Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

Absolutely, this and "That's the Way". One can easily imagine them conspiring to sneak these acoustic/semi-acoustic numbers on to albums. Probably held them back until the producers begged them for 8-10 songs so they could release "Well, we DO have a couple of soft numbers that aren't quite ready...." "GIVE IT TO US, GIVE IT TO US!" Sadly, none of this stuff got any airplay because they weren't "hit single" material.

A classic. This might sound weird but I don't care. It doesn't remind me of a lost love, a current love or anything like that. One fine evening several years ago I was walking up one of the higher hills in the Cairngorms and this song kept appearing in my head. It was the time of year when it doesn't get dark until after 2200 hours and I was sitting outside my tent on the summit, sipping whisky and gazing at the view towards distant hills that would also be visible from the village where I grew up. I sat there feeling a mix of happiness and melancholy - hard to describe - maybe because it would be hard to replicate such a moment in the future. Now, though, when I hear this song, it takes me right back to that evening on one of my favourite hills. Anyways, I bloody love this song.

I left my ex during a breakdown after my baby brother died, it was dark times for me. We kept in touch over the years, an email here and there. And one day, the conversation continued, we shared secrets, and after a few months, here we are. He understands why I had to leave, I lost a part of myself when my brother died, and my mother was battling lung cancer. We've had a few relationships in between, but the love only grew stronger as the hurt fade. Don't give up on love. It's worth it in the end, we've grown as individuals, the childishness is gone, replaced with maturity.

When I was 16 I dreamt of meeting a particular person and fell in love. I woke up and prayed for it to come true. When I turned 21 I met her the same way I did in the dream. It was her. Same clothes, same face, same soul. She always wondered why I called her Tangerine. We were it. Now we arent. Thats why this song destroys me. But thats life I guess...

Keith Relf wrote some of these lyrics.
@frankshailes3205
@frankshailes3205 3 жыл бұрын
@@lameduck3630 There's some dispute about that. Wikipedia summarises it thus: "Disagreement over lyrics Although writers do not question who composed the music for the song, there is some disagreement over who wrote the lyrics. In addition to being credited as the songwriter on all Led Zeppelin releases, Page claims to be responsible for the lyrics: "I'd written it after an old emotional upheaval and I just changed a few of the lyrics for the new version". "Tangerine" and "Dazed and Confused" are the only Led Zeppelin songs with lyrics that credit Page as the sole songwriter. However, Case, Shadwick, and Williamson identify the Yardbirds' song as a joint or co-composition by Page and Yardbirds' singer and primary lyricist Keith Relf. Yardbirds' drummer Jim McCarty and bassist Chris Dreja both assert that Relf wrote the words for "Knowing That I'm Losing You"; they and Jane Relf (sister and singer who also performed with Relf) believe some of his original lines found their way into "Tangerine"."
