Robert Patrick started in an early movie a long time ago that was about 2 hours long & he played a guy who knew alot of marshall arts & spent most of the film RUNNING HIS ASS OFF constantlly inbetween KUNG FU FIGHTS. I think it was shot in Malaysia. He had a woman who needed help in finding some kind of Treasure Idol & he had blond, curly hair & did all his own stunts. I just don't remember the Name, sorry. Sometime in the very late 60's or early 70's. Look it up in his IMBD BIO.

Fun Fact: Linda Hamilton has a twin sister. The scene where Sarah Connor is repairing the head of The Terminator, that is not a mirror. That is her sister sitting on the other side mimicking her movements. They did this in order to keep the special effects to a minimum. It took many takes to get it right.

Industrial Light and Magic had a contract with Silicone Graphics, only allowing publicity that SGI was the only digital VFX supplier for the film. But, the digital VFX were so bleeding edge, that in scenes with the T-1000 running, his arms would become detached from his shoulders. ILM had to secretly hire several (Adobe) Photoshop artists to fix issues like this manually.

I still think 99% of this film looks better than anything that's come out since CGI took over the film industry. CGI just can't beat practical effects, and the practicals on this film were executed flawlessly. If they remade this move today, the T100's liquid metal would probably look better, but everything else about the film would likely look worse as they'd do most of it with CGI these days.

This is one of my top five favorite scifi movies. Fun facts. The guard at the mental institution that the T-1000 killed by copying him was play by two twin actors. Don and Dan Stanton. They also appear together in briefly in "Good Morning Vietnam". They also used Linda Hamilton's real life twin sister, Leslie Hamilton Gearren to briefly play Sarah Conner's reflection in a mirror in one scene, and as a T-1000 copy of Sarah in another. Sadly Leslie passed away in 2020.

The T 1000 (liquid guy) was feared even by Skynet who created it. They (Skynet) wasn't sure of its full capabilities and used it as a last resort. Sarah's nuclear nightmare won an award for it's realistic depiction of a nuclear bomb going off. One of the coolest stunts, the helicopter going under the bridge, was actually done for real. No CGI or miniatures.
@mrspook4789
@mrspook4789 Жыл бұрын
It's not that it wasn't fully aware of its capabilities unlike the T-800 the T-1000 does not have a read and write switch It is always learning and self-aware from the start which also means they can disobey Skynet's orders and their own programming if they choose and Skynet had no one Terminator that could defeat it or catch it until the T-X came and that had multiple weapons that could defeat a T-1000 which makes sense sense it's designed to kill other Terminators not an all out infiltrator, there's also other variants of the T-1000 like the T-1001 and T-1002, T-1001 (Sarah Connor Chronicles) possessed all the abilities of the regular T-1000 which is a lot of them but had the bonus of being stronger faster, quicker regeneration, and can even split itself apart like a REV-9 but more than once however other units that split apart did have a limited intelligence The regular T-1000 could do the same but it had to radio control by itself instead of them being independent, T-1002 is basically the last one but it has better shape shifting abilities and it's stronger and can stand toe to toe with a T-X in a comic book but was ultimately defeated by it, there is also the T-XA which exists in another Terminator universe and I'm not sure if it's even officially real but it is the stuff of nightmares and it also had Skynet's consciousness similarly to the T-5000 or SKY-1.

They didn't fear it it was just a prototype more untested so to speak but also more advanced than the T-800s at the same time and that wasn't the main timeline btw, that's the sarah connor chronicles show you're referencing, not canon . At the time f T2's future that was their most advanced model. The T-1000 was also based off of a resistant fighter which they also reference in the game that came out a few years back.

@MKF30
@MKF30 Жыл бұрын
@@Stoffinator I've read the comics, novels besides the shows and movies I can assure you there is no canon confirmed lore that says Skynet ever fearing it though, this was most likely a fan theory/fan fic you read or TSSC, which isn't canon to the movies canon timelines. It created it so why would it fear it? That makes no sense especially when Skynet has also created far more dangerous and advanced models than the T-1000. Skynet also used the same model in other timelines. It was a prototype model they used at the time, which the T800 even confirms in T2. If anything they feared the T-800's being more sentient as to why they locked the CPU chip so that the T-800's can't learn and learn empathy for humans. In the directors cut of T2 there's a scene that shows this where T800 explains this to Sarah and John, so John asks can we reset the chip so you can learn? The T800 says yes then gives directions how to do so, so they take it out and reset the T800 it then put it back it. The T-1000 can't be reprogrammed by anyone other than Skynet, except in the John Connor Chronicles novel but that's not canon and never actually happened anyway. Yeah I don't think Resistance is canon but that was a nice callback and probably makes sense in the canon somewhere along the line since all their modes are based off humans in their database. This was the case with Arnold for example(his human in the canon which T3 Rise of the Machines confirmed) that Skynet used as a the human look for their T-800 look as to why they all look like him.

This is really where the story ended. Cameron moved on after this, but the studio decided to resurrect the franchise 11 years later, kept changing the timeline and basically rebooting it until the last one tanked at the box office, leaving the story with no ending. If you stop here, you get the ending the director intended.

During the scenes where John is fleeing the mall on his bike and when John, Sarah & the T-800 are leaving the mental hospital, Robert was running so fast that he kept catching up to the vehicles. There is this recurring theme all along the movie : what makes us human ? What does that mean to be human ? We have a human starting to act like a machine, killing whoever is needed to accomplish the mission. While in parallel we have a machine learning to act as a human, to the point of becoming a surrogate father and expressing empathy. The answer given by the movie is pretty straightforward : Love makes us human. Sarah was saved by her love for her son, and the T800 became more human because he learned the value of love. The answer may not be that mind blowing in itself, but what makes a great story are not the thematics but how they are presented.

Famous blown line where John is supposed to give an itemized list of the police equipment outside; instead he says "All of them, I think". Robert Patrick said that Schwarzenegger worked very hard to sell the T-1000 character, allowing him to throw the terminator around when they fought. 👍T2 is one of the best movie sequels ever made. Linda Hamilton's performance is amazing. She clearly worked out alot to prepare for this movie. Sarah Connor went from a kind young woman working as a waitress to a physically and mentally hardened badass in T2. Unfortunately Sarah almost goes too far in attempting to kill Miles. If she had killed Miles Bennett Dyson it would have destroyed her humanity and made her not much different than a Terminator. We see Sarah realize what she's doing is wrong. She stops suddenly and clearly regrets trying to kill him as his family begs for his life. Miles was a good man with a family and had no clue that his working would lead to Billions dead. Miles was such a good man he even saved the lives of the very men that shot him by warning them to run out before the bomb goes off. The molten metal is too hot for the T-1000 to hold its shape and breaking him down to were he is now permanently mixed into the large qaulity molten metal.

Classic film that after 31 years, is STILL better than anything today. This film revolutionised CGI in films. The T1000 was the first early motion capture character when he was a CGI effect. The motion capture technology that is used today, like in Jim Cameron's Avatar films, is thanks to Terminator 2.

A couple of fun facts: John's foster mother was played by Jenette Goldstein, who became famous as the muscular, butch-as-hell female Space Marine Private Vasquez in Aliens. She worked with James Cameron 3 times (Aliens, Terminator 2, and Titanic). She runs a specialty bra shop for large busted women now. The scientist's wife was played by S. Epatha Merkerson, who 7 years after this movie would start a 18 year run of 390 episodes of Law & Order, at this point more episodes than anyone else on the show, although Sam Waterston will pass her in early 2023.

The creepy warden's casting scene was the licking scene. The casting agent was not pleased to have her faced licked by applicants. This guy they chose was too nice, however. When he had to punch Sarah in the stomach, Linda Hamilton asked him not to pull back, but he couldn't help himself and held back, so they had to repeat it again and again, with Linda bending over and over. She was so pissed about that that when it was her turn to attack him, she really hit him and broke his nose.

In the deleted scenes they show that the shattering seriously affected the T-1000. It is sticking to metal surfaces, healing more slowly and glitching constantly. That's why it moves so deliberately and tries to torture Sarah into betraying John rather than killing her; it is no longer in control of its imitation abilities and even having some difficulty holding together. Indeed, when it confronts John as Sarah, there's an added shot where John sees that "Sarah's" feet are oozing through the metal grate, indicating which mom is real. It's a shame they cut that stuff out because now the T-1000 just seems like an incompetent sadist and the T-800 a moron for shooting it and giving it a chance to reform quicker.

Fun fact: in the Spanish translation, the iconic phrase "Hasta la vista, baby" wouldn't have been noticeable as the rest of the movie was already in Spanish, so it was changed to "Sayonara, baby". While keeping the motif of a "catchy" phrase in another language, it made no particular sense that John would use a Japanese catch phrase, while the original made perfect sense given his past history as a kid with her mom, on the run near Mexico.
@RuntotheMovies

Ha! That's really funny but it also makes sense. Things often get lost in translation or have to be changed for language. This goes far beyond movies and is nothing new. If you examine the scene where the T1000 walks through those metal bars, you get a clear and obvious shot of every character turning their heads to watch him, before he does that. CGI was so new that seeing that was an instant slap in the face for anyone seeing it back then, and it was almost comforting knowing that you were not the only one who just saw that incredible thing, everyone else saw it too - even the characters on the screen saw it!
