In this video I will show you how to get fitted for the right hula hoop size, along with showing you multiple hula hoop techniques to keep the hula hoop up around the waist in this waist hooping tutorial.
Whether you are using a weighted hula hoop or regular non weighted hula hoop, the hula hoop form of rocking back and forth or moving side to side can be used with both types of hula hoop. Instead of focusing on one technique to learn. I recommend practicing different techniques, as well as spinning in both directions and moving with your hula hoop. Instead of doing the same repetitive motion, standing in one spot, I recommend moving with your hula hoop to enhance your hula hoop workouts, especially if you have weight loss goals to lose weight and burn calories.

It's neat to see the older clips--you've come a long way, Abbey! Great job! I can't hoop at all side to side (or opposite of the direction I normally do). It almost sounds like there's a hint of Hoopsmiles wanting to teach some tricks soon!

I really appreciate your advice. However it is hard to buy/find a hula hoop that has a diameter of 120cm or larger. Could you provide more suggestions on where to buy such a larger hoop. I have tried some smart hula hoops but find it is quite difficult to keep the weight spinning. It seems mastering a real hula hoop is still the best choice.

Youre right. Its hard to find larger hoops. If you can, I recommend getting fitted for a custom made hoop in person. Some handmade hoop makers might be able to build you a bigger hoop. If that doesn't work, I recommend making your own, which i have a video on my channel that teaches you how. If that is not available, I recommend buying 2 collapsible hoops from my affiliate link I have provided in the description of this video. You can take pieces from one hoop and make the other hooper bigger to the size that works for you. At the current moment it may or may not be more expensive to buy 2, but possibly not much more or cheaper than making your own. Depending on where you live in the world the cost of hoop piping has inflated to preposterous prices.

So it's the extra large size to buy? I had my heart set on a weighted hoop to try because I cant get a regular light one to work. But your weighted hoop video said to not get neither

Adding extra weight can only help to a point, while using hoops that are too light can be harder. Once you have enough weight in the hoop, it's really the larger diameter size that can make hula hooping easier, which was demonstrated in this video. Even though Abbey tried the weighted hoop, she was more successful with a hoop that was slightly lighter, but had a larger diameter size
