we don't know if the actor is an actress or actor. And depending how you play changes their gender. collecting the posters of various movies inspired by real life movies, like susperia. How you randomly find pieces of the doomed ship floating in the ocean to collect. the spaceship part where you blow up meteors being a reference to the silent film Trip to the Moon. I mean you didn't explain ANYTHING really. You scratched the surface KINDA but you just didn't explain much. disappointed

The narration was impressive, but I had to call it quits at the 16-minute mark because the writing was just too terrible. Right from the start, they claim that the protagonist is being compared to artists like Picasso, but then they turn around and say that his wife is even better than him. If she was truly better, why aren't they celebrating her instead? And don't even get me started on that first phone call. Seriously, even a ninth-grader could write better dialogue. Then, we have the happy couple expecting their first child, a girl. The story goes on to say that the artist believed nothing could be better than having a daughter. But then, at the 16-minute mark, he suddenly can't go on without marrying her because he wants his name on the most beautiful "artwork," I.E. her. It doesn't make sense. Why would a man want his family name on the "artwork" so badly, but also think that having a daughter, potentially ending his family name, is the best thing ever? It's clear that the developers were trying too hard to please a certain crowd, and the result is a dialogue that fails on multiple levels. I'm done here unless someone can assure me that the story improves later on. The line he said about wanting his future wife to take his family name at the 16-minute mark was actually quite well-written. It's just a shame that the rest of it was terrible.
