My 9th circuit around Wellesbourne Mountford (EGBW) runway 18 right hand circuit.
This is going to be my last official 18 right hand circuit in this series as I feel I've gotten pretty good at it. I want to do some more flights to places to see the sights and learn the ropes around that.
I may come back and do some runway 36 circuits and perhaps some procedures on runway 18 in the future.
This is on my custom Wellesbourne Mountford scenery which can be downloaded at:
* flightsim.to/file/1191/egbw-w...
The custom scenery I mention can be downloaded at:
* flightsim.to/file/266/birming...
* flightsim.to/file/264/nationa...
* flightsim.to/file/268/birming...
The equipment I'm using is:

Hey Flying Theston.......I enjoy your videos and they are the best:) I'm posting this question here as it is your latest video and you might see this. I'm importing scenery to the sim via your QGIS tiles2bing method and it works great. I have a high resolution area around a lighthouse and I can export at level 19 just fine, but at 20 or higher, it does not work. Is there a limitation at 19 or is there some way MSFS can read higher than 19? I haven't been able to figure this out. Thanks!

Well done, that was an excellent final circuit on 18 at Wellesbourne. You really have learnt a lot. Good idea about calling 'Clear prop' before switching on the battery master, certainly no harm in doing this, but the engine ignition system is completely separate from the battery and the engine will continue to run with the battery switched off (try it sometime) but won't start of course. With the key switch in the 'off' position the magnetos are theoretically shorted to ground but if this short was broken for any reason then the prop would become live and might fire if turned by, for example, a faulty starter motor switch. This would require two faults, unlikely but not impossible. With regard to ending your traffic calls with 'Wellesbourne' I'm not sure. If you need some light reading, try googling CAP 413 which is the official CAA Telecommunications manual. There is a more readable summary here publicapps.caa.co.uk/docs/33/20130121SSL22.pdf But very well done indeed.

Thanks very much! I read the document and it doesn't make any reference to ending the call with the name of the airfield, all of the examples just end with intention. I saw them doing this on the official Microsoft flight simulator twitch C152 training stream, maybe it's just something practiced in America? I see in that document why we say vacated instead of clear of runway though :) Also, on my landing I think I was hit by a bug introduced in the world update 3, Asobo have broken all of the flap settings so you get more lift than you should: forums.flightsimulator.com/t/flight-dynamics-bug-details/368499 They're not fixing it till early march either! So if you find yourself getting more lift than expected with flaps extended then this is why. A kind person has created a community patch to try and address it though: flightsim.to/file/8437/world-update-iii-flap-lift-community-hotfix-standard-edition And it definitely flies better than the default C152 in the sim right now.

@@FlyingTheston That answers one of my recent issues, why I've been having to put in a ton of down trim with flaps extended! Never had to before. I will try the mod.

@@152driver1 Yeah Asobo have broken the flaps system, all the numbers are messed up so you get more lift than you should (twice as much I think) and it gets worse the more severe the wind is. Should be fixed in the March update though, the mod works on most of the planes for now I think.

@@152driver1 I'd definitely love to try it, dunno how capable I'd be though. Simulator is one thing, but I bet the real thing is something else!

Well crashes tend to be more painful in real life which is why there is so much emphasis on check lists and procedures. But you''re getting good at that. And you won't be flying solo!
