Scotland's First Minister Humza Yousaf has said he will not resign, telling LBC that he has not considered his position.
During a visit to a housing project in Dundee, he denies that his time as First Minister is coming to an end, saying: “I intend fully to be fighting a vote of no confidence. I intend to win that vote of no confidence.”
He told LBC: "I’m out here delivering on the priorities of the people. £80 million towards affordable housing, while the opposition are just playing silly political games. let them play the games that they're going to play.
"I'll be writing to each of the party leaders in the party group represented within the Scottish Parliament to have that discussion with them about their priorities and what are our priorities. And I would say to the Greens. I understand and I've heard they're upset.
"I've heard their anger and I understand it, and that was certainly not my intention. But what I would say to them is I think it's really important that they do reconsider their position in relation to the vote of no confidence because the SNP and the Greens, although not in a formal arrangement in in cooperation agreement, still share a number of values we still share important priorities.
"I've heard they're upset, and it certainly was not my intention to make them feel that way, so I would hope that they are willing, once I write to them, to meet, to have a discussion I intend to go into that voting of confidence and win that vote of no confidence."
He said it was not his intention to anger the Greens by ending the power-sharing deal, saying he hoped the party would “reconsider their position.”
He says he is confident he can win the no confidence vote, after he scrapped his power-sharing deal with the Green Party, which had supported the SNP led Scottish government for three years.
He faces a no-confidence vote next week, with the Scottish Greens planning to vote against him.

What's left of the SNP membership, around 55,000 voted, and Humza secured the most votes. The population of Scotland is 5.5 million, so less than 1% of Scots were allowed to vote. Humza is a clown, as is anyone who voted for him.

@PhilipOConnell
@PhilipOConnell 24 күн бұрын
It's a problem because if a leader changes during a term, they can make changes to what policies get put forward, which is an issue if some of those changes mean policies pledged in the manifesto by the previous leader end up being dropped. People usually vote for a specific party because they like what that party is offering or they think they will do a better job. Also, while it should not matter, who the leader is does tend to influence how people vote.

What? And give it to D.ROSS and the TOXIC toreeeez, they NEVER actually come up with any policies to vote for, the only campaign material you see is "... Blah, blah blah, no to the SNP", not worked for them so far!! And as for D.Ross using the *vote of no confidence* trope, is a bit surprising, do you remember how many times he changed his mind on Johnson et al, it was a bit embarrassing, maybe he thought he might get a knighthood or something, a bit like Davidson, she was well known for *flipflopping* too, and now she's a Dame, who knew? And as for S. Liebor, working for Scotland, last time they were in power up here they sent £millions +++ back to Westminster *cause they couldn't find anything to spend it on* SERIOUSLY? Yep, I'm expecting a pile-on, it's OK. The SNP aren't perfect, what government party is? You can tell the campaigning for the G.E has begun in ernest though... If anyone so much as sneezes in the wrong direction, the smear tactics start. It's as if the voter doesn't matter any more, all we get are sound bites, name calling, mis and disinformation, slogans, promises of polices that weren't promises at all... Just examples of - big red bus, sunny uplands, Brexit bonus, nah it was really the Brucey bonus?? We WILL bring Water back to public ownership, we'll get rid of the 2 child cap, er no we won't etc, there hasn't even been an election yet! It really doesn't matter who the Scots vote for in a UK G.E, we either get Tory or Labour... Go figure! To our lovely English neighbours please don't vote the Tories in again, the UK can't take anymore.

Always love hearing from our betters south about how we are doing things wrong in Scotland. Our colonial masters never comprehend why such government last so long. Because people voted for them. Nor do they comprehend, seemingly, that we live in a Parliamentary system not a presidential one. Well, they don't when it suits them. Maybe if other parties arrived which represented the wishes of the people, this longevity wouldn't last, but until they do (and the English parties are not it) the people, a majority of whom support ending the UK will continue to vite the way they do. Of course they will be ignored by the English establishment in charge. But then, what's new?

@@juliekerr1544 Why would I vote for reform? I’m certainly not a supporter of insular Right Wing politics. I’m a Scottish independence supporter because we want our country back from Westminster rule.

@@juliekerr1544 Laugh all you like. It’s folk with your attitude that has pushed half of Scotland to want to leave the Union. Reform is just full of bitter insular people who want to cut themselves off from the rest of the world. Really sad actually.
