In this episode we learn how to play variations of a basic Jazz shuffle rhythm on the washboard. We also talk about how to transfer classic drum set rhythms to the washboard, the role and purpose of a drummer in a band, and we finish up by learning some some tips and tricks for playing fast.

Thank you so much!!! I've been playing drums in a trad jazz band & the guitarist gifted me a washboard & some banjo picks...Been drumming all my life & this is bizarre!!! Hahaha! Definitely an ego death (in a good way) and looking forward to doing a bunch of lessons tomorrow. You rock!!!!

Thanks, I just put two playlists up on my channel. One is some videos of my band, the other is a mix of new and old washboard players worth checking out. Just keep working at it, try and enjoy the struggle. You're gonna be great at it.

In the last 10 seconds you play very fast tripplets with both hands.Could you explain this deeper or even better make a video about? Im studying intense now....
