For keeping the thimbles on I have a few tips: First, make sure they are the right size, they need to be pretty snug, you can get lots of different sizes, for material I prefer the sound of zinc thimbles on a zinc board. Second, it's super important that you play with a light and soft touch, for my first year of playing I was way too rough, the hard part is staying light, soft and loose when you play fast, it just takes lots of repetition, sometime I have be aware of my breathing to stay relaxed, don't get tight and stay loose. Finally, one little trick I have is I breath some hot air in them before I stick them on, the steam seems to help them stick a little bit better. Good luck.

@@learnthewashboard5223 Oh my gosh! thank you for your reply. I am using regular sewing thimbles that are a silver color, I don't know if they are zink or not. Is there a place you recommend buying zink thimbles? Thanks for the tip, I will blow hot air into them. I could see from watching your videos that staying relaxed is essential. I will keep on keeping on.

@@kathleengowan2229 my favorite are "Dritz slip stop" thimbles they come in all sizes and the package has a little hole to check your finger, I wear a different size on each finger to keep then really snug. You can get them on ebay or amazon, and most sewing supply shops should carry them as well, but try a few different brands and see what you like best.
