Welcome to Season 3 of How to App on iOS!
In this episode of "How to App on iOS". I will taking a look at the basics of the incredibly versatile Audio Host AUM on iOS. Calling AUM just an Audio Host nowhere near gives it the justice it deserves. It is a virtual patch bay that connects inputs, outputs, Audio Unit extensions, Inter-App Audio apps, Audiobus, soundfile players, built-in signal processing and filters, in any configuration you want. You can route anything to anywhere with mix-busses, effect sends, audiobus ports, and external multi-channel audio interfaces. It truly is the Swiss Army Knife of iOS Audio Apps.

As a late arrival to the digital world and having AUM sitting doing nothing on my iPad.....being a complete mystery to me. This golden and valuable..... conveyed to us with a nice bed side manner... (don’t change :-) I will need to look at this repeatedly...... Thank you so much Jade.

Thanks Mark. I was exactly the same. It had been sitting on my iOS devices for over a year and not really used. Doing this show forced me to look at it and now I can see why so many people rave about it. I hope you get much use out of it going forward. I don't think I could change if I tried. Changing gender was enough change for me LMAO

Oh that’s cool that I was able to show you something new. I’m still learning it all myself but it’s such an incredible app that is going to be used so much more in so many of my processes going forward

@@JadeStarr yeah! If GarageBand supported multiple IAA tracks for recording then it would be awesome, but not AUM’s fault. Thanks again, been great catching these streams. 🍻 to season 3!

Great tutorial Jade. I’ve always wondered about AUM since a lot of people in the community use this app. Wondering if this or Cubasis is the next phase in my recording. I’ll be checking out part 2 and thanks as always for your insights. 🤘

Super awesome and very try informative video. Much appreciated man, it has helped me get around this app and I’m loving it, thanks 🙏 Just one question. I wanna record some real drums using an 8 channel interface. Would I be able to set each channel individually and have a mic plugged into them? 🍻🍻🍻

I'm trying to record drum tracks from Garageband into Cubasis 3. I'm not sure if that's possible. I'm going to continue watching your videos. 🤓😊

Unfortunately GarageBand has no direct out to anything. There is no getting around GarageBands limitations. You can only export tracks out of GarageBand.

Awesome🤜Quick question: how do you back up and restore projects from device to device without losing things along the way?

Or you can hold down and share via air drop to another device. As long as the same apps are on the others device it should open just fine

Once you save a projects. Go into your projects section and hold down on the project until the share sheet pops up then save where you choose

How can I change quickly between presets in AUM? let's say I have three channels to find with three different instruments that have the sounds bass, piano, horns and they have their zones set. then for the next song I need to switch to a new set of presets that this time have strings, rhoads, oboe and they use some new instruments. If I have a set list of 40 songs is there a way to show a list of the 40 presets and just tap go to the next I'm ready to start the next song? I don't see anything in the manual about presets
