One thing about the 49ers is they are one of the more ruthless American Football clubs. They drafted a player who was supposed to be the next big thing only to get rid if him 2 years later with a guy who was taken last in the draft. I dont think they bring Kalvin back based on how they do business.

This feels like a needlessly risky signing to me. 28 this year, hasnt had a good game since 2021, issues with injuries. If this wasnt an ex Leeds player would we be clamouring for him? We should be using that money and wage budget to be building for the future.

Joe, I'm normally oboard with you but even his last season with Leeds he was injured for most of it. He's played 24ish games in the last two years, only 1000~ mins of game time. His last season at Leeds he played nearly 2000 mins whilst being injured most of it. His only saving grace is that he's only 28 and if it's a loan that's totally fine but paying money like that is a massive risk.

It’d be amazing to have KP the person back there should be no doubting that, he’s a Leeds fan and always did his best for the club. Unfortunately there’s a financial and strategic side to this and he as a player isn’t a safe bet. I also worry about such a high price for his age.. A loan home to see how things go would probably make the most sense.

I don't think we'll even go for him- a loan move at best for sqaud depth. But any fee for a permanent move would be better used elsewhere. Any move back to Leeds would be incredibly loaded, and would quickly become sour if it's true that he can't replicate his form from the Bielsa era.

I agree with you, Joe - but I do think 20 million would be worth the risk, not 30. I'd consider getting them down to 25 MAX, but if they would do 20, I think it's a good risk. Coming back home, to the club he has come through, I think it's every change he can bounce back, and then he could be a good asset s either a player, or to sell on again possibly. I can't believe there are people saying he deserted us by leaving. He was on the rise, he was always going to go, and he stayed probably a season longer than he could have, to go to City who are winning things. He had to go, and we needed to sell him while he was hot. Most of us thought we got ripped off for the amount we got. It's weird people are complaining he left but also that he's useless in the same comment. It should be a good thing he left if that is true. Archie is about to do the same thing, leave end of this season, or maybe next if we are lucky but he's not staying at Leeds longer than that. He might come back later in his career but he's on the rise like Phillips was at the time he left. I think it's worth the risk if we get a good deal. Just my opinion.

We are no longer owned by Radz & Co (thankfully), so the Sentiment FC days are over i'm afraid mate. I'd only take Kalvin if we were desperate for a player at the latter stage of the window and it was a straight up loan. It makes no sense to buy him unless it's ridiculously cheap, which it won't be as we all know English players are more inflated than Jordans baps. With this ownership, I trust them to use the £20-30m it would take to buy KP, to buy either a single starting player who'd be head and shoulders above Kalvin (I judge him on his whole career, not just the days he was under Bielsas' tutelage, that includes the Euros), or at least a starter AND a squad player of sufficient quality of the Premier League. No hate on KP what so ever, it's more to do with my trust in this ownership and their ability to make savvy deals happen (Rodon, Ampadu, Gruev etc etc). Love the video though as always brother!
