Thanks for sharing your video. It sure looks like a great time. I never saw anyone ever hunt for them. I heard of it though. The only Timber Rattler I ever saw was touring Pennsylvania spring turkey season in Centre County. I was at my buddy's cabin, and in our out house there was one curled up. Thank God for the Rival I would have never saw it. I would have been in for a big surprise if it would have been dark, it was easy 45 inch and fat 3 1/2 to 4 inch girth. I did get a picture of it because the guys would have thought I was bullshiting them. Although we did find their sheds b4 under the cabin and in the shed behind a shithouse. I never saw a copperhead before until watching this video. They ain't no joke either. Thanks for sharing I think next year I will try and look for one.

Glad to see you guys wearing snake boots. Way too many people go out hunting poisonous snakes wearing sneakers and no protection. Also glad to see you use common sense about them and mentioning about being careful @5:45, shows you know they can be dangerous and it's better to be smart than ignorant. So many other people really don't understand the real danger and act like there's nothing to fear. But in most cases, it's really not fear of the snake, it's respect, mostly for yourself and your own life.

I had no idea we had Copperheads in PA. I looked it up and none in my county (nor rattlers). I'm surprised you can keep them, seeing as how they are venomous. Seems like there'd be a market for them to create anti-venom and you'd have to sell any you kept. Cool video.

Fred - Pennsylvania is allowed to keep "Hots", or venomous snakes. I go to a Exotic pet expo in Hamburg, Pa, and you can buy Rattlesnakes, Cobras, Mambas, Gaboon Vipers, etc. I personally wouldn't want to own venomous snakes, but to each their own. It's fascinating to see them up close in containers. I'll stick to my Ball Pythons!!!

My Dad grew up in Delaware Water Gap area before the war. He told me that on the PA side of the river, it's all copperheads, on the NJ side it's all timber rattlers. If you want to find the motherload of copperheads, go to the PA side of the river at the point of the gap, locate the cold air cave pull off just a short way from the parking lot towards Portland, and climb the boulder field above the cold air cave. I got caught up there on a cold morning in May filming peregrins, and when I climbed over the boulders to go down after it warmed up, there was a huge copperhead under every second boulder coming out to sun itself. They were everywhere. Scared the shit out of me, don't know how I found a snake free path out of there. Never going back.

To be honest I am not a fan of snake hunting in Pennsylvania, but I must say that while watching your videos I really appreciate the respect you have for the snakes. I think it is really good that you guys are also including educational material about the snakes and addressing some of the fear people have for them. The one recommendation I would have is to sterilize your handing equipment between snakes or at least between the different sites that you visit to prevent the spread of snake fungal disease. You can do this by bringing along Clorox wipes or some other form of disinfectant. If you notice blemishes and sores on the faces of some rattlesnakes, it is likely snake fungal disease.

I've been on and seen guided trips of many sorts but your as cool as a cucumber and show extreme patience and Talk to them with enthusiasm just enough to keep their inner Hunter in the Game as much as their outter Man in the Game . Exstreme Professionalism on your part and My Hats Off! I'm certainly NOT judging there ability at marksmanship (lesson learned long ago) My ROTC Rifle team in Highsbhool,! I shot a 196 out of a possible 200 perfect score, The Sargent announced it never being done in the State at my level E1 13yr old 7thgrader 14pound, .22short Cal. rifle, shooting all 3 positions knelling, prone, standing the last being only 4, shots in 9 ring outside the 🎯 bullseye. Anyway my training partner an best friend at the time. Stepped up and shot a 197, only time he'd ever shot close to my scores, But moral of this Long (True) story . It was only time that Counted that John Cristian Scott or anyone shooting near or better than my consistantly simalar high scores took the glory away and I was still as happy as if I topped the Whole State history in Competion Shooting! I think Our names are still on record books and I know they're still hanging on the wall in the local school.. With all the ignorance of the Times and No rifles allowed in the ROTC building, (only weak BB or those plastic balls crappers) if anything now,IDK!. We will Never learn of Natural Exspert Sharpshooters . Some none hunters used to Tell me I was a liar, or crazy when I'd speak of knocking Turkeys or Ducks down in flight with my single shot hog rifle when I was 12 or 13. Our Local Gamewarden put thar to bed when Papaw called him to come get My Hawk I'd wing shot jus to get a better look at Him.LoL! Back then Grown folk all taught kids right from wrong. That big Man picked me up by my overall straps and Told me if I hurt or otherwise harmed another protected specie just for kicks he'd break my rifle around a tree trunk and tan my hide so hard I'd stand in Sunday school for a month of Sundays.. I didn't know exactly what he meant but I knew It was a Real Long Time, for a sore ass .. Hawks where rarer by far back then due to pesticides and ignorance .. Sorry so long , just brings back lots memoirs of my childhood watching hunts an catching snakes . A Dr. used to pay folks a long time ago for Cottonmouths,Copperheads, Rattler's too, I don't remember why. ?? Late 60's an early 70's.?? Did they do anti-venom stuff that far back? I know an old man down from us growing up , saw his 8yr old gson get tagged on his lmiddle finger, walked over to kindling chopping block an chopped that babies finger clean off without batting a eye an some young people where saying he was mean or crazy, but old men and woman praised him up for saving the childs life and whole arm too. Great video. Just curious what do you do with the 1 that you can keep? Pet? Eat it? Anti venom?

Man, for a non-sunny day, that was some nice finds. Q? What does it mean to "tag out"?

we are allowed to keep one rattlesnake and one copperhead with a license or Tag. so once we keep one our tag or license is filled out for that snake.

I personally have a slight phobia of snakes but even then I would not kill one or want to harm one but rather watch from afar they are pretty cool creatures

I'm a snake man. I've handled and been bitten by many non venomous snakes. On purpose of course. But I would like to go do what you guys do sometime. I'm from NC. We got some Rattlers but you rarely ever happen upon one.

Those snakes had a perfect spot beautiful view I bet... the rattlesnakes here in West Texas most of them don't even rattle anymore. I seen someone take the head off with a shovel. the snake did not rattle once. Most of the time we just pick them up and leave them on the outskirts of town and they never rattle I wonder what's up with that a lot of people say it's because of the Hogs

I also live in PA. To hunt Rattlers and Copper Heads do you have to buy an add on to your license like getting a bear tag? Also Is there a tag for them. Or is it a completely different license? Thanks so much. Great video.

I'm in chester county and have seen copperheads. If you are into hiking consider going to the Berks County Pinnacle for a day hike, You can walk up the fire trail to Pulpits Rock and from there hike the AT to the Pinnacle. Between Pulpits rock and the Pinnacle you will see snakes. Stay in the middle of the trail and step on top of logs and hop to the other side -- don't step over!! google Berks County Pinnacle -- not far from Cabelas. nice day trip
