I have seen Sam Esmail's Leave the World Behind!
The movie stars Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke as Amanda and Clay. They opt to rent a house on Long Island for an impromptu weekend getaway with their kids. Late one night, there's a knock at the door - it's Mahershala Ali's GH and his daughter Ruth. They claim they own the house and had to come home unexpectedly due to a blackout in the city.
Catch my thoughts on the new Netflix film in this Leave the World Behind review!

I know right like im the first one to admit when a movoe is horrible even if i love it i mean im a godzilla fan for god sakes 80 percent of the content we get it horrible other than big momsters equals smack down. But ya the thing with the deer is when i checked out if you live in the city ya maybe that can fool you. But deer do and will not act like that no matter the circumstances. Deer wil run yes! Deer will fight yes! Deer will even ask humans for help from time to time. But ive never herd of read abput or seen any studies that say deer will do whatever the F that was in that movie. Hibestly watching this movie i get the same feeling i got when i watched movie 43. Like why was this made into a movie? Who asked for this? Where is this massive following everyone talks about but you.only see a handfull of people praising this movie. The biggest dissapointment was the actors ive seen better from every single one of those actors its almost as if they phoned it in. Yes amazing actors when they phone it in it doesnt seem like they did at all until you compare it to other things tbey have done.

It left me wanting more. I love it. I want a second movie to fellow the characters in this reality. I want to see if U.S. can survive this struggle they find themselves in. I have so many questions. The ending didn't really end. It was lacking. That's what was wrong with it. It needed more context to be considered a good ending. It wasn't even like a cliffhanger ending. It just had a kind of bad ending. Why didn't they show the disaster more in the ending besides showing the girl watching that last episode of friends. The ending is just missing key evidence that makes disaster movies - well, disaster movies. The whole time I watched that movie, I was waiting for the disaster I was promised but left the end of the movie more confused than anything. A lot of people thought the ending was lacking. That's one of the sides of why people didn't like the ending.

Every official review gives it 4 stars plus m, and every real review gives it one star. Critics are scared to give low scores to the Obamas, it’s almost embarrassing watching critics give very high scores to a blatantly terrible movie. It was complete and utter crap on every level. The scariest part was a boat coming ashore and deer standing in a garden, I mean come on.

I just watched it and thought it was stupid on so many levels it's hard to begin. Just a few points. The son just starts pulling out his teeth because they felt weird. He's got radiation poisoning but nobody else does - they pawn it off on a bug bite? There's a face-to-face gun duel that goes to black and when the scene comes back, everyone is good buddies. Stupid girl runs away from home, rides a bike miles through muddy, unpaved, no trail, woods, finds some unknown house, takes out a buffet of food and starts chowing down, then finds a bunker downstairs and watches a movie. She's perfectly clean. Boats and planes crashing into beaches as if the piolet's just disappeared. Guy finds a watch on a beach, goes to pick it up and finds it attached to a dismembered arm. Stumbles backwards in shock only to fall across another dead body and looks surprised. SOMEHOW while he walked up to this he misses seeing an ENTIRE BEACH filled with dead bodies and aircraft parts. Suspenseful musical score going on and on and on and on, but nothing is happening visually that's suspenseful. Racial overtones and people acting unrealistically to strange situations. Finally an ending that will make you throw up a little. I think Pee Wee's Playhouse had more suspense and surprise. But here's the real kicker. I never really look at reviews, but the Netflix advertising said it "skyrocketed to #1 on the thriller list" and I'm sitting there wondering what I missed? Google reviews shows about 50% 1-star reviews. I click on Rotten Tomato's and see Perri giving it a good review and I'm like, "Who is this Perri Nemiroff guy" so I click on to see this full review. And I'm reading comments here and laughing! Perri followers I suppose. People gathering around like minds to cast praise on each other's reviews. Lots of people that have no clue what a good movie is and what is a bunch of nonsense. Or, they can just completely overlook OBVIOUS logical flaws in a movie without question and be entertained by well-acted performances of poorly written characters and plots, and interesting camera shots. Hardly reasons to rate a movie good.

I just finished watching this, and I want to literally restart and watch it again. I firmly believe the answers to all of our questions is from the woman Clay encountered after getting lost going to the store. For those of you who watched this already, catch what Netflix did at this specific dialogue. If you have your captions on like I do, you know if the language changes from English, the captions will translate into English, but also specify what language is being spoken at that time. Netflix deliberately left this out at this scene. Nothing pops up on the screen. So now I gotta wait for my husband to come home who learned Spanish so he can translate what she’s saying. This was a well executed conflict. Because it forces us to put ourselves in Clay’s position. What would you have done? She’s speaking a language you don’t understand, she clearly doesn’t speak English, she knows something or maybe has the answers. But we don’t understand her. Phones are also down. Google translate isn’t going to be useful at this point in time. What would you do?

She doesn't say anything important. The movie is garbage.
@BlasianBobbi215
@BlasianBobbi215 7 ай бұрын
@@gundamzerostrike I think you think it’s garbage because it’s ends completely unresolved. We know the when and the where, but we don’t know the who, the what and the biggest: THE WHY. And I think that’s why it’s so good. If something like that happened, it would be like this. If all of our lines of communication was knocked out and we have no way to get information, this is what it would be like, and that’s the point of the film.
@gundamzerostrike

@@BlasianBobbi215 No. It it garbage because the entire movie is stupid. It's pseudointellectual bullshit that doesn't make any sense, with poor dialogue and generic characters. The script feels like something an eleven year old would write. It is a stupid film that looks smart... but it isn't. The entire: "Oh, it's an invasion plan that has different stages" is something an eleven year old would come up. And they didn't even know to how execute the plan in the movie, since everything they did was stupid and didn't make any sense. Everything that happens in the movie is stupid. Ships and airplanes don't crash just because they lost a GPS signal. That Tesla thing... WTF was that? Not only you cannot hack a Tesla to take control of it, but even if you could, you would need to turn them on physically first. Did they turn all the Teslas in the city on? Imagine the terrorist going to Tesla dealertships and turning all the cars on. Also... Tesla has no delearships to begin with. And their cars are not really self-driven, so they couldn't go out of town on their own anyways. Then there's the "propaganda part". Throw all those papers in the middle of nowhere... Yeah... Makes sense. That sound that also makes no sense and it is not possible to happen. And the sound making the kid sick? What? Oh, and the rich guy going: "Yeah, I know something about it" was just him hearing something about an invasion plan from a friend... How stupid is that? If you wanna watch some artsy sci-fi that is actually smart, you should watch "Primer" or "Donnie Darko". Not this BS.

@@encyclical I didn't say it was garbage because of the ending. Did you even read what I posted? By the way, it is funny how give Annihilation as an example, and that is another shitty psuedointellectual movie. A stupid movie made to look like a smart movie, so dumb people will watch it and think they are smart. By the way, I Googled here to see if other people were considering this movie as stupid, and holy shit, there's a review from the Observer about Leave The World Behind that pretty much quotes what I said: "‘Leave the World Behind’ Review: A Dumb Movie Disguised as a Smart Movie"

I thought that was just a picture for the unpleasent feeling we all silently have about continuing to destroy a world home not only to us but to an abundance of creatures, innocently and non threateningly trying to live and would deserve our consideration: so far it hasnt directly attacked us but nature is giving us this knowing look back as if to say, you re gonna go on like this?Are you sure you dont wanna turn around?immediately?...sounds simple enough, but we dont know how. There is also a rich history of the inability to witness wonders or understand animals talking fades as we grow up into adults who think they re now logical and rational but really have just stopped listening and looking.

All the characters were supposed to be unlikable. I think a lot of people are going to miss the point of the film as it is a critique of modern America. Hence the title of the film, "Leave The World Behind"... For the last few hundred years as far as the universe is concerned it's the end of the line for the human race. Billions of years of evolution plus also game theory science proves that "co-operation" is the best survival strategy. This is something (doomsday/emergency) preppers say, but to be frank are lost in their own little world just as much as their own neighbours. Throw your phone away, it's no good for you!!!

Dear Gawd don't pay to see this movie. The only believable character is Kevin Bacon's. There are so many plot holes that at first, I thought JR's character was dead and in her own personal hell... The only suspense is the damn piano 3 second soundbite and the plain crash at the beach. The characters, dialogue and the deer, are completely non-believable. The parents that let kids run around in the woods unsupervised in a strange place none of them have ever been to, and only notice they are gone hours later... A wife that borders on paranoid schizophrenia who apparently is good with people? A way too laid back professor-husband who is only believable when he gets high by the pool. A teenage son who, does what? Wank off at pics he took by the pool of the owner's daughter and psychologically bullies his little sister. The uber-angst hyper-defensive overtly-mature daughter who is about as anti white-privileged as it gets and seems to really enjoy being an incredibly rude teenager. And a dad who drove from the city to Long Island amidst an unknown disaster to be safe at his home, but is unexplainably not worried about his wife flying back overseas, especially after seeing planes crash... And WTF is up with the deer? At least make an effort to explain THEIR behavior. Or the sound, the 'revelation type trumpets blaring' that burst eardrums and windows alike. The whole tension is built around the fact that none of them trust one another and clearly no one really cares about what happens to the daughter, who just wants to see the last episode of....friends? really? you are trying to sell THAT?!? Friends? She might as well have had been a Seinfeld fan ffs. Utter rubbish, sure, a 11-13 yrs old kid is going to be a fan of a show that ended nearly 2 decades ago??? suuuuure. But, I will say this, Kevin Bacon, knocked it out of the park with his portrayal of the shotgun totting survivalist dad. THAT felt real. THAT was believable and good acting and dialogue. I say this because I have spoken to that type of person before and he NAILED it. Overall, you can like this movie. I personally had to force myself to watch it past the first quarter. Apparently the book is good, there's that at least.

This was not a good disaster movie. Barely any disaster was shown. There wasn't enough context. It didn't show how the said disaster affected the world or others. The movie didn't have a full ending - it didn't finish correctly. It felt like some of the acting was not there. I love disaster movies but this was not even a B- roll movie. It was quite bad. They call this a disaster movie, but there was less disaster more talking. It needed more disaster and less talking.

I didn’t mind most of the WOKE stuff because the movie had a nice little pay-off… but YES the overarching MESSAGE is that - At the End of the World - white peoples hating black peoples is the MOST IMPORTANT thing… more important than Life itself!?! Sad fact is that - it would only take a few days of NO FOOD being delivered into a city for people to go APE SHIT - and it could get tripped by something as simple as a TAX on trucks coming into NYC and all the Trucker agree to go on strike… people panic, grocery stores are empty and a mob attacks the first truck coming in to ameliorate the situation… now a “truck strike” turns into a suicidal risk and millions of people starve… no really, starve… and the “Giverment” can’t stop the collapse.

A total waste of time, all bluster and absolutely no substance. Irritating characters, apocalypse couldn't come soon enough.

This movie sucked balls. Great acting but total waste of time. If I knew Obama had a hand in it ahead of time I would haven’t even bothered.

It feels like you give a positive review because the Obamas were involved and big stars. I mean seriously, it’s one of the worst movies I have ever watched. There was no on scene chemistry at all, there was no dread or risk of death, no scare jumps, it was just awful. Far too long and boring. Why did the movie need the line ‘don’t trust white people’? Would the movie ever have the line don’t trust black people or don’t trust Asian people? Seems it’s such a lazy trope just now … let’s have a negative line about white people and thrown in some hairy female armpits. I’m sorry but you lose all credibility giving this 4.5 stars out of 5. It didn’t flow, no chemistry, poor acting and dialogue, just brutally bad. Please be honest instead giving reviews you feel you need to politically give.
